In Groupchat, "a grieving game master's new online role-playing adventure spirals into a deadly reality, trapping players in a supernatural fight for survival." From Dan Brownlie, Groupchat was shot over four days with five actors performing in real time in this story of a game that becomes all too real, and we're excited to share the trailer with Daily Dead readers, along with a look at the poster from Graham Humphreys!
Groupchat was written and directed by Dan Brownlie, who also produced the film alongside Mel Morley. The cast includes Marcel Jortzik, Amy Tara, Toby Wynn-Davies, Georgie Rodgers, James Grimm, and Debbie Rochon. You'll also see a very brief cameo from some of Daily Dead's Corpse Club podcast team. We all thought this was a really great concept and something Daily Dead readers would be into.
Synopsis: "After months of absence, Games Master Dean has come back with a brand-new online campaign.

Twice a month Joe Lipsett will dissect a new Amityville Horror film to explore how the “franchise” has evolved in increasingly ludicrous directions. This is “The Amityville IP.”
For the 25th entry of this editorial series (!), we’re looking at the lone Amityville directed solo by a woman: Rebecca Matthews’ Witches of Amityville Academy (2020). Also known as Amityville Witches or Witches of Amityville, this British production is another “Amityville in name only.” That means the characters say the word, but it has no bearing to haunted objects and/or its DeFeo predecessors. In fact, the film is closer in tone and visual aesthetic to a soap opera than the preceding 26 titles.
Screenwriter Tom Joliffe opens the film with not one, but two cold opens. The first features witches being hanged in 1602, while the second jumps ahead to the present day as white magic sisters Sam (Kira Reed Lorsch), Lucy (Donna Spangler...

Last month, we heard that the slasher Unhinged (not to be confused with the Russell Crowe thriller) was going to be getting a second remake. The film, first released in 1982, received a remake back in 2017 that was produced by Scott Jeffrey, Rebecca J. Matthews, and Louisa Warren, with Jeffrey also writing the screenplay. Jeffrey, Matthews, and Warren are also behind the new remake – and it has now been revealed that the third version of Unhinged finished filming earlier this month!
Matthew B.C. (H.P. Lovecraft’s Monster Portal) directed the new Unhinged from a screenplay by Harry Boxley (Mary Had a Little Lamb). The film follows four young women who, after a traumatic confrontation with a stalker, are forced to take refuge with an eccentric older man and his bed-bound wife; a couple who quickly showcase troubling behaviors.
Ella Starbuck (Witch), Jase Rivers (Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey), and Toby Wynn-Davies (Dogged) star.

A.A. Milne’s 1926 children’s book Winnie-the-Pooh and the characters in it lapsed into the public domain at the start of this year, a fact that has allowed director Rhys Frake-Waterfield to make the upcoming horror film Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey. That movie is set to reaches theatres (though Fathom Events in the US) on February 15th… but before that one arrives, we’ll have the chance to watch a different Frake-Waterfield project. Uncork’d Entertainment has acquired the distribution rights to the disaster movie Firenado, which Frake-Waterfield directed with Scott Jeffrey (Exorcist Vengeance), and they’re planning to give the film a digital release on January 3rd! With that date less than a week away, a trailer for Firenado has arrived online and can be seen in the embed above.

Dr. Devlin is on the verge of a breakthrough. I’m not entirely sure what his techno-babble means, even his intern Anna suggests he repeat it in English. Whatever it is it has something to do with controlling a tornado. Of course, it does just the opposite and soon the twister is not only growing at an alarming rate, it’s on fire as well.
Not everyone sees this as a bad thing, however. A gang of thieves sees it as the perfect distraction to let them rob the house of Pierce Moore. "Shut it down, Craig, it's dangerous!" Uncork'd Entertainment has debuted an official trailer for the next B-movie disaster movie disaster, this one titled Firenado that is indeed about a fire tornado. It's the latest "wildly unique new disaster movie" from filmmakers Scott Jeffrey and Rhys Frake-Waterfield, also behind the crazy slasher Winnie the Pooh: Blood & Honey. An accountant for the mob has to escape a whirlwind of fire while he is chased by violent armed robbers. "Scott and Rhys have done it again. Firenado is rip-roaring entertainment! With great effects, wonderful cinematography and some fun performances, it's a perfect fit for Uncork'd." This B-movie stars Sian Altman, Nicola Wright, Stephen Staley, Toby Wynn-Davies, Gordon Millar, Leah McInnes, Daniel Godfrey, and Charlie Boyce. In addition to just awful VFX, there's a strange masked robbers story stuffed into the plot. Yeah it looks as bad you're probably expecting. ›››

