If you've ever wondered what would happen if you found yourself launched unexpectedly into the Star Wars universe, Skeleton Crew has an answer for you. Just like many of us, protagonist Wim has spent his life admiring the Jedi and eagerly following along with their many escapades. When he and three other children discover a spaceship, they find themselves on the adventure of a lifetime. With each twist and turn of the series, the four children grow and learn, eventually using these lessons to save their planet from pirates. This fun and energetic series featured tons of great moments.

We've seen the finale of Skeleton Crew, though we hope this isn't the last we see of the characters, and the culmination of this kid-centric show was emotional and exhilarating. Before I ever saw a minute of the show, I hoped to feel watching this the way I did watching coming-of-age adventures from the 1980s, and my hope was satisfied. What I found outstanding about the series was its depiction of defeat and triumph for each of its characters. I'll explore how that's true in alphabetical order since I can't otherwise decide who should be in first place.

The latest Star Wars TV show, Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, is led by an incredibly talented ensemble of young actors, all of whom already have some impressive experience. Skeleton Crew's young cast certainly shines in this tale of adventure, centering on pirates in the Star Wars galaxy's Outer Rim during the earliest years of the New Republic's governance. Unable to find a way back to their home planet of At Attin, these children have to learn how to navigate a dangerous and untrustworthy galaxy.
At the center of this young cast are four brilliant actors, though there have already been some additional young members to the cast who have a lot to add as well. Wim, Fern, Neel, and Kb have all captured the hearts of the audience, though it's not the first time these actors have accomplished such in their careers. Here are the ages of all the...

The fourth episode of Skeleton Crew, “Can’t say I remember no At Attin,” is now streaming on Disney+, and it thrusts our young heroes and their somewhat shady new companion into the middle of a war between two rival factions on a planet that looks a lot like At Attin... after a nuclear apocalypse.
Spoilers follow.
After blasting off to the coordinates Kh'ymm gave them in episode 3, the crew soon realize that they have not found their way home after all. This planet is known as At Achrann, and is one of the other four jewels of the Old Republic that almost seems to have passed into myth over the years.
The kids tell Jod to wait with the ship (Sm-33 hilariously engages "babysitter mode"), and leave to explore the planet.

Star Wars: Skeleton Crew has returned with its fourth episode, and we're inching closer to uncovering the truth about At Attin, The Great Work, and the Jewels of the Old Republic. The four younglings leading the series — Wim (Ravi Cabot-Conyers), Neel (Robert Timothy Smith), Fern (Ryan Kiera Armstrong), and Kb (Kyriana Kratter) — accidentally departed their home planet and have been struggling to find their way back since. Now, teamed with a loyal yet questionable droid named Sm-33 (Nick Frost) and a Force-sensitive former pirate captain named Jod Na Nawood (Jude Law), their journey takes them back to their hidden star system. On At Achrann, a mysteriously similar planet to At Atinn, they encounter General Strix (Mathieu Kassovitz) and his daughter Hayna (Hala Finley), leaders of the dilapidated planet's Troika Clan. With the stakes rising and the narrative focusing, spotting the Easter eggs and references takes a close look. Did you...

Not everyone is born to be the fastest, the bravest, and the most heroic. In Skeleton Crew, Neel doesn't have the traits of a typical hero, but that doesn't make him any less important than his brave young friends.
In Episode 4, "Can't Say I Remember No At Attin," Neel, Fern, Kb, and Wim find themselves on a planet eerily similar to their home planet. At Achrann has the same buildings, structures, playgrounds, and school, but it's nothing like the kids' homeworld. Instead, it's ravaged by war, nearly burnt to the ground, and overrun by chaos.
Amidst all the ash, our young heroes find signs of life when they meet a teenage girl named Hayna. She's been raised to fight, which seems shocking even though it's the norm in Star Wars to meet young soldiers. Hayna is the opposite of all the kids, especially Neel. While our young protagonists, minus Neel,...

