Jennifer Lien's departure from Star Trek: Voyager as Kes was influenced by creative dead ends and mental health issues. Kes's exit paved the way for Seven of Nine's introduction, which reshaped the dynamics of the show's cast. Despite mixed reviews, Jennifer Lien and Kes are fondly remembered within the Star Trek fandom for their impact on the series.
Jennifer Lien left Star Trek: Voyager after playing Kes for three seasons, even though Kes was a central and interesting character. Premiering in 1995, Star Trek: Voyager ushered in a new generation of fans after Star Trek: The Next Generation came to an end. In a unique twist, Captain Janeway's (Kate Mulgrew) starship USS Voyager was lost in the Delta Quadrant and embarked on a 7-year voyage home. Jennifer Lien was a Star Trek: Voyager series regular as Kes. A member of the Ocampa species, Kes possessed telepathic abilities and was romantically...

Behind-the-scenes drama can have a way of showing up in the final product. Stories of actors, directors, and other creatives who feud with each other can make for easy -- and often distasteful -- gossip fodder. However, it can be hard to avoid when its effects appear onscreen. The Star Trek franchise hasn't always been free of backstage feuds, the most noted of which is doubtless the one in the later seasons of Star Trek: Voyager between stars Kate Mulgrew and Jeri Ryan.
The reasons behind it all are nebulous and complicated, and at the end of the day had comparatively little to do with the two actors themselves. It was fueled for decades by speculation and rumor, which the...

Since Doctor Who's 2005 revival, the Doctor has adopted a fairly lucrative side-line in delivering inspirational and motivational speeches. So prevalent is the big speech in modern Doctor Who, that actors are often handed the dialog at conventions, to provide alternate takes on these rousing speeches. Sylvester McCoy was asked to deliver Matt Smith's Pandorica speech from the Doctor Who season 5 episode "The Pandorica Opens", while John Hurt was given the Twelfth Doctor's observations on warfare from "The Zygon Inversion". In a way, this is slightly insulting to the actors, as it suggests that their Doctors were never given speeches of such magnitude during their own era.
While the big rousing Doctor Who speech is more prevalent in the modern era, many of the scripts from the classic era from 1963 to 1989 are full of words to live by. It's why the BBC published the book Wit, Wisdom, and Timey-Wimey...

A former contestant on The Apprentice has claimed that Lord Alan Sugar once “went ballistic” for no reason, before he walked off set for 25 minutes.
The story comes from Mark Wright, who won the 2014 edition of the BBC reality series, and went on to partner with Sugar in a joint business venture.
Speaking on the On a Mission podcast, Wright recalled the alleged incident, which took place while filming one of the “boardroom” showdown scenes.

Soccer Aid for Unicef 2022, broadcast live and exclusively on ITV and Stv last week from the London Stadium, has raised a record-breaking £15,673,728 so far for Unicef’s vital work giving children around the world the care-free, play filled childhoods they are entitled to.
This record-breaking amount was raised thanks to the generous support of the UK public, ITV and Stv viewers, and The Power of Nutrition who have matched donations up to £4 million, meaning double the difference for children. This figure has smashed last year’s record total for money raised on the night.
The hotly anticipated match took place at the sold-out London Stadium with 54,410 fans in attendance, 10 years on from the London 2012 Summer Olympics. The match ended 4-1 on penalties to Soccer Aid World XI, taking them into the overall lead with 6-5 wins since the inaugural 2006 match. In summer 2020, Gary Allan released a song that he fully expected would be a slam-dunk at country radio. “Waste of a Whiskey Drink” was a brooding mid-tempo anthem with all the boxes checked: a concise three-minutes-and-change runtime, polished production, a boozy buzzword in the title, and the red-hot solo artist Hardy as a co-writer.
“It was right down the middle,” says Allan, whose reedy voice is one of country music’s most recognizable.
But “Waste of a Whiskey Drink” got wasted on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart: It debuted and died at No.
