Do The Right Thing is a modern American classic that examines racial tension, police brutality, and gentrification. Spike Lee's film masterfully showcases the realities of systemic division in the US and offers valuable lessons transcending time. The movie's narrative captures a poignant climax, emphasizing the consequences of racial tension and the need for societal healing.
Gritty, unapologetic, and uncompromising, Spike Lee's Do The Right Thing is a gripping, emotional tale that mirrors the combative, racially divided nature of America. Released in 1989, and notoriously snubbed at that year's Oscars, Do The Right Thing provided one of cinema's most brutally honest portrayals of America's quarrelsome tendencies. Exploring topics like gentrification, police brutality, and morality, the film sheds light on the lives of the often-overlooked lower class and the tragic dynamics of racial tension that plague American communities. Upon release, many believed that the film was too coarse and would incite racial riots.

Because Netflix's Stranger Things debuted during the madness that was this year's San Diego Comic-Con, I haven't had time to catch up with the whole series yet. I just finished the fifth episode, and it's been awesome so far. The music, the characters, the atmosphere...it's excellent stuff, and if you haven't seen it yet and you're reading this site, there's a very good chance you'll enjoy it. (Read our season one review here.)
As with anything that achieves a certain level of pop culture popularity, the parody videos have started rolling in, and here's one from Tim Bennett that uses footage from the show to pretend it's a sitcom straight out of the '80s. It even has Randy Newman's "Strange Things" playing in the background as an extra bit of on-the-nose winking.

Words alone cannot fully convey the joy writing that headline has brought me. I wish I could squeeze an uncircumcised penis reference into every story. If only for the sheer absurdity of it all. Now, where were we... oh yeah! Attack of the Devil!
Written, directed, and produced by filmmaker Lon Strickland (creator of the International Shit Movie Film Festival), Attack of the Devil bills itself as "quite possibly the greatest piece of web content ever created."
What is it, you ask? Why it's just the greatest giant monster / comedy / musical / horror / sci-fi / socio-religious satire the world has ever known, and you can watch it below Right Now!
Synopsis
