Madeleine Stowe and Emily VanCamp in Revenge (2011)
Revenge Reboot, Thirtysomething Sequel Both Dead at ABC
Madeleine Stowe and Emily VanCamp in Revenge (2011)
ABC is making some big decisions about the future of some of its pilots.

The network has passed on the Revenge reboot, Thirtysomething sequel, The Brides, and Valley Trash.

Ahead of the Covid-19 pandemic forcing production to halt on all scripted series in the U.S., the Thirtysomething(else) was considered a shoo-in on the network's 2020-21 schedule.

The potential series first entered development earlier this year, with ABC later ordering a pilot presentation.

Here's the official logline:

Apparently, raising children -- even grown children -- never ends, but who could have known how hard it would be for them to raise their parents?

Reboot of the 1987-91 series 'Thirtysomething,' with emphasis on the original cast's children -- the new generation of thirtysomethings.

Returning original cast members include Ken Olin (Michael Steadman), Mel Harris (Hope Murdoch), Timothy Busfield (Elliot Weston), and Patty Wettig (Nancy Weston).

thirtysomething Sequel, Brides Among Pilots Not Moving Forward at ABC
Image
A trio of ABC pilots received bad news on Monday: thirtysomething(else), Brides and Valley Trash will not be moving forward at the network, TVLine has learned.

thirtysomething(else) would have served as a sequel to the Alphabet Net’s 1987 drama thirtysomething, with original series creators Marshall Herskovitz and Ed Zwick back to write and direct. With a cast that included Supergirl alumni Chris Wood and Odette Annable, Outcast‘s Patrick Fugit and This Is Us‘ Auden Thornton — as well as several stars of the original show — the potential series planned to follow adult versions of the thirtysomething children.

Brides of Dracula Series Adds Erin Richards
Anthony Hopkins, Gary Oldman, Keanu Reeves, Winona Ryder, Monica Bellucci, Sadie Frost, Michaela Bercu, and Florina Kendrick in Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992)
The weird sisters of Bram Stoker’s Dracula are doing it for themselves. Greg Berlanti and Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, who brought the devil out of Riverdale to spawn Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, are shooting pilot for The Brides for ABC.

The project goes back to 2015, when NBC put in an order for a script. For ABC’s desanguinated re-incarnation, the script will be written by Aguirre-Sacasa, who will executive produce alongside Berlanti and his head of production company, Sarah Schechter. This new series promises to move “stronger into horror and sexuality as it reimagines the classic vampire characters.” The pilot will be directed by Maggie Kiley. ABC Studios and Warner Bros. Television will coproduce the series.

The project was announced back in January. The Brides is technically ABC’s first pilot order of the 2020-21 broadcast season. It is the first shot across the bow for Karey Burke, who as ABC’s...

Katie Holmes Directs All We Had
Team Experience is at the Tribeca Film Festival. Here's Manuel on All We Had.

To say Rita Carmichael is Katie Holmes’s best role and best performance to date seems almost like a backhanded compliment. After all, Joey Potter aside, what else comes close to that description? Nevertheless, there’s no denying that Holmes has thrown herself into the role of this drunk single mother whose solution to her problems is putting “all we had” into their car and driving away, hoping the signs (on the road and, you know, of the universe) lead her to where she needs to be.

Holmes is a prickly presence on screen as Rita, finding ways of making her sunken eyes and oft-mimicked mouth quirks work to her advantage to sketch out this clearly broken woman who’s trying her darndest to offer her teenage daughter (a solid Stefania Owen in white trash Rory...