The following contains spoilers for "Star Wars: Skeleton Crew" season 1, episode 4, "Can't Say I Remember No At Attlin."
"Star Wars: Skeleton Crew" episode 4 once again brings Jod Na Nawood (Jude Law) and his adolescent castaway crew to a new planet, where we meet just enough new faces that they get a chance to make an impact. One key figure on the episode's planet, At Achrann, is Troik clan member Hayna (Hala Finley), who soon gains respect for Neel (voiced by Robert Timothy Smith) and his anti-violence streak. While Finley has a good few projects on her acting CV, film fans might perk up their ears even more when they see her father, Troik leader General Strix.
If Strix looks familiar, you've probably paid attention to international cinema in the 1990s and 2000s. The general with a penchant for training child soldiers is played by none other than actor and filmmaker Mathieu Kassovitz,...

"Skeleton Crew" has been the biggest surprise related to "Star Wars" since "Andor" took the world by storm with its poignant political drama. Initially sold as a lighter type of "Star Wars" adventure inspired by "The Goonies," the show has proven to be one of the most original and engaging "Star Wars" projects in years. Sure, it's aimed more at kids and has a lighter tone, but "Skeleton Crew" also doesn't shy away from giving us some of the scariest imagery in the franchise (whether that's a variety of creepy, bloodthirsty alien pirates or a killer robot hunting a group of kids on a dark spaceship).

Neel (voiced by Robert Timothy Smith) on "Star Wars: Skeleton Crew" might look like a cute "Star Wars" mascot character archetype, but the plucky blue alien keeps subverting the odds and is well on his way to establish himself as the series Mvp. In episode 4, titled "Can't Say I Remember No At Attlin" after Sm-33's (voiced by Nick Frost) surprisingly meaningful favorite saying, Neel's courage saves Wim (Ravi Cabot-Conyers), Fern (Ryan Kiera Armstrong), and Kb (Kyriana Kratter) from certain death. Meanwhile, his pacifism and honesty manage to impress future Troik clan chieftain Hayna so thoroughly that his charm may inspire her to become a peaceful ruler -- thus potentially ending the cycle of violence that has plagued At Achrann for who knows how long.
The tough but thoughtful Hayna is deftly played by Hala Finley.

Doctor Strange actor Benedict Cumberbatch has teased his upcoming remake of Danny DeVito's beloved 35-year-old satirical black comedy-drama film The War of Roses, calling it "a joy to make." Announced earlier this year, Cumberbatch's The Roses is directed by Jay Roach and also stars MCU alum Olivia Colman.
Per Variety, Cumberbatch discussed The Roses and his other upcoming projects at the Red Sea Film Festival. The actor stated that the movie had "pretty cool ingredients" in his "amazing" co-star Colman and Tony McNamara's "great script." The War of the Roses reimagining will mark Cumberbatch's first role as the lead in a comedy, and he has found the experience gratifying. "We'll see if it'll get there, but it was a joy to make," he said. Produced by Searchlight Pictures, the movie's cast includes Ncuti Gatwa, Kate McKinnon, Andy Samberg, Sunita Mani, Zoë Chao, Jamie Demetriou, and Belinda Bromilow.

Venom: The Last Dance is wrapping up its time in theaters, meaning that its final box office haul is now available. According to Box Office Mojo as of Sunday, December 8, the Tom Hardy-starring film has a domestic haul of $139 million and a foreign gross of $333 million, adding up to $473 million globally. Given Venom 3's reported budget of $120 million, this makes the film a modest success. However, it comes up short when compared to the other films in the series with 2018's Venom and 2021's Venom: Let There Be Carnage grossing about $213 domestically.

