Dearest reader, if you've come for your Bridgerton fix, you're absolutely in the right place. For Variety's "Making a Scene," Regé-Jean Page and Phoebe Dynevor, along with director Sheree Folkson and composer Kris Bowers, recently broke down the memorable "I burn for you" scene (as fans have lovingly referred to it) from the series' fifth episode, "The Duke and I"—and made us fall in love with the high-society match all over again. "You have no idea what lines people are going to care about," Phoebe revealed while reflecting on that epic wedding night scene. "That was surprising to me. It wasn't like I saw 'I...

Netflix’s glamorous period series “Bridgerton” dropped last month, giving romance fans a gorgeous eight-episode escape from the pandemic. And if you’ve already started to binge the series — or are starting your re-binge following Thursday’s Season 2 renewal — you probably noticed that accompanying the stunning costumes, lavish ballroom scenes and witty dialogue is a soundtrack filled with classical covers of modern songs.
It might be a little hard to put your finger on exactly what song you’re listening to, as the “Bridgerton” covers truly make these pop tracks sound like they were made for string quartets. But don’t worry, because TheWrap has the complete soundtrack listing for all the covers below.
Based on Julia Quinn’s romance novel series of the same name, “Bridgerton” follows Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor), the eldest daughter of the powerful Bridgerton family, as she makes her debut onto Regency London’s competitive marriage market.

(Warning: Major spoilers ahead for Netflix’s “Bridgerton” through the Season 1 finale.)
The Shonda Rhimes-produced “Bridgerton” adaptation hit Netflix on Christmas Day, introducing fans of the Julia Quinn novels — and a whole new audience — to the romantic tales of the titular family. And narrating all the dramatic events throughout Season 1 is Lady Whistledown (voiced by Julie Andrews), a mysterious member of London’s high society who writes a regular column detailing the most scandalous gossip from the coming-out season.
Though she plays a pivotal role in “Bridgerton,” it’s not until the final moments of the Season 1 finale that viewers find out the identity of Lady Whistledown — but boy, is it worth the wait. Of course, if you’re not able to wait until the finale to learn who she really is, TheWrap is here to give you the answer.

“All is fair in love and war.”
These are the first words heard in the official trailer for Netflix’s newest drama series, “Bridgerton,” and they certainly set the scene. They are spoken by none other than Julie Andrews, who serves as the series’ faceless narrator –- the ever-mysterious Lady Whistledown, who also writes a gossip column highlighting the scandalous lives of London’s elite.
With continued narration from Whistledown, the trailer introduces Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor), the eldest daughter of the powerful Bridgerton family, and the Duke of Hastings (Regé-Jean Page), a bachelor with a bad reputation. As Daphne attends balls and other high society events, she can’t seem to escape the Duke – or the biting criticism of Whistledown, who declares Daphne ineligible.
So, the two team up and enter a faux romance, with Daphne hoping to prove Whistledown wrong and the Duke wanting to escape the mothers...

“The social season is upon us. We shall discover which young ladies might succeed at securing a match,”
she says, adding “Let it be known, if there’s a scandal, I shall uncover it … and share every last detail.”
In addition to Andrews, the cast includes Phoebe Dynevor, Regé-Jean Page, Adjoa Andoh, Ruby Barker, Jonathan Bailey and Golda Rosheuvel.

Shonda Rhimes took her talents to Netflix when she signed a mega overall deal with the streaming service in 2018, and with the teaser for “Bridgerton” released Monday, we’ve finally got a taste of what the prolific producer has been cooking up for her first project under the pact. The best way we can describe it is if you mashed up “Downton Abbey” with Rhimes’ “Scandal” — and we have no objections to the result.
In the video, which you can view here and above, you’ll be introduced to the Regency-era high society at the center of “Bridgerton” by Lady Whistledown (voiced by Julie Andrews), a mysterious woman who is narrating this tale and writing up columns full of dirt about everyone in town. We have no idea what scandal she’s about to uncover, but we’ll be tuning in to find out when the show drops Christmas Day on Netflix.

