In case you happened to miss the exciting if not unbelievable news, filming has officially started on the long-delayed third season of HBO's Euphoria. Cameras began rolling on the highly anticipated season 3 in early 2025, as HBO shared in February a new photo of Zendaya back in character as Rue. The series had been away so long, many wondered if it would ever make it back to air.
But Euphoria defied the odds stacked against it — like strikes, creative differences, and real-life tragedy — to commence production on what HBO's boss has referred to as the likely final season. One last season for the road, a victory lap for the Emmy Award-winning series if you will. We've heard reports about who won't be back, and now we're learning who's joining season 3.

When Sam Levinson's "Euphoria" debuted on HBO, the coming-of-age series quickly became a phenomenon. It provided Zendaya the platform to become the youngest two-time Emmy winner in history as well as the youngest person to win an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her performance as high schooler Rue Bennett, undoubtedly the role that changed the trajectory of her entire career. Despite its edgy nature, "Euphoria" became a runaway mainstream success, one of the most discussed TV shows on social media, and the launchpad for a new class of Hollywood performers including Hunter Schaefer, Sydney Sweeney, Jacob Eloridi, Storm Reid, and the late Angus Cloud.
Based on the Israeli series of the same name, "Euphoria" follows troubled teenage drug addict Rue after her stint in rehab, struggling to adjust to her life in Southern California and maintaining sobriety. She meets and quickly falls in love...

Dominic Fike is returning for Season 3 of “Euphoria.”
While he was left off a list of new and returning cast members released by HBO on Friday, Variety can exclusively report that the “3 Nights” singer and actor will indeed reprise his role as Elliot in Sam Levinson’s hit high school drama. Fike is set to shoot a couple of scenes for the show next week, sources say.
HBO declined to comment.
Fike joined “Euphoria” in its second season, which premiered in January 2022. He played a guitar-slinging, drug-addicted teen who befriends Rue (Zendaya) and Jules (Hunter Schafer), wrapping them up in a messy love triangle and serving as an obstacle to Rue’s sobriety. Fike’s talents as a Grammy-nominated recording artist were highlighted in the Season 2 finale, as Elliot performs an original song on the acoustic guitar for Rue. Fike and Zendaya released a version of “Elliot’s Song” on music streaming services.

Production on Season 3 of Euphoria is officially underway. The show shared an image on social media Monday morning announcing the start. See below.
Casey Bloys, Chairman and CEO, HBO and Max Content, promised in November that production would begin in early 2025 with the principal cast returning. That came after online reports that the Sam Levinson-created show would nix its 2025 shoot and ostensibly be coming to an end. He also revealed in July that Season 3 will be full-size, consisting of eight episodes.

After bringing romantic comedies back to form with 2023’s Anyone But You, Sydney Sweeney is in talks to star in a different kind of comedy for an adaptation of Edgar Allen Poe’s The Masque of the Red Death. Sweeney is negotiating to star in the feature-length project at A24 and Picturestart, based on the short story by the timeless teller of spooky stories, Edgar Allen Poe. Charlie Polinger is directing, writing, and executive producing the “darkly comedic” take on The Masque of the Red Death, with Lucy McKendrick also serving as an executive producer.
Edgar Allen Poe’s The Masque of the Red Death, first published in 1842, follows Prince Prospero’s attempts to avoid a dangerous plague while hiding in his abbey. Some consider Poe’s Gothic fiction tale an allegory for the inevitability of death, though some literary experts disagree. In the story, Prospero hosts a masquerade ball...

Will we see Euphoria Season 3 in 2025? HBO has just announced that the highly-anticipated third season will begin filming in January.
While the third-season renewal was announced way back in February 2022, the production has been pushed back several times since then. HBO says that all of the principal cast members will return.
“I am thrilled that we are ready to begin production on Euphoria in January,” said Francesca Orsi, executive vice president of HBO programming and head of HBO drama series and films.
“We could not be happier with our creative partnership with Sam and this incredible cast. We look forward to bringing this new season of Euphoria to life for the fans.”
The popular series’ first season premiered in June 2019, and the second season launched in January 2022. Two one-hour specials aired in December 2020 and January 2021.
Sam Levinson created the Emmy-winning drama series and is the writer, director, and executive producer.

Kathryn Bigelow‘s upcoming Netflix film is shaping up after the additions of Idris Elba and Rebecca Fergusson as Gabriel Basso and Jared Harris enter final negotiations to join the cast.
Nearly everything about this movie remains secret, from the title to the synopsis to the stars’ roles. According to Deadline, the story revolves around the White House, where a crisis erupts. While there’s not much to go on, it’s not impossible to imagine Elba, Fergusson, Basso, and Harris leading a political thriller.
It’s been a while since Bigelow shot a feature film. Her last effort was the crime drama Detroit, which starred John Boyega, Anthony Mackie, Algee Smith, Will Poulter, Kaitlyn Dever, and Jacob Latimore. The fact-based drama, focusing on the 1967 Detroit riots, follows a group of rogue police officers who respond to a complaint with retribution rather than justice.

Euphoria season 3 faces script issues and delays, with Zendaya suggesting surprising storyline ideas. Production for Euphoria season 3 is officially postponed until 2025 due to off-set problems and rising star power of the cast. Sam Levinson teased a time jump and other story ideas that have faced challenges, leading to uncertainty over season 3's future.
Euphoria season 3 has reportedly undergone significant script issues and surprising story ideas amid continual delays for the show. The successful teen drama first aired in 2019, and attracted controversy for its depiction of drug use, nudity, and sexual content, but received critical praise for its performances, cinematography, and exploration of mature themes, and made stars of several of its ensemble cast. Colman Domingo believes the delay in Euphoria season 3's development is due to writer Sam Levinson's extensive rewrites for existential exploration. The rewrites are a response to the losses of cast member Angus Cloud and producer Kevin Turen, making the season a tribute to their memory. Other factors contributing to the delay include Hollywood labor strikes and the busy schedules of the show's talented cast members like Zendaya and Jacob Elordi.
Euphoria star Colman Domingo offers an intriguing update on the long wait for season 3. It has been over two years since the show's second season premiered, and it was officially renewed for season 3, but production on the new season hasn't started yet. Given that the show has attained high critical acclaim for its performances and tackling of mature subjects, the long delay has inevitably stirred many questions about the show's status and the reason for the season gap.

McKay's character was noticeably absent in Euphoria Season 2, leaving fans questioning why his role was reduced. McKay's storyline in Season 1 was centered around his identity crisis and the trauma he experienced due to a hazing ritual, as well as his rocky relationship with Cassie. Blockbuster season is here and Peacock is streaming titles from some of Universal's biggest franchises this June. From the super spy thriller The Bourne Identity to the high-octane action of Fast & Furious, to all the dinosaurs you could want in Jurassic Park and Jurassic World, the thrills of The Purge, and the adorable Secret Life of Pets.