Knull, the presumed arch-villain of Sony's Spider-Man Universe, could have been a lot more terrifying in Venom: The Last Dance if he looked a little more similar to the recently revealed concept art. Knull is the eldritch god of darkness and one of Marvel's most genuinely terrifying villains in both appearance and power. Unfortunately, he remained off-screen for most of the movie - though audiences were granted a slightly clearer look at Andy Serkis' villain in the post-credits scene for Venom: The Last Dance, which also teased his return in the future.
Concept artist Karl Lindberg recently unveiled original concept art for Knull on ArtStation (shared by TheVenomSite on X), proving that his face reveal at the end of Venom: The Last Dance could have been a lot more terrifying. The art introduces a lot more red to Knull's color scheme as he sits on a throne that evokes...

2024 has produced a few movies which critics and audiences can't seem to agree on, and their Rotten Tomatoes scores highlight the way they have split opinion. Rotten Tomatoes gives two scores to a movie. The "Tomatometer" score measures critical opinions based on published reviews, while the newly-revamped "Popcornmeter" score offers a way for audiences to log their own opinions. It's often the case that these two scores are very close to one another, but a few movies break the system.
More often that not, if there's a big difference between a Tomatomer score and a Popcornmeter score, it's because a movie is a simple crowdpleaser that critics don't care for. Critics are more focused on the craft of a movie and the ideas behind it. Many people also think like this, of course, but the majority of the public rate a movie based on how entertaining it is. Venom: The Last Dance is currently making waves at the box office, but a fourth film in the movie franchise has not been confirmed yet. As of right now, the film is living up to its title, serving as the final appearance for Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock aka Venom. However, it seems that Sony is not done with the anti-hear just yet, as a new Marvel rumor suggests that Agent Venom is the next film in the franchise.
According to Daniel Richtman, Sony is developing an Agent Venom film in the wake of the final installment of the Venom trilogy starring Tom Hardy. Of course, this is only a rumor and should be stressed as such. However, considering the studio is always looking to make more Spider-Man-related films, continuing to cash in on their most successful Marvel franchise makes a lot of sense. Okay “Marvel maniacs”, are you ready for a deep deep dive into another franchise? After all, it’s been nearly three months since the blockbuster “mash-up” Deadpool And Wolverine. Of course you are, but hold up, true believer. This isn’t the beloved MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe). Rather, we’re back in the “Sony Spider-verse”. So Tom Holland is off polishing his web-shooters (not a metaphor), as we get another “spin-off” from Spidey’s long-running comics series. And, unfortunately, this isn’t another romp in the surprisingly fun animated epics. No, this is the second live-action flick this year, after the “so bad it may be good” Madame Web, and while Kraven sharpens his claws for his December attack. And, sorry that vapid vamp Morbius is not returning, although this film’s focus has had better luck with two previous outings in 2018 and 2021. Now, with this third entry, Sony promises...

Director Robert Rodriguez‘s action thriller Hypnotic, which stars Ben Affleck (Air), has taken a bumpy road on its way out into the world. It was delayed by the pandemic, shut down on three separate occasions, mixed up in an insurance lawsuit, and its main financier and distributor crumbled while it was filming. The movie spent two years in post-production, without a domestic distributor in place. It finally reached theatres earlier this month, courtesy of Ketchup Entertainment – and now it has received a digital release on all major platforms! For example, Hypnotic can be viewed on Amazon at This Link.

Ben Affleck stars in this mind-bending sci-fi thriller from co-writer / director (and co-cinematographer / editor) Robert Rodriguez. Essentially ripping off Inception, only on a fraction of that film’s budget, it’s a fast-paced rug-puller that’s almost gleefully nonsensical. In a good way.
Affleck plays Detective Rourke, who’s introduced getting hypnosis therapy, because he isn’t over the trauma of his losing his young daughter Minnie (Ionie Nieves) after she was kidnapped from a playground when he looked away for a second. A period of time has passed and Minnie’s body has never been found, so when Rourke finds a photo of her while investigating a mysterious bank robbery case, he becomes convinced that the culprit, Dellrayne (William Fichtner), knows her whereabouts.

