Mitzi Akaha is a bilingual (English/Japanese) NY-based actor who started her career on an educational sketch show for the NHK. Dubbed a rising star by Maryland Film Festival in 2024, she won Brooklyn FF's Best Actor Award for her portrayal of a 29-year-old failing to adult in Hawaii-made Chaperone (Slamdance 2024 Grand Jury Breakout Feature), and stars alongside Ellen Adair, Jeremy Holm, Dana Snyder, Tim V Murphy and Corbin Bernsen in the elevated zombie love story Herd, named one of the best genre films of the year by Yahoo Movies and Fangoria. Her films have played Sundance, Raindance, Hollyshorts, Florida, Sidewalk and Maryland Film Festivals, among others, and her television credits include Fallout, Modern Love and Archive 81. She is also a published writer, illustrator, animator and environmental activist.
