From playing drums to sixty thousand people to directing television watched by millions, Abe Juckes has a talent for engaging audiences.
An accomplished, BAFTA-winning British director, with more than 20 years' experience in the television industry, Abe has a love of drama as a visual medium and prides himself on being known as an actors' director. He has an eye for detail and a passion for storytelling and has directed more than 130 episodes of continuing drama for the BBC, ITV and Channel 4.
Abe's background in the music industry, touring the globe as drummer for OMD and meeting people from every walk of life, has helped inform his directorial style and his ability to tell a story with rhythm and tempo.
His expertise has made him a popular returning director on shows such as Eastenders, Coronation Street, Emmerdale and Hollyoaks, where he believes that understanding, supporting, and enhancing the power and subtlety in an actor's performance is crucial.
Abe directed the episodes of Coronation Street that won the BAFTA for Best Soap and Continuing Drama in 2022.
The next step for Abe is to move into serial drama, whether that is helping to create a show from the ground up or acting as a safe pair of hands for later episodes within a series.