James Gunn’s band of galactic rascals are proving their worth at the box office as Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 enjoyed the best second-weekend hold of any sequel in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the second-best among any MCU title, according to final weekend numbers.
From Marvel Studios and Disney, the threequel grossed an estimated $62.6 million from 4,450 theaters in its sophomore outing, a mere 47 percent decline and more than enough to crush the competition (that’s up from Sunday’s estimate of $60.5 million, a 49 percent decline). In more good news, the pic crossed the $200 million mark domestically to finish Sunday with a cume of $215.6 million.
Overseas, Guardians 3 took in another $91.9 million from 52 markets for a foreign tally of $315.6 million — including a pleasing $58.4 million from China — and $530.9 million globally.

Alfred Hitchcock gets a sci-fi twist with Hypnotic. The film revolves around a detective investigating the case of his missing daughter, only to find a local bank robbery that has seeming ties to her disappearance. This leads him down a rabbit hole involving a group of people known as Hypnotics, powerful hypnotists who have the ability to control the minds of those around them.
Ben Affleck leads the cast of Hypnotic alongside Alice Braga, William Fichtner, J.D. Pardo, Dayo Okeniyi, Jeff Fahey, Jackie Earle Haley, and Hala Finley. Blending the multi-layered twists of a classic Hitchcock story with the large-scale concepts of modern sci-fi blockbusters, the film is an interesting new direction for filmmaker Robert Rodriguez.

Find someone who looks at you the way Ben Affleck looks at genres that peaked in the ‘90s. His ongoing quest to save the middlebrow movie has seen him try his hand at everything from big budget sports dramas to old school erotic thrillers in recent years as he tries to prove that entertaining adults is still a noble goal.
His latest role, which finds him starring in in Robert Rodriguez’s “Hypnotic,” is a similar throwback to the kind of nonsensically complex, star-driven thrillers that could be instantly forgotten before enjoying a long DVD shelf life in 2002. If TBS launched its own airline and started producing original films designed to be viewed on two hour commuter flights, this would be an ideal first project.
The elevator pitch for “Hypnotic” may well have been, “Take ‘Inception,’ strip it of any serious artistry and nuance, cram as many twists as humanly possible into 90 minutes,...

Along with well-timed twists and gripping mysteries, Robert Rodriguez's Hypnotic features a roster of intriguing characters, played by talented cast members. Conceptualized around the same time Rodriguez was filming Spy Kids 2, Hypnotic has reportedly been in development for nearly two decades. Its lengthy development period and the director's steadfast passion for the project are not surprising, given how its early reviews are lauding it for its meticulously crafted blend of espionage and science fiction.
Hypnotic's espionage-centric narrative revolves around detective Danny Rourke's hunt for a bank robber. Meanwhile, its science fiction kicks when it turns out that the bank robber has the ability to hypnotize people and bend their realities at his will. As Rourke races against time to catch the robber, mysteries of his past begin surfacing, raising the stakes of his mission even higher than he had initially anticipated. The Cannes Film Festival on Monday announced a raft of new additions to the Official Selection of its 76th edition running May 16-27.
Two new films have been added to the Competition lineup: Jean-Stéphane Sauvaire’s Black Flies and Catherine Corsini’s Le Retour.
Sauvaire’s thriller stars Tye Sheridan opposite Sean Penn as a rookie paramedic paired with a veteran on a drive through New York.
According to local media reports, Corsini’s mother-and-daughters drama Le Retour was to have been announced as the seventh female-directed film in Competition during the main line-up press conference on April 13.
Allegations of inappropriate behaviour on the Corsica-based set – detailed in reports by French newspapers Le Parisien and Libération – forced the festival to put its selection on hold, while it looked into the matter.
Cannes Delegate General Thierry Frémaux is reported to have said that he would not be swayed by rumors.

