Announced Tuesday, the schedule for Canneseries Industry also confirms its scale, makeup and ambitions as an extension of Canneseries’ existing Writers Club, which has been running for six years, and Producers Club, launched in 2022, which serve as networking and discussion hubs rather than any attempt to create a market in Cannes to fill the breach left by the demise of MipTV.

The Producers Club will host 70-75 producers, Canneseries announced Tuesday. The Writers Club currently counts 19 international screenwriters and 22 French scribes. New Composers and Casting Clubs have been added this year while as Broadcasters Conclave will see fiction directors from European public and private broadcasters thrash out in closed-door exchange the burning challenges of today.

Abrams’ Max period crime thriller “Duster,” AMC Networks’ “The Walking Dead: Dead City,” Season 2 and Paramount+ with Showtime’s “The Agency” will bow at this year’s Canneseries whose 2025 lineup belies naysayers who argued, without a parallel MipTV and the buyers it brought to Cannes, the French TV festival would fail to draw series or celebs of weight.

The stars of J.J. Abrams’ Duster, The Walking Dead: Dead City, The Agency and Severance will be heading to France next month for Canneseries, while The Walking Dead‘s Norman Reedus has been named President of the Jury.

Duster, The Walking Dead: Dead City and The Agency are premiering out of competition at the annual confab along with the likes of Bille August’s The Count of Monte Cristo adaptation, with August and Count star Sam Claflin also making the journey to the south of France.

Duster actors including Josh Holloway, Rachel Hilson and Keith David are expected on the Croisette alongside the likes of Jeffrey Dean Morgan from The Walking Dead spin-off. Eric Rochant, who created The Bureau, which The Agency is based on, will feature in the industry section.

Jonathan Swift’s iconic story Gulliver’s Travels is being reinvented for television in a six-part series called The Gullivers, Variety reports. This fresh take is crafted by Emmy and BAFTA-winning writer Tom Bidwell, known for Watership Down. The project is a collaboration between Moonriver TV and Federation Studios, with producers Xavier Marchand, Casey Herbert, and Leo Becker leading the effort.

This upcoming fantasy adventure is being developed for a major European broadcaster. Moonriver recently produced Nautilus, inspired by Jules Verne’s Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea.

Warning: This article contains Spoilers for The Agency episode 8I have to preface this review by saying that, while I am aware that The Agency is based on a successful French TV series, Le Bureau des Légendes, I have never watched the original. As such, while some watching Michael Fassbender's new spy series could more or less know where things are headed, I'm in the dark as to what the original series showcased in its first season finale and subsequent seasons. I preferred it that way to be able to judge The Agency on its own, and episode 9 has set up a finale I can't wait for.

The renewal news comes courtesy of Deadline, with The Agency Season 2 avoiding the constant onslaught of cancellations and officially happening thanks to what the studio have called the “most-streamed new series in history.”