Who is Lady Whistledown? That is the question at the center of the first teaser for Netflix’s “Bridgerton.”
In the upcoming eight-episode hourlong drama from Shondaland, Lady Whistledown is a mysterious author of a gossip newsletter that has provided much entertainment during the recent years’ social seasons. But this time around, she is naming names.
Voiced by Julie Andrews in narration of her different pages, the character clearly has eyes and ears all around, despite claiming, “You don’t know me and never shall” in the teaser, which you can watch above.
With the new social season beginning at the start of the series, Andrews continues to say that, “We shall discover which young ladies might succeed at securing a match. Let it be known, if there’s a scandal, I shall uncover it and share every last detail.”

Every series of Doctor Who has an episode that falls flat, gets little love from the Who community and is what fans would have you believe to be, in common parlance, 'a clunker'.
In the '80s, Colin Baker was dealt 'The Twin Dilemma' and Sylvester McCoy had 'Time and the Rani', while in the modern era, David Tennant fared 'Fear Her' and Matt Smith endured 'The Rings of Akhaten' (you can come out from behind the sofa now).
But, these stories do have their fans. Very vocal fans.
Last year - Peter Capaldi's first in charge of the Tardis - saw episode 10 come in for a bashing, with 'In The Forest of the Night' by award-winning writer Frank Cottrell-Boyce the perceived clunker of series eight.
At the time, Digital Spy awarded the episode a paltry 2 out of 5 - and fans displayed their collective displeasure by placing the story...

Sherlock series 4, starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman, will be themed around "consequences" says Steven Moffat...
This is a round-up of news relating to Sherlock's fourth series. (We say news. We're being a tad optimistic there.)
To read about on the one-off Victorian-set Sherlock special, due to air at an as-yet-undisclosed-date-but-probably-Christmas this year, please see here.
Latest news
This Entertainment Weekly interview with Steven Moffat provided a few characteristic teases from the Sherlock showrunner, including the promise that series four would contain answers "to questions which nobody has asked" (Sherlock's Gcse results? Mycroft's shoe size? We're just spitballing here). Moffat continued, "we're very exultant about a little thing we've set up that no one is talking about". Fingers at the ready, people, and let the chin-stroking commence...

Shadowlocked apologises for the delays in John B's output on Buffy, Angel and Doctor Who. As ever, the efficient Mr Bensalhia is miles ahead of deadline, but circumstances beyond our control have delayed the return of Buffy and Angel reviews (imminent) - and also this, the first of John's closing reviews for season 8.
In Doctor Who's philosophy corner, you can dig up some choice wise words even in the most derided of stories. Take The Horns Of Nimon. Wall to Wall to make Woman in Red for BBC2.
The scandal surrounding 18th century aristocrat Lady Seymour Worsley is to be turned into a one-off docu-drama produced by Wall to Wall for BBC2.
Woman in Red follows Sienna Miller-fronted The Girl, which explored the relationship between Alfred Hitchcock and Tippi Hedren, and was the last large scale factual drama produced by the Warner Bros-owned indie.
The screenplay, penned by David Eldridge, tells the story of Lady Seymour Worsley, who left her husband and eloped with his best friend.
Lady Worseley, played by Natalie Dormer (Game of Thrones, The Hunger Games), subsequently becomes the subject of a high-profile court case brought against her by her shamed husband, played by Cilla star Aneurin Barnard.
The 90-minute drama is based on Hallie Rubenhold’s book Lady Worsley’s Whim, originally inspired by a painting of Lady Worsley which hangs in a stately home in Yorkshire.

The directors of Doctor Who's latest series brought back the scares in a big way. Well, fear is a superpower...
Warning: contains spoilers for every episode of the eighth series of Doctor Who.
We were promised back in August that the Peter Capaldi era of Doctor Who would mark a departure from the adventurous fairy tale approach of Matt Smith's run.
“Darker” and “edgier” are buzz words that have been applied to countless Hollywood sequels, but the eighth series actually lived up to that promise and by September, the tabloid press were dispensing think-pieces about whether or not it had become too scary for children (“scary” here standing in for “complicated” in Smith's era and “heretical” when David Tennant got a lift off a couple of angel robots in Voyage Of The Damned.)
All moral panics aside, this series brought back the scares in a big, bad way.

