'You Will All Always Be Conners': Michael Fishman Reflects on the Series Finale of the Roseanne Spinoff
Image
Actor Michael Fishman is probably best known for his portrayal of D.J. Conner, the youngest of the Conner kids, beginning in 1988 on the classic sitcom Roseanne. He reprised the role in 2018 on the Roseanne reboot, The Conners, and appeared in more than 70 episodes of the series.

After seven seasons on air, The Conners’ concluded with its April 23 series finale and Fishman took to the social media site, Threads, to thank his fans and cast mates for the journey.

Post by @reelmfishman View on Threads “It Was an Honor”

Posting on Threads on April 23, Fishman stated, “I want to thank all of you who supported our work. It was an honor to share a set with some of the most talented people in history in front of and behind the camera. I'm thankful for every participant. We celebrate all the pieces of the puzzle, seen or not. Thank you John,...

The Gilligan's Island Cast Had A Crossover With Roseanne
Image
The "Roseanne" episode "Sherwood Schwartz: A Loving Tribute" was, as the title implies, a tribute to one of the most successful sitcom creators to play the game. Schwartz, of course, is the mastermind behind both "Gilligan's Island" and "The Brady Bunch," and he worked as a writer on shows like "My Favorite Martian," "The Red Skelton Show," and "I Married Joan." Schwartz is a giant of the televised medium, and many TV shows owe him a debt; he provided several generations of goofy comedians with inspiration.

"Gilligan's Island" was particularly well-known among the public, partly because of its indelibly dumb humor, and partly because of endless reruns that continued through the 1980s. Every American knew the premise of "Gilligan's Island" and every sitcom writer wanted to emulate its success. It stood to reason that the makers of "Roseanne" — a blue-collar sitcom — would want to pay it, and Sherwood Schwartz, homage.

The Conners Could Easily Set Up the Perfect Spin-Off
Image
Becky and Darlenes tumultuous relationship is the perfect foundation for a spin-off of The Conners. Becky and Darlenes shared household is an opportunity to expand the Conner familys story. Becky and Darlenes children can help guide a spin-off in a new direction.

After seven seasons of hilarious antics and misguided drama, The Conners is finally ending. On May 10, 2024, ABC announced its Roseanne spin-off series was renewed for the last time. The announcement is exciting news for fans, who initially feared the show would end after its sixth season.

However, the familys antics dont have to end after the seventh season. After all, The Conners is a spin-off, and its diverse cast offers plenty of opportunities to build a new narrative. While all of its cast have unique stories to tell, two of the Conner familys core members are perfectly poised to continue the broadcasting legacy.

The Conners Renewed For Seventh and Final Season at ABC
John Goodman, Sara Gilbert, Jay R. Ferguson, Alicia Goranson, Laurie Metcalf, Emma Kenney, and Ames McNamara in The Conners (2018)
Today's intel is a bit of a mixed bag for fans of The Conners.

After months of cancelation rumors, the long-running Roseanne spinoff has been renewed for a seventh season.

That's the good news.

The bad news is that the show will be coming to an end for good.

And it will do so with a dramatically reduced episode count.

According to a report from Deadline, producers were able to work out a deal with ABC wherein the show will be extended so that it can offer viewers a proper conclusion.

Unfortunately, that conclusion will unfold over just six episodes.

Again, it could've been worse, as there were fears that The Conners would be unceremoniously kicked to the curb at the end of its current season.

The situation was so dire that a tag scene was shot for the upcoming season finale that would end the story in a satisfactory way,...

Helen Mirren, Kylie Minogue Barbies Released Ahead of International Women’s Day
Image
Dame Helen Mirren said that she is “blown away” after seeing her likeness captured in a new Barbie doll, which Mattel is releasing this week ahead of International Women’s Day. The latest batch of role model toys also includes dolls for Kylie Minogue, Viola Davis and Shania Twain.

The release, also marking Barbie’s 65th anniversary, is part of the Barbie Dream Gap Project, which was launched in 2018 to challenge gender stereotypes and help “undo the biases that hold girls back from reaching their full potential,” according to Mattel. In addition to including these four famous women, this week’s new set of dolls includes creator Maira Gomez, of Brazil’s indigenous Tatuyo community; Mexican filmmaker Lila Avilés; German comic Enissa Amani; and Japanese model Nicole Fujita.

“I am absolutely blown away by my Barbie,” Mirren said in a statement posted to her website. “To be chosen by Barbie...

Robert Downey Jr. Rocks a Bucket Hat and Leonardo DiCaprio Goes Incognito at Frieze L.A. as Art Sales Are Brisk
Image
The V.I.P. opening day of the Frieze Los Angeles art fair felt like a family affair as Hollywood power players and art world elites met and mingled to view the best works from galleries around the world. Held at the Santa Monica Airport for the second year running, the all-day event on Thursday, Feb. 29, felt breezier this year, as a new design and 20 percent fewer galleries gave A-listers the space to peruse and schmooze.

