Natalie Portman's Queen Padmé Amidala played a vital role in the Star Wars prequel trilogy, but didn't live to witness the events of A New Hope and beyond after passing away while giving birth to twins Luke and Leia at the end of Revenge of the Sith.
Amidala's death is what ultimately pushed Anakin Skywalker to fully abandon the path of the Jedi and allow himself to be consumed be the Dark Side of the Force.
The Disney+ Star Wars shows have allowed us to revisit earlier timelines in the Galaxy Far, Far Away, and though we have seen both Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen reprise their respective roles as Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin/Darth Vader, Padme has yet to make an appearance. She has showed up in The Clone Wars animated series and several Star Wars novels, but we haven't seen her in live-action since Rots.

Star Wars may take place in a galaxy far, far away, but it's not afraid of running around in circles. Ahsoka, the latest live-action Disney+ series starring Rosario Dawson, has already featured a bevy of iconic faces, most notably Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker aka Darth Vader. However, series creator and showrunner Dave Filoni is not done recruiting former Star Wars actors for his flagship streaming show. While many fans never expected the prequel era to make a resurgence in the past few years, the latest development surrounding Ahsoka will shock them the most. The show is reportedly close to adding another big name to its call sheet — Natalie Portman.
According to Kristian Harloff, Portman is close to signing a deal to reprise her role as Padmé Amidala in Ahsoka Season 2. Furthermore, Harloff speculates her return will be made through the same mystical plane that brought back old characters last season,...

Despite Lucasfilm's struggle to get Star Wars feature films off the ground, the television side of things has continued to find success. For the past six years, the Disney+ streaming service has consistently produced multiple seasons of various animated and live-action television series — 2024 saw the release of both The Acolyte and Skeleton Crew, and 2023 gave us a third season of The Mandalorian and the first season of Ahsoka. And with a second season of the latter series on the way, new rumors about who might appear have begun to float around.
A new Star Wars News Net report based on reporting from Kristian Harloff suggests that one iconic Jedi is set to appear in the second season of Ahsoka. Ewan McGregor's Obi-Wan Kenobi is rumored to appear in flashbacks on the series, which will take place during the same time as the animated series The Clone Wars. Ariana Greenblatt...

The first season of "Ahsoka" marked the franchise's biggest swing yet in transforming the animated side of the property, spearheaded by George Lucas' heir apparent Dave Filoni, into the world of live-action. The fan-favorite Jedi (played by Rosario Dawson) finally received her long-awaited continuation after the events of both "Star Wars: The Clone Wars" and "Star Wars Rebels," as she teamed up once again with her old crew made up of Sabine Wren (now played by Natasha Liu Bordizzo) and Hera Syndulla (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) in order to track down the missing Ezra Bridger (Eman Esfandi). The new series left us on yet another significant cliffhanger ending at the end of its first season, as old menace Grand Admiral Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen) had his sights set on conquering the galaxy at large.

We now know who will take over for the late Ray Stevenson on Ahsoka and it’s a good choice for the part!
Ahsoka was one of the most anticipated Star Wars shows when it debuted in 2023. It focused on the long-popular character from The Clone Wars animated series, former Jedi Padawan Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson), as she handles life in the post-Empire galaxy.
The series was a live-action sequel to the beloved Rebels animated series, with Ahsoka reuniting with old pals Sabine Wren (Natasha Liu Bordizzo) and Hera Syndulla (Mary Elizabeth Winstead). This involved a search for former would-be Jedi Ezra Bridger (Eman Esfandi).
The biggest part of the show was that it finally brought into live-action one of the greatest villains of the Star Wars universe, Grand Admiral Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen). He was aided by the Nightsisters alongside Baylan Skoll and his apprentice Shin Hati (Ivanna Sakhno).

Ahsoka Season 2 Will See Game Of Thrones' Rory McCann Replace The Late Ray Stevenson As Baylan Skoll
Star Wars fans had wondered if we might see Baylan Skoll in the galaxy far, far away again despite actor Ray Stevenson's passing, and we now have confirmation that the character will return for the upcoming second season of Ahsoka.
First reported by Jeff Sneider and later confirmed by THR, Scottish actor Rory McCann, best known for playing The Hound on HBO’s Game of Thrones, is set to take over as Skoll in season 2 of the Disney+ Star Wars series.
Stevenson, who sadly died back in May of 2023 just before his 58th birthday, played the villainous(?) former Jedi in the series, and the finale featured his last scene as the character, as we see the powerful Force-wielder standing on the ruins of a mountain-sized sculpture of the Mortis gods.

