Sony’s It Ends With Us adapted Colleen Hoover’s powerful story about domestic violence and a resilient woman, but drama between stars Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni behind the scenes and afterwards has lingered beyond the film’s release in theaters. Arriving to the big screen last August and later heading to streaming on Netflix in December 2024, the Justin-Baldoni-directed film drew many moviegoers, though some didn’t realize what the story was fully about.
Tensions mainly lie between the film’s costars — Lively, who portrays main character Lily Bloom, and Baldoni, who also stars as Ryle, the abusive husband of Lily, in addition to directing the film with a script from Christy Hall. During press for the film, it became clear that Baldoni and Lively were maintaining distance from each other, and even on the red carpet at the New York premiere, they didn’t take photos together.

The legal drama between It Ends With Us co-stars Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni has had a big impact on many other people, including their co-star Brandon Sklenar. The 1923 actor played Lively's character, Lily Bloom's other love interest, Atlas Corrigan.
Although Sklenar publicly voiced his support for Lively at the beginning of the legal feud, his approach has changed. While the drama gets even more complex for both parties, the 1923 star has decided to switch the narrative. During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter on the red carpet for the 2025 Vanity Fair Oscars Party, Sklenar highlighted how the legal battle is a "tough situation."

Saturday Night Live's Colin Jost Is the Latest Comedian to Joke About the Baldoni-Lively Legal Drama
Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni's It Ends With Us was a commercially successful film. However, the drama that happened after the movie headed to streaming has become one of the most popular topics of conversation.
As Lively accused Baldoni, her co-star, director, and producer of the film, of sexual harassment and a smear campaign, he denied the claims and accused the actress and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, got involved in the movie's production and tried to hijack the film and run their own smear campaign against them. Now, Saturday Night Live's Colin Jost used the most timely joke about the situation.

The New York Times is not going to take the Justin Baldoni defamation lawsuit sitting down. The paper of record is fighting the defamation lawsuit the It Ends With Us director filed against them with a legal motion of their own. It's yet another chapter in a saga that has been ongoing since late last year, when actress Blake Lively filed a lawsuit against Baldoni for his allegedly inappropriate on-set behavior.
In response to the $250 million lawsuit that Baldoni filed against the Times, the Grey Lady has struck back with a request to dismiss the lawsuit outright, claiming there is insufficient evidence that the newspaper acted with malice. All of this stems from the December 21, 2024 article titled "'We Can Bury Anyone': Inside a Hollywood Smear Machine," wherein reporters Megan Twohey, Mike McIntire, and Julie Tate laid out the details surrounding Lively's accusations. What has resulted is a public Hollywood back and forth so vitriolic,...

It Ends With Us might've been a commercially successful drama, but the real drama began months after the film's release in theaters. With several lawsuits going on with multiple plaintiffs, defendants, and other personalities involved, the case is far from over.
Earlier this month, Blake Lively made a new move to discredit Justin Baldoni's receipts and requested a lengthy subpoena to different wireless carriers for 14 people over the course of two and a half years, starting Dec. 1, 2022, which would include calls, messages, data, and location. Baldoni's lawyer slammed Lively's request for the "flagrantly overbroad" request and attempted to reason for a more specific request. Per The Hollywood Reporter, a judge made a ruling and asked Lively's team to make a more specific request.

It Ends With Us is popular author Colleen Hoover's most successful novel, and the first one in her bibliography to be adapted into a feature film. However, the ongoing legal drama between co-stars Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively made it unlikely for a sequel to happen.
Hollywood has a history of greenlighting sequels for successful films, even if the story doesn't require it. That wouldn't have been the case for It Ends With Us because Hoover published a sequel to the 2016 bestselling novel in 2022 titled It Starts With Us. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter to promote 1923 Season 2, actor Brandon Sklenar displayed his willingness to reprise his role as Atlas Corrigan if a sequel ever happened.

