Last month, we got confirmation that a live-action remake of Disney's 2010 animated classic Tangled is officially in development, and the project may have found its villain.
According to scooper Daniel Richtman, Agatha All Along star Kathryn Hahn is being eyed to play Mother Gothel. If the actress - who was recently nominated for a Golden Globe for her performance in the Disney+ series - does land the part, she will likely return to play Gothel in a spin-off focusing on the character.
Though nothing has been confirmed, Disney is believed to be developing a number of baddie-centric live-action projects to tie-in to the planned Villains Land Disneyland attraction. In addition to a Mother Gothel movie, we have heard that Queen of Hearts and Snow Queen films are also in the works, and this is said to be why the Hercules adaptation was repurposed to focus on Hades.

Last year, around the time of the Hollywood Strikes, there were persistent rumors that Disney was planning to move forward with a live-action remake of 2010's Tangled. Now, we have confirmation that the project is officially in development.
Previous reports have claimed that Baz Luhrmann was being eyed to direct, but according to THR, Michael Gracey (The Greatest Showman) is now in talks to take the helm.
Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, who is currently directing Sony’s I Know What You Did Last Summer legacy sequel, wrote the latest draft of the screenplay. Producers include Kristin Burr for Burr! Productions, along with Emmy-winning producer Lucy Kitada (The Baby-Sitters Club).
Florence Pugh was rumored to be in line to play the lead role of Rapunzel, but there's no mention of any potential casting picks in the trade reports.

Disney doesn’t learn. Their recent live-action reimaginings have been hit or miss and not exactly box office winners, and their upcoming “Snow White” is looking like it will be a big disaster. So what does Disney do next? Apparently, they will move forward on more live-action remakes like “Tangled.”
Deadline has reported that Disney is in talks with Michael Gracey (“The Greatest Showman”) to direct the live-action “Tangled” remake.
It’s said to “follow along the lines of the animated version.” So why do we need this?
So far, Disney has a writer for the film- Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, who was behind the box office bomb “Thor: Love and Thunder.” They also have hired Kristin Burr and Lucy Kitada to produce the film.
This article might seem like I’m crapping on Disney, but the live-action remakes are getting ridiculous, and they have proven to be declining at the box office.

The Disney live-action remake machine chugs along mercilessly, with 2010’s “Tangled” the next animated classic to get reimagined. Michael Gracey, who made “The Greatest Showman” and this year’s Oscar hopeful “Better Man,” is in negotiations to direct the project. He will work from a script by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, of “Do Revenge” fame. Producers include Kristin Burr and Lucy Kitada for Burr! Productions.
The original “Tangled” was released back in 2010 and was directed by Byron Howard and Nathan Greno, based on the classic Grimm brothers fairy tale. That film saw Rapunzel (Mandy Moore) team up with a charming thief (Zachary Levi) in order to escape captivity from Mother Gothel (Donna Murphy). The songs were by Alan Menken and Glenn Slater and they are still some of the most beloved songs from a Disney animated feature.

Borderlands movie breaks records with a disappointing 9% Rotten Tomatoes score, disappointing many involved. Cate Blanchett and eight other actors set personal record lows with their involvement in Borderlands. Director Eli Roth sees Borderlands as his worst-rated film on Rotten Tomatoes, with only a 9% rating.
Borderlands' Rotten Tomatoes score breaks several records, just not in the way everyone involved would have hoped. The first-ever live-action adaptation of 2K and Gearbox's popular video game franchise attracted top talent from across Hollywood. Lionsgate eventually landed Eli Roth as the director, with Cate Blanchett and others headlining Borderlands' cast of characters. The talent involved even grew through the movie's reshoots, which brought Deadpool's Tim Miller aboard to handle the additional photography. All this was done in the hopes that the Borderlands' reviews and the general response would be favorable, leading to a box office hit franchise.

Lionsgate has brought online the new Borderlands trailer, which features more footage from the sci-fi adventure based on the video game series. The film will open in theaters on August 9, 2024.
Directed by Eli Roth from a script by Roth and Joe Crombie, Borderlands is based on the video game created by Gearbox Software and published by 2K. The film has been rated PG-13 by the MPA for intense sequences of violence and action, language, and some suggestive material.
In Borderlands, Lilith (Cate Blanchett), an infamous treasure hunter with a mysterious past, reluctantly returns to her home planet of Pandora to find the missing daughter of Atlas (Edgar Ramirez), the universe’s most powerful S.O.B.
She forms an unexpected alliance with a ragtag team of misfits – Roland (Kevin Hart), once a highly respected soldier, but now desperate for redemption; Tiny Tina (Ariana Greenblatt), a feral pre-teen demolitionist; Krieg (Florian Munteanu), Tina’s musclebound,...

