The Last of Us showrunner Craig Mazin has shared one of his favorite scenes from the upcoming second season, while praising lead stars Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey’s performances. The next installment will be based on Naughty Dog’s best-selling video game sequel The Last of Us Part II, which features a grown-up Ellie.
Speaking at a recent press conference via GamesRadar+, Mazin expressed his excitement for fans to see how they brought to life one of the most iconic scenes from the video game. The scene in particular involves Joel surprising Ellie on her 16th birthday with a trip to the Wyoming Museum. "I mean, this is not a spoiler. In the trailer, you see Pedro and Bella both by the space capsule in the museum, and that scene is the first thing that [co-showrunner Neil Druckmann] ever showed me from Part 2," he revealed. With Daredevil: Born Again season 1 finale, Andor season 2, and The Last of Us's long-awaited second season, April is shaping up to be an awesome month for television.
As we first reported on GameFragger.com, HBO and Max have released new character posters for The Last of Us season 2 putting the spotlight on the show's new and returning cast members. We're sure you'll also notice that these pay homage to The Last of Us Part II's iconic cover art.
Fans of the Naughty Dog video game franchise will be aware of just how dark things should get in season 2. However, there's nothing to say this series is heading down the same route, especially with a third season expected to follow as the story being told here continues to expand.
"They think they do," showrunner Craig Mazin recently told Screen Rant when he was asked about fans thinking they know where things are heading.

Warner Bros.'s 2021 reboot of Mortal Kombat was a fun and delightfully bloody film featuring plenty of fan service while telling a cohesive story anyone unfamiliar with the games could follow. It was a massive hit on the service formally known as HBO Max, becoming the most-streamed title of that year. But despite its overall quality, the movie suffered from both a lack of scope and a lack of female characters among its large and diverse cast. Both of which director Simon McQuoid promises will be addressed in the upcoming sequel Mortal Kombat 2.
McQuoid, who made his feature directorial debut with Mortal Kombat and sits behind the helm of the sequel, told Entertainment Weekly that in addition to returning cast member Jessica McNamee as Sonya Blade, Mortal Kombat 2 will also feature Adeline Rudolph as Kitana, Tati Gabrielle as Jade, Ana Thu Nguyen as Queen Sindel, and several other as yet-undisclosed characters.

The popular video game franchise has turned into one of the best shows on TV, and it’s returning with new episodes soon.
“The Last of Us” Season 1 saw the second-largest cross-platform debut in the history of HBO and its streaming service Max — called HBO Max at the time. With that level of success, it was only a matter of time before the show released a second season. That time is fast approaching, and with the final trailer released, there are just a few more weeks of waiting before we can finally take it all in.

Training is over, as the stakes of Mortal Kombat 2's tournament will have consequences for the film and the franchise moving forward. It has been four years since Mortal Kombat debuted in theaters and on Max, and the long-anticipated sequel Mortal Kombat 2 is set to hit theaters in October 2025. A common criticism of 2021's Mortal Kombat was how it essentially acted as a set-up for the epic tournament played in the games, but it is now the main selling point of the sequel and a major factor in the narrative.
Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Mortal Kombat video game co-creator and creative director of NetherRealm Studios Ed Boon spoke about the stakes of Mortal Kombat 2. If Earthrealm loses its 10th consecutive tournament against Outworld, then the villain Shao Kahn (played by Martin Ford) will be allowed to invade Earth and take over. Dakota Johnson is a matchmaker who gets more than she bargained for in the new trailer for Materialists. The rom-com-with-a-twist comes from the writer/director of the Academy Award-nominated film Past Lives. The film was first announced in February 2024, with producers Christine Vachon and Pamela Koffler of Killer Films attached to the project, along with David Hinojosa of the 2Am production company. The trailer from A24 just dropped.
Materialists stars Dakota Johnson, Chris Evans, and Pedro Pascal. The very brief plot synopsis reads, “A young, ambitious New York City matchmaker finds herself torn between the perfect match and her imperfect ex.” The trailer also features a new original song by Japanese Breakfast. Pedro Pascal takes a break from his usual intense action/dramatic roles for a change of pace with this film as he swoops in as a romantic lead to sweep Johnson off her feet. Multiple characters killed off in the first film will be returning in Mortal Kombat 2. However, fans should know that there will be a good storyline explanation for this rather than falling back on hokey tricks.
Ed Boon, who co-created Mortal Kombat with John Tobias, teased what fans can expect from the new movie. Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, he confirmed that lore from the video games will influence how characters like Josh Lawson's Kano and Max Huang's Kung Lao appear in Mortal Kombat 2 after having unfortunate fates in the previous film. As Boon noted, fans of the recent games are already very familiar with deceased characters returning, opening the door to make this possible.
"I can say Josh Lawson doesn't play Kano's twin," Boon said. "We've killed a number of characters who are in Mortal Kombat 1 and our latest games. So we deal with spirits and the NetherRealm and things like that.

The first images from Mortal Kombat 2, debuted by EW, reveal “The Boys” star Karl Urban as Johnny Cage, a fan-favorite character from the video game franchise.
The photos also show Adeline Rudolph (“Chilling Adventures of Sabrina”) as Kitana, Hiroyuki Sanada returning as Scorpion, and bodybuilder Martyn Ford (“The Sandman”) as antagonist Shao Kahn.
“You finally get to see Johnny Cage,” Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon tells EW. “His integration into the Mortal Kombat story and universe is a big part of what this movie explores. He’s a washed-up Hollywood guy thrown into this magical, ultra-violent thing.
“Karl, his depiction of Johnny Cage is different than our games in some ways. He’s adding his own flare to it, but I think it’ll feel fresh. There’s like a novelty factor in there.”