Hypnotic is the upcoming science fiction action thriller from Robert Rodriguez and much has been announced about the cast, story, release date, trailer, and more. Hypnotic follows a detective played by Ben Affleck who goes on a mission to find his missing daughter and solve a string of major thefts. The movie stars a cast of talented actors and the production side is a family affair with Rodriguez's children working on key parts of the music, story, and more. Hypnotic is shaping up to be an inventive, and action-packed spy movie and one of the few original upcoming sci-fi movies not based on IP.
Rodriguez directs his 20th feature film with Hypnotic and his first since the 2020 We Can Be Heroes that premiered on Netflix. Unlike that movie and Rodriguez’s more child-friendly films, Hypnotic is an R-rated thriller, putting it in the same company as Sin City and his debut film El Mariachi.

"Are you familiar with the concept of hypnotics?" Learn more in this trailer. Ketchup Entertainment has revealed an official US trailer for Hypnotic, a sneaky mystery thriller from Robert Rodriguez, which he also co-wrote and produced. This recently premiered as a work-in-progress at SXSW, with a final release set for May in US theaters. This looks super twisty and deceptively clever! A detective becomes entangled in a mystery involving his missing daughter and a secret government program and soon finds himself spiraling down a rabbit hole investigating reality-bending bank robberies. Ben Affleck stars as Daniel Rourke, with Alice Braga, William Fichtner, Jeff Fahey, Kelly Frye, Jd Pardo, and Hala Finley. This trailer has some strong Inception vibes, with all the reality-bending, as well as some Fincher flair. Love seeing William Fichtner in this as the "bad guy" trickster, great casting choice for that role. I am absolutely in for this ride.

The Hypnotic trailer reveals the first full look at Ben Affleck in Robert Rodriguez's new movie. Known for directing an array of stylized action films like Desperado, From Dusk till Dawn, Sin City, Planet Terror, Machete, and Alita: Battle Angel, Rodriguez started working on the script for Hypnotic way back in 2002 and recently called it "one of [his] favorite stories." In his first collaboration with the director, the action thriller stars Affleck as a detective searching for his missing daughter, but with several sci-fi twists in store.
Now, after a work-in-progress cut of the film was screened at South by Southwest to rapturous reactions, IGN has unveiled the first official Hypnotic trailer.
The trailer, which can be seen above, introduces Affleck as an Austin-based investigator named Danny Rourke whose daughter is kidnaped at a park under mysterious circumstances. Determined to find his missing daughter, the detective soon spirals down a...

Director Robert Rodriguez‘s action thriller Hypnotic, which stars Ben Affleck, was screened at the SXSW film festival last weekend, and Rodriguez cautioned the audience that the movie was still a “work in progress”. But he’s going to need to wrap up the work very soon, because Deadline reports that Hypnotic is set to receive a 2000+ screen release in the United States on May 12th, courtesy of Ketchup Entertainment.
Scripted by Rodriguez (Machete) and Max Borenstein (Kong: Skull Island), Hypnotic sees Affleck taking on the role of a detective who finds himself spiralling down a rabbit hole while investigating a series of reality-bending crimes mysteriously connected to his missing daughter. Aided by a gifted psychic, he is pursued by a lethal specter who he believes holds the key to finding his daughter. But more rabbit holes await..

Exclusive: Fresh off a surprise “work in progress” screening at SXSW, Robert Rodriguez’s action-thriller Hypnotic, starring Ben Affleck, has been set for a May 12 U.S. release.
As we revealed last month, Ketchup Entertainment will be launching the movie on more than 2,000 screens.
The looming release for a movie that remains unfinished is yet another talking point in the project’s tumultuous journey to screen.
Little has been straight-forward for Hypnotic but the warm reception it received on Sunday night was a welcome respite for its creatives and financiers. It’s unusual for a big budget film to get a public “work in progress” screening at a festival but Austin was a smart choice given the home crowd’s reverence for Texas-native Rodriguez.
The director said today: “I’ve been working on this film for many years now, and to see the reaction from my home town audience at SXSW was humbling and validating.
