On April 5th, 20th Century Studios gave a theatrical release to The First Omen, which serves as a prequel to the 1976 horror classic The Omen (watch it Here) – and the movie was surprisingly well-received, with JoBlo’s own Chris Bumbray giving it an 8/10 review and Tyler Nichols writing an article about why it works so well. The movie hasn’t been burning up the box office charts; made on a budget of $30 million, it has only pulled in $36 million so far. But if a sequel were to get the greenlight, director Arkasha Stevenson knows one subject she would want to cover in the follow-up: the mystery of the jackal.
In the original The Omen, we were told that the Antichrist was born of a jackal. The First Omen digs deeper into his parentage, letting us know that it wasn’t quite as simple (although very strange) as it appeared to be in the original movie,...

Vampir is the directorial feature debut and recently released folk horror film by Branko Tomovic, who is the subject of our latest Q&a, answering questions about his inspirations, filming in Serbia, and his transformation into one of the undead!
I've read that the film is inspired by real life vampire cases in Serbia. Can you talk about the research you did into these cases and how they inspired you? What was the most surprising story or fact you encountered during your research?
Yes, Vampir was inspired by the real vampire cases that occurred in Serbia in the early 1700’s. Most people always think of Romania or Transylvania when they hear the word vampire because of Bram Stoker’s novel, but the origin was actually in Serbia, it was medically documented by Austrian doctors back then. I spent my summers as a kid in that part of rural Serbia where my family is originally from.

The Addams Family 2 Trailer: "Everyone’s favorite spooky family is back in the animated comedy sequel, The Addams Family 2. In this all new movie we find Morticia and Gomez distraught that their children are growing up, skipping family dinners, and totally consumed with “scream time.” To reclaim their bond they decide to cram Wednesday, Pugsley, Uncle Fester and the crew into their haunted camper and hit the road for one last miserable family vacation. Their adventure across America takes them out of their element and into hilarious run-ins with their iconic cousin, It, as well as many new kooky characters. What could possibly go wrong?"

By far the biggest brat to sneak his way through Eastern Bloc culture during the New Wave era, Yugoslav bomb-thrower Dušan Makavejev wasn't someone who took on his vocation with a somber air; I don't know for sure how much fun he had making movies, but he seems to have been locked into a constant euphoria of half-soused, giggling movie love. He comprised a kind of one-man Yugoslav film movement at a time when the tense Communist nation barely had a global cultural identity of its own, and his filmography reads like a litany of post-Godardian social felonies, scattered with torched taboos and sly indictments of Soviet influence.
He's most famous for "W.R. - Mysteries of the Organism" (1971), which sent him into exile, and "Sweet Movie" (1974), which was nothing if not a petulant apostate's hocked loogie of revenge. But his earlier features, though just as disrespectful and fragmented with documentary asides,...
