One year ago, on September 30, 2022, the Kannada film industry witnessed a historic moment when Rishab Shetty’s Kantara hit the screens. Raj B Shetty, the lead actor and writer of the Toby has revealed that Rishab Shetty his team are working on the script of the sequel of Kanatara, Kantara 2, in Mangalore. The film, which is expected to go on floors next year, will have a budget of 100 crores, which is ten times bigger than the budget of the first part.

Kantara, which released in September 2022, was a huge commercial and critical success. The film, which was produced by Vijay Kiragandur under Hombale Films, grossed over 400 crores worldwide and became the second highest-grossing Kannada film of all time after K.G.F: Chapter 2. The film also won six awards at the 69th Filmfare Awards South, including Best Film, Best Director and Best Actor for Rishab Shetty.

Superhit movie ‘Kantara’ actor and helmer Rishab Shetty’s latest update featuring his photograph with his friend and ‘777 Charlie’ star Rakshit Shetty has triggered of speculation that the two Shettys are coming together for ‘Richard Antony’.

Kerala’s noted music band, ‘Thaikudam Bridge’ has stated that it would take legal recourse against super-hit movie “Kantara”, accusing the makers of resorting to plagiarism and that its song “Varaha Roopam” had been a copy of their song “Navarasam”.

Thaikudam Bridge said: “We would like our listeners to know that Thaikudam Bridge is in no way or form associated with ‘Kantara’. The unavoidable similarities between our IP ‘Navarasam’ and ‘Varaha Roopam’ in terms of audio is therefore a blatant infringement of copyright laws. From our standpoint, the line between ‘Inspired’ and ‘Plagiarised’ is distinct and indisputable and therefore, we will be seeking legal action against the creative team responsible for this. There has been no acknowledgment of our rights over the content and the song is propagated as an original piece of work by the movie’s creative team.”