Doctor Who, Season 8, Episode 10, “In the Forest of the Night”
Written by Frank Cottrell-Boyce
Directed by Sheree Folkson
Airs Saturdays at 9pm Et on BBC America
This week, on Doctor Who: A magical forest takes over the world, Danny is awesome, and the Doctor doesn’t believe in meds
Despite its larger arcing issues this season, Doctor Who has had a surprisingly strong year. Each episode has featured entertaining and engaging moments and a good blend of comedy and drama. Even the season’s least substantial episode (“Robot of Sherwood”) still on the whole worked. As a Whovian, this reviewer will give the series many things. The moon is really an egg? Sure. Robin Hood was an actual living person, his persona accurately captured and unchanged by centuries of storytelling? Fine. But a giant, world-wide forest appears overnight, shields the planet from a massive unpredicted solar flare, then disappears...

Doctor Who series 8 heads towards its close with In The Forest Of The Night. Here's our spoiler-filled review...
This review contains spoilers. Our spoiler-free review is here.
8.10 In The Forest Of The Night
"You need an appointment to see the Doctor"
So this one's a bit different. Coming off the back of a run of Doctor Who episodes where new monsters, big jumps and horror undertones have been regular features, In The Forest Of The Night heads off in the other direction. In doing so - and this is its gamble - it sacrifices things that generally matter to a Doctor Who episode.
Firstly, there's no strong monster, although Who has managed without those in previous stories and still come up trumps. Secondly, it doesn't have a tangible threat, that feels like something to push against. That's an obstacle that In The Forest Of The Night has more trouble with.

Spoilers: we take a look at Doctor Who series 8 episode 9, Flatline. And there's plenty to talk about...
This review contains spoilers. Our spoiler-free review is here.
8.9 Flatline
"These readings are very ish-y"
Ah, Missy, Missy, Missy. The plot thickens. With Clara and the Doctor seemingly as close to happy families as they've been all series, Missy has to go and throw another spanner in the works right at the end.
She does it with a simple line, and a giggle. "Clara, my Clara. I chose well", she says. So woah: is Clara Missy's mole? Has she been placed into the Doctor's life deliberately all along (it's been hinted that the two coming together is no coincidence in the past)? Is Clara aware that she's part of whatever Missy's plan is? Is the internet big enough to handle all the speculation?

The BBC have released the full list of titles, writers and directors for each of the upcoming series 8 episodes of Doctor Who. While the titles offer up a few hints as to what we should expect from Peter Capaldi’s debut year as The Doctor, it’s also clear that the series has a lot of impressive talent behind the camera too.
That includes Ben Wheatley, director of A Field in England, Kill List and Sightseers.
Also below are a batch of brand new stills from “Deep Breath”, featuring Capaldi (who makes his debut as the 12th Doctor here) and Jenna Coleman, reprising her role as Clara Oswald.
Matt Smith was the last actor to play The Doctor, and Peter Capaldi made a brief appearance as the twelfth incarnation of the character in the hugely popular “The Day of the Doctor” special. However, he didn’t officially take on the...

The BBC’s drip-feed of new Doctor Who information continues today, with this week’s Monday-brightening instalment being a full list of titles, writers, and directors for all twelve episodes of Series 8.
The list itself is largely the same as a list of rumoured titles that circulated online several weeks ago, with the only differences being the titles of episodes 10 and 11, and very small difference in the title of Episode 3. Which begs the question of whether or not there might have been a few last minute title changes in response to that list. Particularly since Into The Forest Of The Night (Episode 10) is a pretty unwieldy title when compared to the rumoured title Child’s Play. The list also reveals that we’ll be seeing Danny Pink earlier than expected (Well, those of us who haven’t watched Episode 2 yet) with his first appearance...

Frank Cottrell Boyce completes the line-up of writers for Doctor Who series 8...

As teased earlier in the week, novelist and screenwriter Frank Cottrell Boyce (24 Hour Party People, Millions) is indeed the writer of an episode in Doctor Who's new series.
Now the news is official, the BBC has released a smattering of details about Boyce's episode, which will feature a cast of child actors including young Harley Bird (the actress who lends her voice to CBeebies character Peppa Pig), and is to be directed by Sheree Folkson (Casanova, The Decoy Bride).
In the official press bumf about the news, Steven Moffat gave Boyce's script a raving endorsement as "pure magic - and everyting I could have hoped for from the genius behind the Olympics opening ceremony!! Doctor Who is born anew in the mind of a genius".
Boyce joins fellow series eight writers Steven Moffat, Mark Gatiss, Phil Ford,...
