Part of the popularity of Disney's Beauty and the Beast is due to its large and vibrant cast of characters, but there was one last-minute character change that had a big impact on the movie. The original animated film of Beauty and the Beast was released in 1991 and was the fifth Disney Princess movie. It was based on the fairytale by Jeanne-Marie Leprince de Beaumont, but, like most of their adaptations, Disney made changes from the original. Their best changes were adding characters like Gaston, the main antagonist, Maurice, Belle's father, and, of course, the memorable living objects that serve in the Beast's castle.
Some of the Beast's staff members were Mrs. Potts, the head housekeeper who was transformed into a teapot by the Enchantress, and her children, who were turned into teacups, including her seven-year-old son Chip. Chip was brave and cheerful and easily the cutest character in Beauty and the Beast,...

While “Darkest Hour” and “Beauty and the Beast” are worlds apart in visual design and fashion, there’s no mistaking the meticulous period craftsmanship of the team of production designer Sarah Greenwood and costume designer Jacqueline Durran. Whether it was recreating war-torn London of 1940 with a sense of heightened reality or transforming the animated Disney fairy tale into believable fantasy, they are among the best at depicting character through environment and wardrobe. And this year they each have two chances to grab Oscar nominations after working on seven movies together.

For director Joe Wright, “Darkest Hour” was a dance of dark and light, as Winston Churchill (Oscar frontrunner Gary Oldman) comes in from out of the shadows to become prime minister of Great Britain to combat the growing threat of Hitler.

Disney's Beauty and the Beast is already one of the year's biggest hits, becoming the first $1 billion movie at the global box office. As of now, we haven't heard anything about a potential sequel, but given its enormous success, it wouldn't be surprising if a sequel eventually happens. When that day does come, it seems Dan Stevens will be ready to return as the Beast, according to comments the actor made over the weekend.
Variety caught up with Dan Stevens at the Tribecc Film Festival, where the actor debuted his new sex comedy entitled Permission. The actor was asked if he would consider returning as The Beast, and the actor replied that he's open to whatever offers may come his way regarding a return to this magical world. Here's what the actor had to say during the Tribecca Film Festival below.
"That's not a question for me. I'm not sure what turn that would take.

As expected, Disney's long-awaited live-action remake of Beauty and the Beast struck a powerful chord with moviegoers everywhere, to the tune of a record-breaking opening weekend of $174.7 million, the highest ever for the month of March, easily breaking the record set last year by Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. In almost every instance of a blockbuster success of this caliber, the movie's respective studios will often announce and/or confirm plans for a sequel on Monday, to capitalize on the momentum of their hit. That didn't happen yesterday though at Disney, with the studio's production president Sean Bailey confirming in a new interview that there will not be a sequel to Beauty and the Beast, although there may be prequels and/or spin-offs.
Deadline spoke with Sean Bailey, who told the site that the studio will explore various possibilities for prequels and spin-offs. Unfortunately, he wouldn't offer any specifics,...

Since it's Valentine's Day, Disney thought it would be the perfect time to unveil the first clip from their new live action version of the "tale as old as time," Beauty and the Beast. Luke Evans appeared on ABC's Good Morning America earlier, where he introduced a sneak peek video from this highly-anticipated romance, hitting theaters March 17. While the clip isn't terribly long, it does give us our first look at both Luke Evans' character Gaston and Josh Gad's Le Fou, and we also have videos from Luke Evans' live Twitter Q&A this morning, plus a new TV spot and a portion of Josh Groban's song "Evermore" from the film.
The clip is part of a five-minute segment that was posted on the Good Morning America YouTube, with the clip coming at the 2:43 mark. The clip in question gives fans a brief glimpse at the iconic "Gaston" song,...