Blake Lively may have been the one to draw first blood with her lawsuit against Justin Baldoni, but exactly how things are going for the It Ends With Us actress isn’t all great news, according to new details concerning the pair’s social media followings. As shared by The Daily Mail, it seems that former fans of Lively have been pressing the unfollow button in large numbers, while online support for Baldoni has been on the rise.
For those who have been off-world for a while, the issues between Lively and Baldoni began when the former accused the latter of several forms of harassment while they worked together on last year’s movie release. Following legal action launched by Lively, Baldoni took little time responding with his own countersuit, which brought Lively’s husband, Ryan Reynolds, into the drama after he reportedly used Deadpool & Wolverine character Nicepool to mock the actor.

Ryan Reynolds has found himself in a bit of a pickle, but not as much as Blake Lively. The It Ends With Us controversy took an unexpected turn when Lively revealed that she had enlisted Reynolds’ (who had no official involvement in the movie) help in writing the rooftop scene.
While this initially seemed like a fun behind-the-scenes tidbit, it quickly spiraled into a bigger debate, dragging Reynolds into the mix. Since then, the couple has been facing backlash far more than just that.

The ongoing legal fight between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni doesn’t seem to be going anywhere. In the latest development between the It Ends with Usco-stars, Lively’s team is lashing out at one publication for its recent cover story on the matter.

The in-flight movie is a minor luxury given to passengers that can help idle away time, especially in a crowded plane when you're sitting in the middle of the aisle or squished beside someone else. No one ever sees their favorite movie of all time on a plane; the cinema on offer is usually meant to be inoffensive popcorn fodder for the masses to idle away the hours until they move on to better things.

Since the release of It Ends With Us, the public has shifted support from Blake Lively to Justin Baldoni. However, the actress and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, have received major support from an influential person.
It Ends With Us marks Blake Lively's most successful film as a leading lady, and it was supposed to be her biggest project yet. However, the reality was so much more different, as the Gossip Girl alum received backlash over the summer over her promotion of the film, dealing with domestic violence, with a focus on herself and her haircare line and alcohol brand. She later accused Justin Baldoni — co-star, director, and producer of the film — of sexual harassment and orchestrating a smear campaign, which led to him being dropped from his talent agency, WME. The CEO, Ari Emanuel, just opened up about his support for Lively and Reynolds, mocking Baldoni in the process on the Freakonomics podcast,...

The stars of It Ends With Usare in a bitter legal battle with Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively accusing one another of defamation. Following Baldoni sharing dozens of pages of materials related to the case on a public website, Lively's legal team has fought back in a new move to gather more evidence to support their claims.
Per TheWrap, Lively's lawyers issued subpoenas to crisis PR firm consultant Jed Wallace along with multiple wireless carriers, including AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, Cloudfare Inc., and AOL. The apparent goal is to go through all of the correspondence between the parties involved with the alleged smear campaign against Lively, suggesting there may be more than what Baldoni had made available on his website (TheLawsuitInfo.com). Baldoni's team has notably been insisting that the messages released related to the case are not "cherry-picked," claiming that these are the "receipts" that tell the complete story from start to finish.

Baldoni, who also directed the movie, which is based on the 2016 Colleen Hoover novel of the same name, was sued by Lively in December 2024.

As a judge in the ongoing legal strife between It Ends with Usco-stars Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni ruled that Baldoni’s team of attorneys could continue speaking publicly on the case, they are doing just that. Per People, in a letter arguing that Lively’s request for a gag order in the case be denied, Baldoni’s team of lawyers, led by Bryan Freedman, said the actor/director has suffered “hundreds of millions of dollars” in damages.
Although Judge Liman didn’t restrict the two sides from speaking about the case publicly, he did say he may move up the trial date if the two teams continue to battle in the press. A tentative trial date is set for March 9, 2026.

