While, Hulu is not as flashy as some of the other streaming services like Netflix, Max, and Disney+, it has a solid library of shows that are both originals and licensed through various studios. Regarding sci-fi shows, Hulu doesn’t have any big names like 3 Body Problem or Westworld, but it makes up for that by carrying some great new and old shows like Devs and The X-Files, which were loved by millions of people. So, we thought of making a list of the best sci-fi TV shows you can find on Hulu right now.

YouTubers have become popular figures in mainstream pop-culture, appearing in blockbuster movies and bringing their own fanbases. Video game movies often include famous YouTubers to appeal to their core fanbases and make use of their influence. Casting famous YouTubers in movies can be a successful strategy, especially when targeting young demographics and tapping into their existing fanbases.
Professional YouTubers have slowly begun seeping more and more into mainstream pop-culture, with some of them even making appearances in some fantastically huge blockbuster movies. Ever since the advent of professional content creation in the mid 2010s, a whole microcosm of celebrities has arisen from the internet; not household names, but massively popular entertainers in their own right. Keanu Reeves has been at the forefront of some of cinema's most important franchises, including "The Matrix" and "John Wick." Even one of his biggest bombs has, against all odds, also become a franchise. Reeves starred in Universal's tremendously expensive blockbuster "47 Ronin" back in 2013. It was a major flop at the time and actually hurt the actor's career a bit. But nearly a full decade later, everything came full circle, and a sequel to that flop was released. Yes, was! As in, it already came out ... last year.
"Blade of the 47 Ronin" is a sequel to the movie in question, and debuted in 2022. One would be forgiven for not realizing it, as it wasn't quite as big as the original, to put it mildly. Unfortunately, Reeves didn't return for the follow-up, but for those who enjoyed that film, there is a sequel out there you can watch right now.

While 2013’s 47 Ronin might be a fun fantasy action movie, there are many more movies dedicated to the story of these masterless samurai and their legendary quest. 47 Ronin sees Keanu Reeves, Hiroyuki Sanada, Rinko Kikuchi, and Ko Shibasaki star in a story of betrayal and revenge. 47 Ronin’s plot concerns the eponymous group of samurai who are left without a master when their daimyo is killed. This story finds its inspiration in the true story of the 47 Ronin, a masterless samurai clan who avenged the death of their former lord. A work of chūshingura, 47 Ronin heavily fictionalizes the story with golems, witches, and supernatural elements.
While 47 Ronin was a massive box office bomb, the cult classic found its audience in the decade since its release. Thanks to its striking style, lush visuals, and action-packed storyline, 47 Ronin earned many fans when the movie hit streaming services.

As is typical for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is chock full of Easter eggs. That includes nods to figures outside the comics and events and individuals from past Marvel stories. Even real-world celebrities have found themselves rubbing shoulders with fictional superheroes more than once within the franchise.
Quantumania includes a quick one from BuzzFeed Unsolved host Ryan Bergara. It wouldn't merit mention apart from the McU's other real-world cameos, save that the Ant-Man series of movies appear to have an affinity for celebrities who rose to prominence on social media rather than older forms of discourse like television or movies. Bergara's brief nod is part of a small but notable Ant-Man tradition.

Who would have thought we would be seeing a sequel to 47 Ronin among all of the Halloween goodies? But sure enough, Universal 1440 Entertainment, the company’s direct-to-video department, has come up with Blade of the 47 Ronin, a modern-day sequel to the Keanu Reeves samurai epic. And they said there’s no such thing as The Great Pumpkin.
Somewhere in Budapest Yurei kills Arai thought to be the last in the bloodline of those who wielded the Blade of the 47 Ronin. But as he kills him he senses the existence of another heir.
As the other clans argue over what to do about the sword and the prophecy attached to it, Onami one of Lord Shinshiro’s onna-bugeisha reaches out to Reo.

The story of the 47 Ronin is one of the most famous tales of the Samurai era. A story that has been passed down over the years and made into numerous films. It's a classic saga of betrayal, loyalty and sacrifice that makes it perfect for cinematic treatment. The Hollywood version in 2013 proved controversial in it's addition of fantasy elements and the casting of Keanu Reeves in the lead role. In addition to this controversy it was also critically panned. That alone makes the idea of a sequel daunting viewing. Those familiar with the story will also know that it's not exactly one that allows for a follow up. I'm sure the producers will have thought of that and have a completely compelling new narrative for this potential issue…..right??

Here’s a sequel I’m willing to bet you forgot was coming, because I certainly did. It was announced over two years ago that Universal Pictures was developing a sequel to 47 Ronin, the 2013 action/fantasy movie that starred Keanu Reeves as a half-Japanese, half-English outcast who joins forces with a group of ronin out to avenge the death of their master. The film was one of the biggest box-office bombs of the year, which made the announcement of a sequel all the more puzzling, but here we are. Universal Pictures Home Entertainment have released an extended clip from Blade of the 47 Ronin, which you can check out above.

