The action drama Tracker has been a hit for CBS since its premiere in 2024. It stars Justin Hartley in the lead role as Colter Shaw, taught to be a survivalist by his father and now making his living as a "rewardist." Traveling all over the U.S. in his airstream, Colter works with private citizens and law enforcement to locate missing people in exchange for reward money. Based on Jeffrey Deaver's 2019 bestselling novel The Never Game and developed for TV by Ben H. Winters, Tracker has all the makings of a long-lasting network series. Its first season topped CBS ratings as the most-watched scripted series with an average of over eight million viewers per episode, and the second season kept the ball rolling with the most-watched premiere of the 2024-25 broadcast season. But should it be worried by accusations of plagiarism?

In high school, Ben H. Winters went to see Total Recall, a loud Arnold Schwarzenegger sci-fi action blockbuster directed by Paul Verhoeven. When he noticed it was based on a story by Philip K. Dick, he decided to seek it out and read it.
His reaction was one of “Whoa,” as he recalls. “So that’s where this stuff is coming from,” he thought. It became his gateway into classic and heady science fiction from not just Dick but authors such as Isaac Asimov, Robert A. Heinlin, Kurt Vonnegut and others.
“The guys were preoccupied with the idea what it meant being humans, what is meant to be alive,” he notes. “All of these trippy and deep and unsettling questions of the human condition become folded into these wild stories.”
Now Winters is paying homage to these authors with Benjamin, a three-issue prestige limited comic book series from Oni Press,...

CBS’s hit crime drama, Tracker, heads back to television on Feb. 16, and the second half of Season 2 will feature a new recurring guest star. Tracker has experienced much success in 2024, but its most-watched episode in its two seasons may surprise fans. The CBS action drama TV series, created by Ben H. Winters, is based on Jeffery Deaver's 2019 novel The Never Game, following Colter Shaw. Colter is an expert survivalist who uses his tracking skills to (usually) find people in exchange for money as a rewardist. However, Colter's complicated past also often comes back to haunt him in Tracker.
Tracker season 2 returns with episode 9 on Sunday, February 16, 2025, at 8 pm Et on CBS. While waiting, fans can catch up on all the show's aired episodes on Paramount+.
Throughout the 20-plus episodes of Tracker, Colter has solved many mysteries and faced several dangers. From finding a missing prized racehorse to continuously trying and failing to learn the truth behind his father's death, Hartley's character has experienced a lot in the CBS action drama series. After a historic first season, Tracker has been experiencing a bit of a sophomore slump in terms of storytelling, but one element of episode 7 could fix a lot of the show's problems. The CBS action drama TV series, created by Ben H. Winters is based on Jeffery Deaver's 2019 book The Never Game. Tracker follows Justin Hartley's Colter Shaw, a survivalist and expert tracker who makes money off of his skills, and season 2 continues his adventures. Unfortunately, the mysteries and cases in Tracker season 2 have failed to be as interesting as the ones in season 1.
Tracker season 2 will return with episode 9 on Sunday, February 16, 2025, at 8 pm Et on CBS. In the meantime, fans can catch up on old episodes on Paramount+.

The Tracker season 2 fall finale, "The Night Movers," finally moves the needle on Colter Shaw's Gina Picket case, but the outing may have been better if it focused on its weekly case instead. Tracker, the most-watched TV show of the 2023-2024 season (breaking NCIS' 5-year streak), returned for its sophomore season to high expectations, and understandably so. Marking Justin Hartley's first post-This Is Us series, Tracker follows its titular character as he roams the country for missing people's cases. In season 2, however, the CBS procedural seems to be struggling to find its identity.
Tracker follows lone-wolf survivalist Colter Shaw as he navigates the country as a reward seeker. Utilizing his expert tracking skills, he aids private citizens and law enforcement in solving various mysteries while grappling with issues from his fractured family.

Prime Video's Reacher became an instant hit with audiences when it was released in 2022. Telling the story of a retired special investigator for the US Army's Military Police, the series has adapted one of Lee Child's original novels per season. Beginning with Reacher's arrival in Margrave, where he solved the murder of his brother, the show was praised by critics for pacing, writing, and character development.
Many series fall into the category of a must-see for fans of Reacher, and that mirrors the show's combination of crime, conspiracy, and action. Different shows can appeal to different aspects of what made the Prime series work, ranging from the murder mystery side to the high-octane action. Ranging from weekly, done-in-one procedurals to serialized action shows, there are plenty of stories for Reacher fans.

Based on Tracker season 2, episode 3, "Bloodlines," Justin Hartley is a man of many talents, one of them apparently being baseball. Winters, revolves around Hartley's Colter, a survivalist and expert tracker who makes a living by helping law enforcement and private citizens across the country. Following the Tracker season 1 finale, Colter returns in season 2 with more cases and a drive to finally solve the mystery of his father's death.

Tracker star Justin Hartley explains how the exit of an original character will impact season 2. It was reported in August that Robin Weigert, who played Teddi Bruin, will not be back for Tracker season 2. Weigert, known for her roles in Deadwood, Big Little Lies, and the 2022 horror hit Smile, had been with the CBS show since the beginning. No reason has been given for Weigert's departure. But it has been noted that Teddi's wife Velma Bruin (played by Abby McEnany) will remain part of the cast and is poised for a bigger role when the top-rated drama returns next month.
In an interview with TV Insider, ahead of Tracker season 2's debut on Sunday, October 13 at 8 Pm Et on CBS, star and executive producer Hartley was asked to preview what life is for the characters in Colter Shaw's orbit and how Teddi's absence will change the story. In response,...