Filming wrapped on director Eli Roth‘s adaptation of the Borderlands video game series from Gearbox and 2K way back in June of 2021. A year and a half later, Deadpool director Tim Miller had to step in to handle the project’s two weeks of reshoots because Roth had the chance to finally – after sixteen years – make a feature based on the Thanksgiving faux trailer he put together for the Quentin Tarantino / Robert Rodriguez collaboration Grindhouse. The Borderlands reshoots have been completed, Thanksgiving has come and gone, and Lionsgate is now gearing up to finally release Borderlands into the world on August 9th… and with that date right around the corner, a featurette has arrived online to give us a look at the “dysfunctional family” of characters at the heart of the story. Cate Blanchett’s Lilith travels to a planet she hates to find a massive treasure hidden in a vault in the first trailer for Lionsgate’s Borderlands. Lilith can’t do the treasure hunt alone and is forced to team up with an odd assortment of people on a planet that has an actual gully made of piss.

The Borderlands reshoots have been completed, Thanksgiving has come and gone, and Lionsgate is now gearing up to finally release Borderlands into the world on August 9th. With just over five months to go until that date arrives, Lionsgate has unveiled a trailer for the film, and you can check that out in the embed above.

Cate Blanchett is back in a wig and a franchise, following her iconic “Thor: Ragnarok” campiness. The Oscar winner and “Tár” lead actress transforms into vigilante Lilith for Eli Roth’s star-studded “Borderlands” video-game adaptation.
Blanchett’s character is an infamous outlaw who returns to her home planet of Pandora on a mission to track down the missing daughter of the universe’s top leader, Atlas (Edgar Ramírez). Lilith enlists former elite mercenary Roland (Kevin Hart), pre-teen demolitionist Tiny Tina (“Barbie” breakout Ariana Greenblatt), her bodyguard Krieg (Florian Munteanu), mad scientist Tannis (Jamie Lee Curtis), and robot Claptrap (Jack Black) to help.
“These unlikely heroes must battle alien monsters and dangerous bandits to find and protect the missing girl, who may hold the key to unimaginable power,” the synopsis reads. “The fate of the universe could be in their hands – but they’ll be fighting for something more: each other.

Seven months later, Deadpool director Tim Miller had to step in to handle the project’s two weeks of reshoots because Roth had the chance to finally – after seventeen years – make a feature based on the Thanksgiving faux trailer he put together for the Quentin Tarantino / Robert Rodriguez collaboration Grindhouse. Roth’s Thanksgiving slasher is scheduled to reach theatres on November 17, 2023, the Friday before the Thanksgiving holiday. Now Deadline has broken the news that Borderlands will reach theatres about eight months later, on August 2, 2024. So we still have a year to wait before we’ll be able to watch this one.

The scripted pilot based on Jessica Simpson’s bestselling memoir “Open Book” is not moving forward at Amazon Freevee, Variety has confirmed. Phil Lord and Chris Miller’s period comedy “Western” has also been scrapped, though both potential series are now being shopped elsewhere.

Could “The Baby-Sitters Club” be making a comeback? The series was canceled by Netflix after two seasons earlier this year in March, and talk has swirled since about the series being shopped for a revival — or at least a TV movie — elsewhere.
But now there’s a bit more momentum for the show: “The Baby-Sitters Club” won two awards at the Children & Family Emmys this weekend, for both outstanding writing for a live action preschool or children’s program and outstanding children’s or family viewing series.
“We’re talking about it in a very preliminary way, talking about if we can bring it somewhere else. The movie, based on New York Times bestselling author Jessica Knoll's 2015 novel of the same name, stars Kunis as Ani FaNelli, "a sharp-tongued New Yorker" living in her own perfect world - until a crime documentary that revisits her dark high school past threatens to unravel everything. Netflix released the trailer for the film on Sept. 6.
Though "Luckiest Girl Alive" is a fictional story, Knoll previously told the "Today" show that her novel - which sold over 450,000 copies - was shaped by her own experiences. In the book, Ani survives a gang rape, a similar experience the author had when she was 15 years old and assaulted by three boys at a party. "I knew it the morning that I opened my eyes. Mike Barker will direct the film, and Knoll herself is adapting the screenplay based on her book.
“Soon I’ll be an editor at the New York Times Magazine, and in six weeks I’m getting married in a lavish but tasteful ceremony,” Kunis’ character Ani FaNelli opens the clip, sharing news of her wedding to Luke (Finn Wittrock). “Luke comes from money, but I have something no trust fund can buy: The Edge.”
All of Ani’s dreams are about to come true with her new job, wedding and more, but when her fiancé introduces her to a past acquaintance who doesn’t remember her at first, she flashes back to a buried memory of a shocking incident that took place when she was younger.

Based on Ann M. Martin’s best-selling novel series of the same name, “The Baby-Sitters Club” gave a modern update to the tale of seven young friends who launch a babysitting business in Stoneybrook, Connecticut.
“I have wanted to be a part of the world Ann M. Martin created since I was 7 years old, and for two amazing seasons I actually got to be. It was a dream come true,” creator and showrunner Rachel Shukert said in a statement. “Although I am heartbroken not to be returning to Stoneybrook for 20 more seasons, I am so proud of the incredible show our amazing cast and crew created and the way it brought joy and comfort to so many when they needed it most.