Since before Christmas, the drama from the set of It Ends With Us has intensified. The adaptation of Colleen Hoover's 2016 same-titled novel was a major success over the summer but it was also plagued by a series of backlash for the way Blake Lively promoted the film.
Dealing with domestic violence, Lively promoted the movie as a light rom-com, while also promoting her new haircare line and alcoholic brand. The public didn't appreciate this, and called her out, with the actress hitting Justin Baldoni, her co-star, director, and producer of the film with a sexual harassment complaint, claiming he orchestrated a smear campaign against her to tarnish her reputation. Several lawsuits later, People reported Lively is "surprisingly calm" amid the ongoing legal issues, and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, proved that with a selfie.

The legal battle between It Ends with Us stars Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively might be leading to a trial next year. However, Lively and husband Ryan Reynolds are looking to put a more swift end to Baldoni's lawsuit against them.
In December, Lively accused Baldoni of mistreatment while working on It Ends with Us, including allegations of sexual harassment and orchestrating a smear campaign to harm her reputation. The latter was further hinted at in a New York Times article, which resulted in Baldoni and other plaintiffs filing a lawsuit against the outlet for $250 million. Baldoni then filed a $400 million lawsuit against Lively and Reynolds, arguing that he's actually the one who's being smeared. The director also said that Lively and Reynolds used their star power to essentially take complete control of the project. Lively has also filed a lawsuit against Baldoni and others involved with the movie.

The teen sci-fi show I Am Not Okay With This, developed by Jonathan Entwistle and Christy Hall, was released on Netflix in 2020. The show found an audience and was originally renewed for a second season, but Netflix later canceled it due to the added expenses that would’ve come with filming during the Covid-19 pandemic. Although it only lasted a single seven-episode season, I Am Not Okay With This is still one of Netflix’s strongest shows thanks to the lead performance by Sophia Lillis and how brutally it captures being an awkward, closeted teen. While it would’ve been great to get a second season with these characters, the ending is climactic enough that the show works as essentially a miniseries.

Netflix has a long, storied history of canceling shows early on in their runs. The winner of the streaming wars may spend billions of dollars on original movies and TV shows, but letting any of those shows live beyond a few seasons is a rarity. 2019's young adult series "The Society" was one of those shows that was a one-and-done, with the series lasting just a single season. But that wasn't the original plan. So, why was this popular series canceled after only one season?
For those who may not be familiar, "The Society" follows a group of teenagers who are mysteriously transported to an exact replica of their wealthy New England town, only with no trace of their parents to be found. The series hailed from Chris Keyser and Marc Webb with a promising young cast led by then-up-and-comer Kathryn Newton.
Originally, Netflix had renewed "The Society" for a second season.

Each week we highlight the noteworthy titles that have recently hit streaming platforms in the United States. Check out this week’s selections below and past round-ups here.
Daaaaaalí! (Quentin Dupieux)
At the time of year where every other film is a biopic chasing prestige respectability, we are lucky to have Quentin Dupieux, the prolific, serious-minded, silly filmmaker perfectly positioned to take a sledgehammer to the genre. His second 2023 feature has been described as a “real fake biopic” of Salvador Dalí but is best understood as a return to the heightened analysis of cinematic storytelling à la 2010 breakthrough Rubber––a movie which increasingly looks like the rare weak spot in a filmography equal-parts playful and thoughtful. – Alistair R. (full review)

Additionally, Grandview’s Merideth Bajana, Jeremy Platt, and Ben Rowe will be joining the Untitled partner ranks that include Evan Hainey, Elise Konialian, Jennifer Levine, Jason Newman, recently promoted Steven Nossokoff, and Alissa Vradenburg.

Blake Lively’s It Ends With Us made headlines ahead of its release but it was not positive publicity. The drama that surrounded the film’s out-of-touch marketing, the alleged rift between the cast, and the absence of Justin Baldoni from the majority of the appearances affected the movie’s reputation.
However, another new sci-fi movie had successfully escaped a similar conundrum from repeating. According to rumors, Lively had taken over postproduction of the movie and pushed for her final cut to be released in theatre. On the contrary, Mickey 17 director Bong Joon-ho stuck to his vision, and despite several conflicting opinions, got to create his cut for the film.