Tracker season 2 is on the way, and to build hype for the upcoming episodes, CBS released a trailer that teases one significant aspect of the series but unfortunately ignores the best part of the story. The CBS action drama, created by Ben H. Winters, is based on Jeffery Deaver's The Never Game and follows Justin Hartley's Colter Shaw. Colter is a survivalist and a contract tracker (as the show's title suggests) who travels around the country and finds people for a living. While Colter's job is one of Tracker's cornerstones, it isn't its biggest draw, as showcased in season 1.
Following its series premiere after Super Bowl Lviii on February 11, 2024, Tracker season 1 went on to become CBS's highest-rated scripted series of the 20232024 season.

CBS's Tracker, based on a novel by Jeffery Deaver, is filmed in Vancouver, British Columbia. Vancouver Film Studios is a popular location for various movie and TV productions. Vancouver's diverse landscapes double as various US cities for Tracker's episodes, adding to its authenticity.
CBS's Tracker follows Justin Hartley as Colter Shaw as he travels around the United States for different cases, but the majority of the TV show is filmed in one location (and it's not in the United States). The action drama series, created by Ben H. Winters, is based on Jeffery Deaver's 2019 novel The Never Game, which also centers around Colter, a survivalist who makes his living by taking on civilian cases and consulting with local law enforcement to find lost people and things. Consequently, Colter is always on the move, never settling in one place for very long.

Jensen Ackles' limited role in Tracker season 2 is good for the show's future. Russell's multi-episode arc can expand the Shaw family mystery. Ackles returns in episode 2 of Tracker season 2, premiering on October 20, 2024.

Actor Robin Weigert won't return as a series regular for Tracker Season 2, leaving a curious void in the storyline. Weigert's character Teddi Bruin will be absent, but wife Velma Bruin, played by Abby McEnany, will have a significant role. The hit series Tracker is getting a casting shakeup ahead of its return on CBS. One of the show's main stars has reportedly exited the series, putting a void in the starring cast.
Per TVLine, it's been reported that Robin Weigert, who played Teddi Bruin in the first season, is not returning as a series regular for Season 2. Weigert's absence hasn't been addressed by the network at this time, and it's not yet clear how the character's exit will be explained in the series. While Weigert is parting ways with the series, word is that Abby McEnany is still set to appear as Velma, Teddi's wife. Reportedly, Velma will be taking on a very interesting role with something that was hinted at with Reenies (Fiona Rene) character in the final couple episodes of the first season.

Tracker star Justin Hartley claimed that Colter Shaw isn't ready for a relationship due to his job. Colter and Reenie have chemistry, but it may take a while for them to get together. Despite Colter's single status, future seasons may see him open up to romance.
It seems as though Justin Hartley's Colter Shaw doesn't have much time for romance in Tracker, and while I would love to see the protagonist start dating one character in particular, it makes sense why they can't be together (yet). The CBS action drama TV series, created by Ben H. Winters, is based on Jeffery Deaver's 2019 book The Never Game (which was followed by three more novels). Tracker centers around Colter, a survivalist and (as the show's name suggests) tracker who travels around the country, picking up jobs from law enforcement or private citizens to find missing people.

Before Justin Hartley found major success playing Kevin Pearson on the NBC drama series This is Us, he was known for his role as the Green Arrow on Smallville. The actor, who is currently leading the cast of the action drama Tracker, says there are similarities between the arrow-toting vigilante and his new character, Colter Shaw.
Speaking to ComicBook, Hartley explained how every character he's played influences his next performance. "I try to learn from all of the characters that I play, personally," he said. "Throughout life, you hopefully change in a good way. Maybe not change, but adapt, and hopefully become a better person. I think I try to keep the characters different, because they're all so different, but I like to make a list of things that I have in common with these characters that I'm playing, and things that I don't have in common with them. That's how I start.

CBS could explore a Tracker spinoff starring Jensen Ackles as Russell Shaw, given the show's success. Russell Shaw appeared in Tracker season 1, setting up a potential spinoff following his work. Jensen Ackles' experience as a troubled brother makes him a perfect fit for a Tracker spinoff with Russell.
Tracker was an overwhelming success during its first season, and following its achievements, one might wonder if CBS will explore spinoff possibilities, including one revolving around Jensen Ackles as Russell Shaw. The action drama, created by Ben H. Although he busies himself with locating people and solving cases, Colter is haunted by people and events from his past, counting his older brother, Russell.

CBS has renewed “Tracker” for a second season.
Based on Jeffery Deaver’s novel “The Never Game,” the series stars Justin Hartley as Colter Shaw, a lone-wolf survivalist who roams the country as a reward seeker, using his expert tracking skills to help private citizens and law enforcement solve mysteries while contending with his own fractured family.
The series premiere aired directly after the Super Bowl — which Nielsen measured as the most-watched telecast of all time — and reached 18.4 million viewers, a number that Paramount Global says has now grown to 30 million across platforms. Three more episodes have aired since, and continue to perform strongly without football lead-in: Episode 2 hit 6.9 million viewers, Episode 2 hit 7.1 million and Episode 3 hit 7.4 million.
The series was created for television by Ben H. Winters, who executive produces alongside Hartley, Ken Olin and Elwood Reid. Deaver serves as producer. 20th Television is the studio.
