Marika Kuzma
- Actress
I'm a multilingual actor living in Connecticut, USA. I enjoy building cultural bridges and combining art forms. Most of my career has been as a musician, and in the last ten years I've loved returning to acting.
Although I grew up in America, Ukrainian was my first language. I also speak German, French, and some Italian, Russian, and Spanish. My family was very musical. We sang together constantly, I played violin in orchestras, and I played leading roles in musical theater productions. My later life in music took me to study internationally and perform on major concert stages around the world including Carnegie Hall, Kennedy Center, Disney Hall, etc. I've collaborated with artists including Gustavo Dudamel, Mark Morris Dance Group, Kent Nagano, and others. (I've lived and traveled all over).
And then... in my 50s... I pivoted back to acting. On the theater stage, I've played leading roles at Berkeley Rep (us/perf), HB Studios and La MaMa in NYC, and other companies. Onscreen, I've played supporting roles in feature films and leading roles in student films (Tisch School in NY and Academy of Art in San Francisco). I love to play characters who build cultural bridges. Strong, smart women with lots of intuition and compassion. Character roles too.