The death of Ray Stevenson in 2023 created one of those terrible dilemmas for Star Wars series Ahsoka, as the actor’s powerful performance as Baylan Skoll was one that became a huge part of the Disney+ series’ success. There seemed to be no question that the character would need to be recast, and finally the answer about who will be stepping into those mighty shoes has been revealed. As per The Hollywood Reporter, who confirmed a slightly earlier rumor by journalist Jeff Sneider, Game of Thrones star Rory McCann will be swapping the sword of The Hound for the lightsaber of Skoll.
Information about Season 2 of Ahsoka has been very slow in coming from Disney and Lucasfilm. With several other Star Wars shows failing to be granted a second season, the time between the 2023 release of Season 1 and lack of movement on Season 2 made many fans wonder if it could be next for the chop.

According to Jeff Sneider, Rory McCann (Game of Thrones) will take on the role of Baylan Skoll in the second season of Ahsoka. The role was previously played by Ray Stevenson (Rome), who sadly died at the age of 58 before the series was released.
I’ve always been a big fan of Stevenson, but his performance in Ahsoka was on another level. He made Baylan Skoll into one of the most intriguing new Star Wars characters of the modern era. A former Jedi who survived Order 66, Skoll became a Dark Jedi mercenary who even took his own apprentice (Shin Hati). Although he was working with Morgan Elsbeth and Grand Admiral Thrawn, he clearly had his own agenda. The last we saw of him, he was on top of a massive statue of the Mortis gods, which were pointing the way to some unknown power.

Star Wars has been absent from the big screen for more than five years now, but that hasn’t stopped Lucasfilm from pumping out content on Disney+, some of which has been received better than others. One of the more beloved shows to come from the Star Wars Disney+ era is Ahsoka, which brought so many fan-favorite characters from Star Wars: Rebels into live-action for the first time, like Ezra Bridger (Eman Esfandi), Hera Syndulla (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), and not least of all, Sabine Wren (Natasha Liu Bordizzo). Hot Toys has celebrated Sabine’s live-action debut in Ahsoka by dropping a new figure based on Bordizzo’s appearance in the show, even including a green lightsaber to go along with the late-season reveal that she is indeed Force-sensitive.

During his recent guest appearance on Katee Sackhoff's The Sackhoff Show podcast, Esfandi revealed he didn't even know who Ezra was at first -- until he saw a photo of what an older version of the character might look like online.
Sometimes, we forget that celebrities also often find themselves scrolling mindlessly through social media. That's how the actor first discovered Ezra, or as the internet likes to call him, "Space Aladdin."

Star Wars star Eman Esfandi reveals the extraordinary tale of how he learned of and ultimately secured the role of an older Ezra Bridger for the Ahsoka Disney+ series. Ezra Bridgers second lightsaber in Star Wars Rebels was significantly different from his first, as it changed from unique to more traditional. One of the so-called "Children of the Force" born during the Dark Times of the Empire's reign, Ezra Bridger was trained as a Padawan by Kanan Jarrus. He eventually became a gifted Jedi, his distinctive Force powers growing over time.
Ezra's first lightsaber broke Jedi tradition, because it combined a lightsaber with a blaster - a utilitarian hilt that contained a firing mechanism allowing him to shoot stunt blasts at his enemies. Ezras second lightsaber had a much more familiar shape, with a black grip and silver accents. Lightsabers are a key part of a Jedis identity, and this was no different for Ezra.

If you thought Din Djarin removing his helmet would become a regular thing, or at least something he admits isn't an unforgivable sin, The Mandalorian Season 3 probably proved you wrong. Many are now left wondering if the helmet dilemma is resolved for good after Din bathed in the living waters on Mandalore.
Season 3 saw Din reverting to his strict adherence to the Mandalorian creed, including the part about never removing his helmet. Still, we can't completely rule out the possibility that he'll go through something that forces him to remove it. The question is, what will it take? The truth is Din Djarin needs to go through an experience akin to Ahsoka episode 5, "Shadow Warrior," which changed Ahsoka Tano's outlook, including her outward appearance.

At D23 2024 in August, Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni confirmed that filming on The Mandalorian and Grogu is underway. However, information regarding the movie's plot remains scarce, forcing fans to speculate on what the movie will be about and who might show up.

Star Wars television shows seem to be winding down, as only three upcoming Star Wars shows are on the horizon: Skeleton Crew, Andor season 2, and Ahsoka season 2. Instead, the franchise seems to be returning its focus to movies, such as the upcoming film The Mandalorian & Grogu. Though Star Wars seems to be slowing down on TV shows, the franchise may have recently introduced something that would open the door to a new series.
The Star Wars timeline can often be a bit confusing, mainly because it's so often the subject of major retcons and changes. One of the most often changed parts of the timeline is the Great Purge of Mandalore, introduced in The Mandalorian. Now, Star Wars Outlaws has changed the date of the Purge yet again, setting it...