HBO recently debuted an intense full trailer for the second season of The Last of Us, and we now have a new poster and some promo stills to go with it.
The key art features returning protagonists Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey), while the images spotlight several supporting characters as well as the season's new antagonist, Abby (Kaitlyn Dever).
Abby Anderson might well go down as one of the most despised video game characters in history (you'll find out why soon enough), and Dever was fully aware that taking on the role would open the door to a certain amount of backlash.

Underworld star Kate Beckinsale and Mortal Kombat’sLewis Tan will join forces for a new “under-the-radar" action thriller from director James Nunn, the filmmaker behind the Scott Adkins action outings One Shot and One More Shot. Yes, it is pretty much everything you could hope for as an action movie fan. You're welcome. Titled Lioness, production is now underway in the United Kingdom, and the first details have now been revealed.
According to a report by Deadline, Capstone will finance the action movie, which will follow “an ex-black ops team who reunite to pull off a desperate heist to save the life of their leader’s (Beckinsale) eight-year-old daughter.” Which, frankly, sounds like the kind of pitch perfect, no-nonsense plot that action dreams are often made of.
Alongside Kate Beckinsale and Lewis Tan, the rest of the cast includes Rasmus Hardiker, Alice Krige, Bailey Patrick, Tom Bennett, Matt Willis, and Roxy Striar.

Every choice has consequences. After two years of a highly anticipated wait, the record-breaking Emmy award winning HBO series The Last of Us returns.
Season 2 picks up five years after the events of the first season, which saw Joel (Pedro Pascal) massacre a team of doctors who were hoping to cure civilization from the zombie-like disease ravaging the surviving population. The only problem with this plan is that the cost of a potential vaccine came at the expense of fatally experimenting on the mysteriously immune Ellie (Bella Ramsey)—a price Joel wasn’t willing to pay. Now, as a result of their respective actions while searching for safety, Joel and Ellie will be forced to face repercussions from their individual pasts.
Some new faces will appear in Season 2 of The Last of Us, all of whom are from the video game. Kaitlyn Dever, Isabela Merced, Tati Gabrielle and more will bring these characters to life.

The internet is, once again, in shambles. Season 2 of The Last of Us hasn’t even aired yet, and fans are already sharpening their pitchforks over the casting of Kaitlyn Dever as Abby. Why? Because, in their eyes, she simply doesn’t have the same physique as her video game counterpart.
Now, if you’ve spent any time in the depths of gaming forums or X, you’ve probably seen the complaints that Abby is supposed to be jacked and Kaitlyn Dever isn’t buff enough. Some fans are so distraught, you’d think HBO just announced The Last of Us Season 2 would be a musical. But Dever is taking it all in stride.

HBO has released the official trailer for season 2 of the original drama series The Last of Us during a panel at South by Southwest (SXSW) featuring Pedro Pascal, Bella Ramsey, Kaitlyn Dever, Isabela Merced, Gabriel Luna, Young Mazino, Craig Mazin, and Neil Druckmann.
The seven-episode second season premieres on Sunday, April 13 on HBO and will be available to stream on Max. New episodes will debut on subsequent Sundays.
This edge-of-your-seat sneak peek includes plenty of big hints about what's to come, including the growing divide between Joel and Ellie. It's clear now that she's discovered his deception and, as fans of the games will know, the ramifications are a major plot point.
We also see more of the infected (one of the biggest season 1 complaints is that their screen time was too limited), but only a few fleeting glimpses of Abby. It appears her role in the story is being...

With just over a month until the long-awaited premiere of The Last of Us Season 2, audiences at the series’ SXSW panel were treated to a new trailer.
The trailer is pretty ominous, hinting at the many disruptions to the relative peace at the Jackson compound that are to come in Season 2. Set five years after the events of the first season, Joel and Ellie have been spending most of their time in Jackson, finally finding a sense of normalcy in a world that is anything but.
However, it’s clear from the first moments of the trailer that sense of peace will not last much longer as many forces, from the infected to militant groups, threaten those they care about the most. The trailer is jam packed with action sequences and features the whole cast of new characters, including Young Mazino as Jesse and Kaitlyn Dever as Abby.

The new batch of episodes are scheduled to begin airing on April 13th – and ahead of that date, Variety has revealed the names of six new additions to the cast, including the great Joe Pantoliano (The Matrix). Guess who's joining the cast of "The Last of Us" season 2? Good old Joey Pants, or, more formally, Joe Pantoliano.
In an interview with Variety, showrunners Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann exclusively revealed that Pantoliano is joining the cast of the massively successful show's sophomore season as Eugene, a character that's only briefly seen in the video game.
Apparently, it was Mazin's idea to make Eugene into a fully fleshed-out character, and Druckmann readily agreed. "I get excited when I see these opportunities," he told the outlet. "I'm like, 'Oh, I don't know Eugene that well!' The story we told [in the game] was somewhat superficial. The way this character comes in really gets to the heart of Joel [Pedro Pascal] and Ellie and their relationship."

“The Last of Us” Season 2 premieres on Max on April 13, 2025.

Tom Holland has proven his acting skills in the action genre with his take on the beloved comic book character Peter Parker/ Spider-Man, but that wasn't his only hit film. In 2022, he joined forces with Mark Wahlberg for an adaptation of the video game franchise Uncharted.
