Warning: Contains potential spoilers for Free Comic Book Day 2025: Amazing Spider-Man/Ultimate Universe #1!

Miles Morales originated in Marvel’s first Ultimate Universe, and the publisher is once again teasing how Brooklyn’s Spider-Man will finally factor into its newest iteration. Before a major Ultimate event promises to shake up the multiverse this summer, Marvel is circling back to the villainous Maker’s first meeting with Miles in a new preview of the Ultimate Universe’s offering for this year’s Free Comic Book Day.

Free Comic Book Day 2025: Amazing Spider-Man/Ultimate Universe #1 features a prologue to this summer’s upcoming event centered around the Ultimate Universe aka Earth-6160. Written by Deniz Camp and Cody Ziglar with art by Jonas Scharf, the new prologue recalls a scene from Ultimate Invasion, where the Maker made Miles an offer that he quickly refused.

After four years of attempted redemption, Norman Osborn returns to villainy as Green Goblin in Amazing Spider-Man #50, donning his iconic villain and setting his sights on Peter Parker once more. In the preview pages for the issue, Peter Parker is shocked by Osborn's transformation back into Green Goblin, setting up a dramatic showdown between two characters who were allies up until very recently. The return of the Green Goblin to Marvel Comics feels monumental, as the next chapter of Norman Osborn's long history of villainy is set to be written.

It has been nearly four years since Marvel Comics readers were last privy to the antics of one of Spider-Man's most dangerous villains but now, as the latest volume of Amazing Spider-Man reaches a milestone issue, Norman Osborn appears set to suit up and glide into action as the Green Goblin once more.

Marvel's Stormbreakers are releasing a set of New Year's Eve-themed variant covers featuring the X-Men and Avengers to celebrate the coming of 2024. The Stormbreakers program highlights up-and-coming artists in the comic industry, giving them the opportunity to work on Marvel projects and showcase their talent. The release schedule for the variant covers starts on December 6 and continues through December 27, featuring different Marvel titles and artwork from the current Stormbreakers artists.

Marvel's Stormbreakers are delivering New Year's Eve art featuring the X-Men and Avengers to ring in 2024. This year's class of artists showcases several heroes, including Ghost Rider and Emma Frost, among others. These are part of a new variant cover set debuting throughout December to help celebrate the coming of the new year while closing out 2023.

Jon Kent may not have as much experience with his powers as his father, but he's brought out the deadliest potential of one of Superman's most devastating abilities. Super Sons #11 showcases a certain power that could do more damage than Clark ever imagined.

Fans of the Man of Steel know that the yellow rays of the sun bring out a wide range of powers in Clark Kent thanks to his Kryptonian physiology. They may also be aware of his most iconic abilities such as his freeze breath or superstrength. But fewer may be familiar with Superman's Solar Flare power, an extension of the hero's heat vision. When pushing his powers to their limits, Clark can release all the solar energy stored up in his cells, causing a powerful explosion. Unfortunately, such a display leaves Clark virtually powerless until he absorbs more solar radiation, a process that's taken as long as 24 hours.

Popular DC and Green Lantern writer, Grant Morrison, had some choice words on the decision to kill off an alternate Earth's Flash which, by proxy, kills off a queer romance before it had time to truly blossom. The Flash that Morrison is referring to is Red Racer, the Flash on Earth-36. Created by Morrison themself with Ivan Reis, Red Racer is the fastest man on his planet and a member of the Justice 9, that universe's equivalent to the Justice League.

It's one of the oldest principles in the superhero handbook: a hero never takes a life. It's a moral stance that defines a number of heroes: Superman, Batman, the Flash.