Even in the established Star Wars canon, one can argue that there are two different versions of Grand Admiral Thrawn in the Star Wars galaxy. Created by author Timothy Zahn, Thrawn was a major villain in the wake of Return of the Jedi, as seen in books that are now considered to be non-canon Legends. However, Thrawn has since been brought to the official canon thanks to Dave Filoni's animated series Star Wars Rebels, a live-action debut in Ahsoka, as well as new canon books from Zahn. However, there are still some discrepancies between Filoni and Zahn's versions of Thrawn.
At present, Grand Admiral Thrawn is positioned to become a major threat during the New Republic Era, just like his Legends counterpart. Having returned to the known Star Wars galaxy after years in exile, many expect Thrawn to be the main villain in Filoni's upcoming movie that will reportedly...

This incredible Sabine Wren cosplay is a dead ringer for the Mandalorian Jedi Padawan of Ahsoka Tano in Star Wars. Sabine has proven to be a significant addition to Star Wars movies and TV shows. After debuting in Star Wars Rebels in animation, Sabine returned to the Star Wars screen in live-action in the Ahsoka show. Sabine's Star Wars story also isn't over yet, as she will no doubt appear in the upcoming Ahsoka season 2. In fact, the Ahsoka finale perfectly set up an epic journey for both Sabine Wren and Ahsoka Tano as they try to escape Peridea.
Now, one stunning Sabine Wren cosplay has perfectly replicated the intricate Mandalorian armor she dons in both animation and live-action. The cosplay, posted by universeofemily on Instagram, even offers a side-by-side comparison, revealing how truly impressive this armor is.

Two post-Order 66 Jedi who have yet to meet in Star Wars would form a formidable duo against a villain like Grand Admiral Thrawn. Now that Lucasfilm has started adapting animated characters into live-action in earnest, the sky is truly the limit. The Mandalorian season 3 and Ahsoka season 1 gave us the live-action versions of Star Wars Rebels Ghost crew, and they, including the once-lost Ezra Bridger, are now an integral part of Star Wars New Republic storytelling. Ezras transition to live-action, in particular, was an incredible feat. Eman Esfandi embodies Ezra to a T.
Ezra Bridger wasnt the only young, stubborn, kindhearted Jedi making the Empires life harder during Palpatines reign, however. Cal Kestis (Cameron Monaghan), a Jedi whose canonical story plays out in the Star Wars Jedi games, is just as hopeful and creative as Ezra, using his powers to try and help the galaxy one planet at a time.

A star-studded cast brings iconic Star Wars characters to live-action for the first time in Ahsoka. The series follows Ahsoka as she searches for Grand Admiral Thrawn amidst Imperial Remnants. Ahsoka features beloved characters from Star Wars Rebels in a new live-action setting, continuing their stories.
The Ahsoka Disney+ TV show features an all-star cast bringing some classic Star Wars characters to live-action for the first time. The latest Star Wars TV series set during The Mandalorian era, Ahsoka tells the ongoing story of Anakin Skywalker's Padawan several years after the fall of the Empire. “She was always really good about bringing together people who shared her same passions,” says Elissa Alcala of the late “Ahsoka” costume designer Shawna Trpcic who passed away in 2023. Thrawn's complex character and goals set him apart from other Star Wars villains, seeking influence rather than power. Artist Kiara's Ahsoka artwork captures anticipation for Thrawn's return, showing growth and improvement over time. Ahsoka season 2 brings excitement as we anticipate the interaction between Ahsoka and the returning Grand Admiral Thrawn.

It looks like Freddie Prinze Jr.'s time in the Star Wars galaxy is over. The voice actor for Kanan Jarrus recently offered up a pretty good reason as to why he has no interest in returning to the beloved sci-fi franchise.
During an interview with Screen Rant, Prinze explained how he believes Kanan gets diluted "a little bit" every time he gets brought back. "I feel like every time Kanan gets put out there, since the cartoon, it dilutes the character a little bit. I wasn't even crazy about doing the voiceover in the last movie, and it took a couple of phone calls to convince me to do so. I didn't think Kanan was that powerful to be a Force ghost that would communicate from the past," the actor said. "So, no, my answer is no. I wouldn't do Star Wars, and I wouldn't want to play a different character.

