"That's no freakin' racoon!" "It ain't a bear!" Lionsgate has debuted the final official trailer for a cult fave horror comedy B-movie called Big Freaking Rat, which is indeed a creature feature flick about this giant frickin' rat. This was actually made & first premiered back 2020, way before Hollywood went on to make Cocaine Bear, it's just only getting a real release now. Ranger Brody believes looking after his teenage niece and nephew will be the biggest challenge of the summer until his brand-new campground is turned into a den of terror by a massive mutant rat. Years of dumping toxic waste into the land have created a monstrous rodent with a taste for blood, and now it’s up to a reluctant band of warriors to exterminate the beast. Oh s&*t! What will they do?! Horror veteran Felissa Rose stars with Scott C. Roe, Caleb Thomas, Nino Aldi, Caroline Abbott,...

"Get ready for the ultimate predator!" Madman Films has released an official international trailer for Big Freaking Rat, a ridiculous B-movie Troma horror special from filmmaker Thomas J. Churchill (also of the B-movies Nation's Fire and The Amityville Harvest). This was apparently already released last fall in the US, but we haven't heard about it until now. So why not give it a look?! Nothing like a gnarly Big Freaking Rat to ruin your day. Ha ha. A ranger is about to open a campground for the season. Everything is in order and the camp seems peaceful until a giant rat, mutated by dumped toxic waste, begins killing the campers and rangers. The film stars Scott C. Roe, Caleb Thomas, Cece Kelly, Nino Aldi, Mark Hoadley, and Theresa Ireland. It is one of those films to stay far away from, unless you want to laugh at how bad it is.

The Legend of Korra, the sequel series to the acclaimed Avatar: The Last Airbender, is getting the SteelBook® treatment! This means all four seasons are available with awe-inspiring artwork by Caleb Thomas. And Den of Geek is hosting a giveaway to celebrate!
On each season (book) cover, is a stunning work of art highlighting a different element in the Avatar universe. Following the footsteps of the previous Avatar, Aang, Korra must master the four elements of earth, fire, air, and water. Only by mastering all four will she be able to bring balance to the world. The four pieces cover this “physical” journey, saving the most difficult element for last, to Korra’s chagrin.

How the can you not watch a horror film called Big Freaking Rat? Give your film a title that involves a oversized creatures and I’m there. From director and writer Josh Hasty, the new Fall season slasher flick Candy Corn makes for a fun Halloween treat. Set on the October holiday and featuring several familiar faces from popular slasher movies from the past, the movie is clearly a love letter to some of our favorites from the genre dating back to the '70s and '80s. At a time when the horror genre is filled with nonstop reboots, prequels, sequels, and re-imaginings, it's always great when an entertaining original movie enters the scene, and that certainly applies to the fun popcorn flick that is Candy Corn.
Like every truly great slasher movie, the plot for Candy Corn is fairly simplistic, focusing on a paranormal murderer seeking vengeance on a small town on Halloween night. It follows social outcast Jacob Adkins, who has been made the target of a group of bullies for some good old-fashioned hazing.

His only escape is his love of horror and the creatures he creates. A chance run-in with his tormentors in a convenience store parking lot on Halloween leaves Timmy brutally beaten. Walking home he stumbles upon a mysterious pumpkin. Despondent from the vicious attack he escapes to his private world and begins carving the pumpkin, wishing for revenge. We've received word that Candy Corn, from Josh Hasty, has been picked up by Epic Pictures and will be distributed through their Dread label. A fall theatrical release is planned for the Us, while the movie is being taken to Cannes next week to seek international distribution. Here's what Josh Hasty had to say about his project being acquired:
"For the last three years of my life Candy Corn has been a labor of love that’s consumed my every waking moment. I had the most incredible team of filmmakers that stood behind my ambitious goals through a very trying and stressful production. When you spend this much time with something you had to consistently keep alive against all odds, the thought of handing it off to a distributor can be horrifying.

As a lifelong Monster Kid, the only thing better than a good horror movie is a good horror movie that’s set on Halloween. Despite the fact that the entire month of October is devoted to horror, there are surprisingly few movies actually set on our favorite holiday—and even fewer when talking about the really good ones.
The Terror of Hallow’s Eve, the new movie from accomplished makeup effects artist and director Todd Tucker, is a celebration of Halloween, of monsters, of everything we horror fans love about the season. It begins as an autobiographical story about Tim (Caleb Thomas), a 15-year-old kid obsessed with monsters, who gets bullied by some douchebag classmates on Halloween. When left alone to pass out candy by his doting single mom (Sarah Lancaster), a nurse who has to work the night shift, Tim conjures up the spirit of The Trickster (Doug Jones...

Growing up is hard and for fifteen-year-old Timmy Stevens it’s no exception. Scrawny and nerdy, he’s relentlessly tormented by the town bullies. Unknowingly, Timmy summons the Trickster, an ancient evil, who offers to grant his wish: scare the bullies to death.
I’ll be honest, The Terror of Hallow’s Eve was The film I was anticipating the most at this years Frightfest.

One of my most-anticipated from of this years Frightfest offerings is Todd Tucker’s The Terror of Hallow’s Eve which stars Caleb Thomas, Jt Neal, Annie Read, Juliet Landau, Eric Roberts, Doug Jones, Christian Kane, and Sarah Lancaster. Why, you may ask, is a generically titled film, about a wish-granting demon is so high on my must-see list for this years festival? Because Todd Tucker is the man behind one of this decades Best kids movies… Monster Mutt – which is an old-school family film in the most traditional sense: there’s no swearing, no violence and no sex, it really is the epitome of a family movie. Oh and did I mention that it features practical effects thanks to Tucker’s “other” job in SFX?
Given the fact I adored Monster Mutt I have high hopes for The Terror of Hallow’s Eve. Check out the poster and trailer below!
