Just shy of two weeks after the School Spirits season 2 finale on Paramount+, there's already exciting news to share with fans about the show's fate. On Wednesday, March 19, Paramount+ officially announced that the hit supernatural teen drama series will be back for season 3! You don't have to worry anymore about those shocking cliffhangers not getting resolved.

According to Variety, viewership increased by 94% with the release of season 2, as the season debuted in January 2025 with 3.9 million viewers, an average cumulated in the first month of release. That's a massive boost that likely could be in part attributed to the first season becoming available to stream on Netflix ahead of the second season's premiere this year.

The first three episodes of Season 2, which launched on January 30, amassed 1.7M viewers in the first seven days of availability, according to internal data from Paramount Global.

That marks a 104% increase over the seven-day audience for the first three episodes of Season 1, the company says.

Third party data about the series’ performance is hard to come by, since it hasn’t appeared in Nielsen’s streaming Top 10. However, a triple-digit audience increase in the first week is a pretty significant boost.

Paramount also points to owned, domestic social post performance as an indicator of the show’s growing audience, as any posts regarding School Spirits published in the first seven days after the Season 2 debut have seen eight times the total engagement of Season 1 posts in that time frame.

Paramount+ today revealed the teaser, key art, and first-look images for season two of its hit original drama series School Spirits. The new season will debut in early 2025, streaming exclusively on Paramount+ in the U.S., Canada, Australia, the UK, Latin America, Brazil, Italy, France, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, and Japan.

Season one is currently available to stream on Paramount+. The news was revealed during the School Spirits panel at New York Comic Con 2024.

Picking up from the shocking season one finale, Maddie Nears (Peyton List) is still stuck in the afterlife, but now with the knowledge of what happened to her. She must unite her friends in the spectral and living worlds in order to reclaim her stolen life.

The “Star Trek” Universe will warp back into New York Comic-Con as part of Paramount+’s lineup for the annual fan convention, which runs from Oct. 17–20 at the Javits Convention Center in Manhattan. The streamer will hold a fan activation for the upcoming series “Dexter: Original Sin” on the convention floor, and bring the cast and creators of the supernatural high school drama “School Spirits” to discuss Season 2.

Season two of the drama will pick up after the shocking season one finale and begins with Maddie Nears still stuck in the afterlife, but now with the knowledge of what happened to her. She must unite her friends in the spectral and living worlds in order to reclaim her stolen life.

School Spirits is based on the forthcoming graphic novel written by Nate and Megan Trinrud, who also serve as executive producers and creators on the show, with illustrations by Maria Nguyen.

With the new season in the works, the returning cast has been announced, along with one cast member who won’t be back, and new additions have also been revealed.

After a successful series premiere earlier this year, The Hollywood Reporter lets us know today that the Paramount+ streaming service has officially ordered up “School Spirits” Season 2.