Star Wars fans wondered if Baylan Skoll would be recast following the death of actor Ray Stevenson, and we may now have our answer.
The season 1 finale of Ahsoka, "The Jedi, The Witch, And The Warlord," unfortunately, served as a farewell to the late Thor and Punisher: Warzone actor, who sadly passed away last May just before his 58th birthday.
Stevenson played a villainous former Jedi in the live-action Star Wars series, and the finale featured his last ever scene as the character, as we see the powerful Force-wielder standing on the ruins of a mountain-sized sculpture of the Mortis gods.
Skoll didn't have a big part to play in the events of the concluding episode, but Stevenson would undoubtedly have reprised the role at some point. Considering how important his character would appear to be to the ongoing story, there's been a lot of speculation that Baylan might be recast down the line,...

Han Solo's history is filled with hilariously nonsensical moments, from absurd bets to outlandish family lore. Chewbacca's life debt to Han was actually flipped in canon, with Chewie saving Han before swearing loyalty. Han Solo's iconic last name "Solo" was given to him by an Imperial officer due to the fact he was traveling "solo."
Though forever beloved by all, several Han Solo storylines and character elements in Star Wars are just hilariously nonsensical. As a third of the core trio of main characters in the original Star Wars trilogy, Han has one of the galaxy's most storied lives. This spans across many years, both in-universe and in real life, stretching from Star Wars Legends (previously known as the Expanded Universe) to Star Wars canon. Such a storied life would no doubt call for some moments and facts that are simply laughable.

Disney’s “Star Wars” shows have delivered plenty of Emmy nominations so far, with the likes of “The Mandalorian,” “Andor,” and “Obi-Wan Kenobi” all garnering bids at their respective Emmy ceremonies.
“Ahsoka” is looking to join these shows by securing Emmy bids of its own and lead star Rosario Dawson looks to be the show’s best chance at a nomination. “Ahsoka” is a continuation of the animated series “Rebels,” and follows Dawson as former Jedi padawan-turned-rebel Ahsoka, who is trying to unravel the mystery behind the disappearance of Ezra Bridger (Eman Esfandi). The role of Ahsoka was originated by Ashley Eckstein, who voiced her in both “The Clone Wars” and “Rebels.” Dawson then took over the role in live-action form when she appeared in one episode of season two of “The Mandalorian” as well as an episode of “The Book of Boba Fett.”

One of the most prominent was Ezra Bridger, the Jedi Padawan who had disappeared into intergalactic space and who became the subject of Ahsoka and Sabine's quest. He was played by Eman Esfandi, who's won universal praise for his portrayal of the young Jedi.

Ezra's strategic strength stems from his unique reliance on the Force, making him a brilliant tactician. His creativity, real-world experience, and connection with the Force make him unpredictable to Thrawn. Ezra's previous victory over Thrawn shows that his strategic prowess can be Thrawn's undoing once again.
Ezra Bridgers greatest yet most underrated strength could be exactly what is needed to defeat Grand Admiral Thrawn once and for all. Before his live-action introduction in Ahsoka, Ezra Bridger was one of Star Wars Rebels greatest heroes. A young Force-sensitive person discovered after the fall of the Jedi Order, Ezra learned how to wield the Force with his Master, Kanan Jarrus, during a turbulent time in the galaxy. Not only did Ezras role as a Rebel operative and Jedi force him to learn how to fight and protect those he cared about, but it also forced him to learn to think on his feet and plan ahead.

Star Wars: Ahsoka star Eman Esfandi discusses what he wanted to get right about portraying Ezra Bridger. He also touches on what he missed going into the role.
Per Collider, Esfandi opened up about his role on Star Wars: Ahsoka during the "All About Ahsoka" panel at the recent Calgary Expo 2024. While Esfandi stated that he had a relatively easy time getting into Ezra's character, he admitted that he had concerns about living up to the level of physicality displayed on Star Wars: Rebels. "I was mostly focused on getting martial arts into my body. I have never had any experience in that," Esfandi stated. "So that was the only thing I ad nauseam practiced. Ezra is a beast. He's really nimble in Rebels, and I needed to catch up to him in that sense."

Diana Lee Inosanto has again paid tribute to her Ahsoka co-star, Ray Stevenson, stating that working with the actor "was an absolute honor." Stevenson, who passed away last year, played Baylan Skoll on the Disney+ show, with his performance widely praised by critics and fans.
Per Collider, Inosanto, and Eman Esfandi were at 2024's Calgary Expo to discuss the Ahsoka series on the "All About Ahsoka" panel. Inosanto shared personal memories and insights into Stevenson's impact on the series. "Working with Ray was an absolute honor because he's a veteran actor. He had me at the show Rome on HBO if anybody's watched Rome. I miss Ray all the time," she shared. "I'm so saddened that he's not here with us anymore. I'm so thankful that he at least had his moment to be with Star Wars fans in London, Star Wars Celebration, which is where we last saw him.