Production wraps this week in Hungary on “Blade of the 47 Ronin,” a sequel to Universal’s 2013 Japanese-themed action classic “47 Ronin.” The new movie represents a substantial revamp that emphasizes Asian fantasy heroes and female characters and addresses some of the cultural criticisms of the previous Keanu Reeves-starring picture.
The action is moved forward by some 300 years to present-day Budapest, which is intended as a metaphor for East-West confluence, and where a meeting of the five Samurai clans is taking place. In addition to the male clan leaders, the meeting is also attended by three Onna Bugeisha (literally ‘Women Warriors’), though their presence is initially resented.
Production was handled by Universal Studios through its 1440 Productions unit for Netflix. The streamer is expected to release it sometime in 2022, though a specific date is still unknown.
The existence of female Samurai who fought alongside their male colleagues in feudal Japan is well documented.

In 2013, Variety listed "47 Ronin" as one of Hollywood's biggest box office bombs of the year. The film was the last Keanu Reeves vehicle to hit before "John Wick," which birthed a new action franchise and helped bring about a career resurgence for the actor. You might not think of "47 Ronin" as a franchise in the way of "John Wick" or "The Matrix," both of which have four-quels starring Reeves in the pipeline. However, "47 Ronin" does have a sequel on the way, headlined by one of Reeves' co-stars from "John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum."

Netflix has released a new trailer for its upcoming superhero series, Jupiter’s Legacy, which is set to arrive May 7th.
Adding a dash of family drama to the classic superhero formula, the show is centered around a major changing of the guard, as the world’s first superheroes prepare to pass the proverbial torch to the next generation. But that shift, of course, comes with all sorts of angst as the younger heroes must learn to not only harness their powers but live up to the expectations of both their parents and the world.

When it comes to comic book creators, few names are as popular in Hollywood as Mark Millar. His comics have consistently been turned into major box-office hits, from Kick-Ass to The Kingsman, to Captain America: Civil War. Now, Netflix is preparing to release the live-action series adaptation of Jupiter's Legacy, a comic series that Millar first published in 2013. In an interview with EW, Millar described the upcoming adaptation as a superhero epic with echoes of The Lord of the Rings and The Godfather.
"I wanted to do one story that would become the biggest superhero epic of all time. I wanted to do the superhero Lord of the Rings that would be timeless and just a bumper collection of books people would be reading in 50 or 100 years time... [Jupiter's Legacy is like The Godfather] in the sense that it's about an unusual family at the heart of the most outrageous situation.

‘Shadow in the Cloud’: Roseanne Liang Turned a Max Landis Script Into Her Own Feminist Monster Movie
Roseanne Liang is intentional about her ambitions: she wants to be a big-time action director, and what better way to prove her abilities than a rip-roaring genre movie that combines zippy action with plenty of winking humor? Enter the World War II-set “Shadow in the Cloud,” the Kiwi’s first action feature — she’s previously written and directed the winning rom-com “My Wedding and Other Secrets” and the lauded drama short “Do No Harm” — which functions as both a punchy midnight movie and a prime example of how an indie-sized budget can still deliver wild action.
Liang’s film makes it clear early on that it’s operating on its own wavelength, combining both a “war is hell” mentality alongside cheeky creature feature jokes. At the center of it all is Maude Garrett (Chloë Grace Moretz), a British flight officer zipping her way toward a jittery B-17.

An elementary school classroom may seem an odd place to launch a romantic comedy that soon finds its protagonists coupling with abandon in a slew of quasi-public spaces. But in the rom-com “Hooking Up” — available digitally and on demand — that’s precisely where magazine writer Darla emerges from, having had an afterschool special with a stranger on a teeny desk.
Then again, a school proves perhaps too apt a location. There’s a rudimentary feel to “Hooking Up,” which stars Brittany Snow and Sam Richardson as a twosome who embark on a road trip with benefits. Genres often provide refuge to first-time feature filmmakers. Director Nico Raineau and co-writer Lauren Schacher hug the familiar beats of the form while rubbing up against its conventions with some naughty, sometimes endearing tweaks.
That school turns out to be a busy one. There’s a sex addiction group in one room and a cancer survivors’ gathering in another.

Even in trying times, a great movie can do wonders for you. The prospect of watching Sam Richardson and Brittany Snow in a romantic comedy already offered up some glowing potential, but nothing will prepare you for how wonderful this film is. A charming, funny, and sexy rom-com, Hooking Up even manages to get serious at times in a way that never betrays its core entertainment value. With terrific performances by Richardson and Snow, who display absolutely phenomenal chemistry, this is one of the year’s most pleasant surprises. Coming to VOD on Friday (an initially theatrical run is obviously out of the question right now), it deserves to find a place in your hearts. The film is a romantic comedy couched around a road trip. When Bailey (Richardson) and Darla (Snow) first meet, they’re in a school entering very different support groups. He’s a survivor of testicular...

Those hungry for more of the East/West culture-clash terrain of “Crazy Rich Asians” and “The Farewell” may savor the slightly downsized pleasures of “Go Back to China,” which offers up some of the first film’s lifestyle glamour plus the second’s more earnest family drama. Emily Ting’s second scripted feature is essentially a freely fictionalized revamp of 2008 documentary “Family Inc.,” in which she charted her own reluctant but ultimately rewarding move from New York City to Hong Kong, where she trained to run her hot-tempered father’s plush toy factory.
Tethering that real-life tale to some rather stock narrative beats, this isn’t a memorable seriocomedy. But it’s a pleasant one that should do well in home-format sales. A year after the film screened in competition at SXSW, Gravitas Ventures is launching it on demand as well as in a handful of U.S. theaters this Friday.