The 1982 slasher film Unhinged is set to receive a second remake from the same producer. The original film is a project that owes a great debt to 1960's Psycho, following three young women who crash their car on their way to a music festival and hole up in a creepy rural home run by a woman named Marion and her handyman Norman, one of whom may be a murderer. The film was first remade in 2017 under the auspices of producer Scott Jeffrey, setting the film in England rather than America and renaming the sinister woman Miss Perkins in another nod to Psycho.
Per Bloody Disgusting, Jeffrey - who is also behind the public domain exploiting slasher film Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey, which is coming to theaters on February 13, 2023 - is now mounting another remake of the same project. The film is going to be a modernization of the original story,...

Directed by Don Gronquist, the 1982 horror movie Unhinged is one of 72 films deemed “Video Nasties” back in the 1980s, and Bd has learned today that a new remake is in the works.
Proportion Productions and ChampDog Films are behind the Unhinged remake, with Scott Jeffrey (Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey) on board to produce the new take.
Rebecca J. Matthews and Louisa Warren are also producing the new movie.
The film is set to star Ella Starbuck (Crocodile Vengeance), Betsy-Blue English (Sky Kraken), Sian Altman (Curse of Humpty Dumpty), Toby Wynn-Davies (Area 51 Incident) and Chloe Karr.
Scott Jeffrey tells Bloody Disgusting that the Unhinged remake will be a “very close remake” to the original 1982 Video Nasty, “but sprinkling in a modern setting.”
He also teases, “It will be an incredibly suspenseful and dark film with a shocking twist.”
A director is yet to be attached. Stay tuned for more as we learn it.

The Area 51 Incident is something of a first. After films variously written, produced, directed and whatever else by Scott Jeffery, this marks his first appearance in front of the camera. He plays Trent who, along with another scientist, Jenny is getting a chance to visit the top-secret facility at Area 51. Coincidentally Trent’s father Doug happens to be in charge of the facility.
Equally coincidentally it happens to be the day that activity on the rift the facility monitors peaks and opens a portal to an alien world. That allows a bloodthirsty alien race to come pouring through and invade Earth. The three of them promptly take off in Doug’s conveniently parked Mercedes leaving the base’s peons to be eaten. They even stop at one point so Doug can get out and watch.

With a title shortened from Witches of Amityville Academy (probably so as not to give anyone the wrong impression that this is a teen movie a la Sabrina), Witches of Amityville tells the story of Jessica who, when receives an invitation to attend an exclusive academy, jumps at the chance to go to a prestigious school. However, on her first night, when she sees another newcomer murdered in front of her, she realises something is very wrong. She discovers the academy is actually a cover for a coven of witches and she has hidden powers that might just help save her life and escape their evil clutches…

The Harver family head out on an idyllic summer camping trip where they can bury past tensions and enjoy some family bonding. But when their camp is sabotaged by an unseen intruder in the night, they head to the nearby creepy old farm desperate for help, where vengeful farmer Hunt Hansen and his hideously deformed son aren’t farming animals…
Let’s get this out of the way first. Yes, Cannibal Farm is essentially, at its core, a British pastiche of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre; however the film has more than enough interesting story beats and great performances to make this film stand on its own two feet.

Tagline: "All You Can Do is Run!" Charlie Steeds' Cannibal Farm will show through Video-on-demand, in 2018. The film, which is heavily influenced by The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974), was shot in the United Kingdom. Sometimes titled Escape from Cannibal Farm, this indie horror title involves a family camping trip and a strange farm. The family is attacked, leaving them stranded in the countryside. Cannibal Farm stars: Kate Davies-Speak (Deadman Apocalypse), Barrington De La Roche, David Lenik, Rowena Bentley, Toby Wynn-Davies, and Peter Cosgrove. A preview of the film's initial launch are hosted here. The film's official VOD movie poster has also been released. Very Leatherface-esque, the graphic shows a masked man and a large chainsaw. The chainsaw is obviously excited, while the tagline states: "all you can do is run!" The film promises to chain some of the characters up. High Octane Pictures is releasing the film, in the United States.
