Julia Roberts and Challengers director Luca Guadagnino's new thriller, After the Hunt, has set a theatrical date for later this year. The film will have a limited opening on Oct. 10 before going wide a week later on Oct. 17. That puts it up against Universal and Blumhouse's The Black Phone 2 along with Good Fortune starring Keanu Reeves, Seth Rogen, and Keke Palmer.

The film's story, which was written by actress Nora Garrett, and is her first screenplay, has been kept under wraps. However, the official plot reads:

A college professor (Roberts) finds herself at a personal and professional crossroads when a star pupil (Ayo Edebiri) levels an accusation against one of her colleagues (Andrew Garfield) and a dark secret from her own past threatens to come to light.

With a solid list of films under his belt, director Luca Guadagnino’s forthcoming project, After the Hunt, is likely to be another impressive piece of work. Andrew Garfields version of the web-slinging superhero, also known as Spider-Man, can now be watched for free, with ads, via Amazon Freevee. Both 2012s Amazing Spider-Man and its 2014 sequel, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 co-star Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy and Sally Field as Aunt May. Both films were written by Marc Webb and are based on Marvel Comics' iconic superhero.

The film follows high school student Peter Parker, who gains spider-like powers after a genetically altered spider bites him. Parker also has to deal with the mysterious disappearance of his parents, who, after his fathers office was robbed, drop a young Parker off at his aunt and uncles house.

Pre-production looks to be underway on Luca Guadagnino's next movie, After the Hunt. The film stars Andrew Garfield, among others, which is noteworthy for Spider-Man fans. Not only did Garfield headline The Amazing Spider-Man 1 and 2 and reprise his role for Spider-Man: No Way Home, but Gaudagnino's last big movie, Challengers, starred Zendaya, who's perhaps best known for playing Mj in the Marvel Cinematic Universe Spider-Man movies.

News of After the Hunt gearing up for production comes by way of a photo shared by several of the cast members after what looks like a table read. Among those in the photo are Garfield, Guadagnino, Julia Roberts, Chlo Sevigny, Ayo Edebiri, Michael Stuhlbarg, Lio Mehiel, Ariyan Kassam, and Will Price.

Fresh off the success of “Challengers,” director Luca Guadagnino has wasted no time in moving forward with his next film, “After the Hunt.” The project, which boasts an impressive ensemble cast, has officially entered pre-production in London.

On Saturday, cast members Julia Roberts, Chloë Sevigny, and Ayo Edebiri shared a group photo on social media, seemingly from the first day of pre-production. Sevigny captioned her Instagram post with “#backtowork After The Hunt directed by the great Luca Guadagnino,” while also sharing dinner photos with the director.

The cast photo also included co-stars Andrew Garfield, Michael Stuhlbarg, Lio Meheil, Ariyan Kassam, and Will Price, suggesting that a table read for the film had taken place. Edebiri’s post humorously included a screenshot of Guadagnino urging her to share the photo, emphasizing “Not a story!!!”

As movie theater seats are still damp from Challengers showings, director Luca Guadagnino has already moved on to his next production.

Julia Roberts, Chloë Sevigny and Ayo Edebiri shared a cast photo on Saturday from what appeared to be the first day of pre-production on Guadagnino’s After the Hunt in London.

“#backtowork After The Hunt directed by the great Luca Guadagnino,” Sevigny captioned the photo on Instagram, also sharing photos from dinner with Guadagnino to her Instagram Story. “Like we do,” she wrote with the snaps.

“Here we go! Luca!!!!!” wrote Roberts with her own post.

Edebiri also shared the photo along with a screenshot of Guadagnino’s text urging her to post it. “Post it!! I sent it to Julia too!” he wrote to the Bear actress. “Not a story!!!”