One couldn’t go two feet without shaking hands with an old friend or coming upon a clutch of Hollywood insiders. Old pals Will Ferrell, Owen Wilson and Luke Wilson — the first two movie star incognito in baseball caps — chatted with Lacma director and CEO Michael Govan in front of one booth, while bigwig agents-slash-collectors from Endeavor, CAA and UTA were out in force, some swarming together in packs. ‘The Conners’ Creators Talk How Tough Economic Times Rips Open a Dark Family Secret (Exclusive Video)
Image
“The Conners” has never shied away from tough topics that have burrowed themselves deep into the lower-middle class experience, and they don’t plan on starting to anytime soon. On this week’s episode of the ABC comedy, the family finds themselves at the crossroads of an economic issue that could wipe out any progress they’ve made to catch up.

The episode revolves around Jackie’s mother, Bev, whose memory is worsening and her need for round-the-clock care has become dire. But, as seen in the exclusive clip at the top, the outrageous cost of healthcare for an aging parent leaves them with few options. And Jackie’s ever-present bitterness for her mother comes in clear focus.

We sat down with “The Conners” creators Bruce Helford and Dave Caplan to talk about seizing the opportunity to speak to a whole new generation that hasn’t really been through hard times until now,...

This England review: Sky’s Covid drama should be avoided like the plague
Image
Do you remember the coronavirus pandemic? Chances are you do, firstly because it happened very recently and secondly because it was very, very horrible. The collective trauma of the event was unprecedented since the Second World War. With that in mind, here comes the show that precisely nobody was asking for: This England. Dominic Cummings yelling about Brexit! Dramatisations of people dying in the ICU!! Kenneth Branagh as Boris Johnson!!!

For all that This England (Sky Atlantic) sets out to be a panoptic view of the early months of the crisis, there’s a blonde tousled elephant in the room. Even if unintentional, the show is all about Boris Johnson, and the great problem with Branagh’s performance is that it’s simultaneously a fairly poor impression and an enormously distracting one. He paces and preens and the audience is constantly reminded that this is supposed to be Boris Johnson.

Diego Luna On Tackling Universal Issues From A Mexican Perspective With ‘Pan Y Circo’: “The Solution Is Around Us”
Image
Diego Luna returns with more episodes of Amazon Prime Video’s Pan Y Circo, a two-time Emmy Award-winning series that sees the actor share a meal with strangers to discuss various topics that are critical to the world at large from a Mexican perspective.

Due to the pandemic (and not because of his busy schedule working on Star Wars: Andor), the show has had to evolve in a multitude of ways. Mainly, instead of a Season 2, the series will drop four specials: “Access to Healthcare” (available to stream now), “Crisis in Democracy” (November 26), and early 2022 will see Luna travel from his kitchen in Mexico City to New York for discussions on immigration and social protests.

“There are many new things that we’re exploring on Pan Y Circo this time, the most exciting one is not that I’m going to cook—that’s quite disappointing for our guests—it...

Sharon Osbourne Tells Bill Maher ‘I Will Not Take’ Being Called a Racist (Video)
Sharon Osbourne
Sharon Osbourne was the first guest on “Real Time With Bill Maher” Friday night, marking her first interview since she was dropped by “The Talk” last month for freaking out when co-host Sheryl Underwood challenged her defense of Piers Morgan’s attacks on Meghan Markle. In the interview with Maher, Osbourne blamed “disgruntled ladies” for losing her job, and said anyone who has accused her of uttering slurs is making it up.

Maher began the discussion with a rundown of what happened on “The Talk” that dramatically downplayed what actually happened.

“So on your ironically titled show ‘The Talk,’ you were talking. And if there’s one lesson from this, it’s that’s not allowed anymore. So I just want to say my view is nothing happened,” Maher said.

He continued, “Meghan Markle and Prince Harry gave their interview with Oprah. Then your friend Piers Morgan — he’s a...

Wonder Woman 1984 Star Isn’t Sure If The Film Will Make Its August Release
Daniel Craig in No Time to Die (2021)
One of public life’s first casualties in “The Great Lockdown” as the Imf have labelled it, was the closure of cinemas. No cinemas means no box office and thus no new releases. As such, dozens of tentpoles, including No Time to Die and Black Widow, were either delayed or indefinitely postponed as the pandemic’s social effects hit home. But it wasn’t just movies set for release in the spring that were in the firing line.

Summer blockbusters are also under pressure, as with no known end to the disruption in sight, studio execs are nervously juggling release dates like multi-million dollar hand grenades. Upcoming superhero sequel Wonder Woman 1984 has already been shunted from June 5th to August 14th, but it seems even making that date might be too much.

Wonder Woman star Connie Nielsen, who’ll reprise her role as Hippolyta in the upcoming movie, has...

Sharon Osbourne Apologizes for "The View" Diss: "I'm a Loose Cannon"
While she has no problem giving people her opinion, Sharon Osbourne admits that her comments about "The View" may have been a bit harsh.

"I have to own this. I'm fully responsible for myself - some of the time," Miss Osbourne explained. "And unfortunately, I was inappropriate, and I was trying to be funny at someone else's expense. It was the ladies of 'The Talk.' We were asked a question about 'The Talk.'"

Before continuing, her co-host Sarah Gilbert corrected Sharon and said, "'The View', you mean?'"

Kelly Osbourne's mother answered, "See?! I'm not well! I'm not responsible. I'm really just a loose cannon."
