Earlier this year, The Horror Collective announced that they’ll be bringing us a Christmas-set (and 80s-set) slasher called He Sees You When You’re Sleeping this holiday season – and now we know exactly when we’ll have the chance to watch the movie! He Sees You When You’re Sleeping will be receiving a digital and VOD release on November 1st, and with that date right around the corner, a trailer for the film has dropped online. You can check it out in the embed above.
Directed by Charlie Steeds, who is also producing the film with Tom Malloy under his Trick Candle Productions banner, He Sees You When You’re Sleeping has the following synopsis: A young man’s Christmas homecoming turns into a nightmare as a killer in a Santa suit gruesomely picks off his estranged, wealthy family for their fortune.

The Texas Chain Saw Massacre inspired countless rip-offs that shaped the horror genre for years to come. Some films, like The Butcher, failed to capture the essence of the original, lacking in quality and innovation. Standout movies like House of the Devil and Wrong Turn successfully paid homage to the iconic Texas Chain Saw Massacre.
The Texas Chain Saw Massacre was among the most influential horror movies ever made, and in the years since its release, there have been countless imitators and copycat movies. Director Tobe Hooper created a new type of horror as he depicted the unstoppable serial killer Leatherface, which would signal the dawn of a new era of over-the-top violence and the use of power tools as a murder weapon. While some rip-offs of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre were blatant cash grabs, others truly added to its concept and led to movies that could be enjoyed on their own merits.

Back in 1986, Caroline Williams played one of my all-time favorite horror final girls, “Stretch” in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2. She has followed that with several more horror movie appearances, taking roles in the likes of Leprechaun 3, Blind, and the recent Nicolas Cage Dracula movie Renfield, among many others. Now The Horror Collective has announced that they’ll be bringing us a Christmas-set (and 80s-set) slasher called He Sees You When You’re Sleeping this holiday season, and Williams is in the cast of that movie as well!

A full Free Movie of the Day is posted on the JoBlo Horror Movies YouTube channel every other day during the week – but on Fridays things get even freakier and a little more fun. Get your weekend started the right way by indulging in Friday Fright Nights! Every Friday, we’ll be taking a look at another genre movie you can watch in its entirety, free of charge, either on the YouTube channel linked above or in the video embed here.
The Friday Fright Night feature we have for you this week is called An English Haunting – which doesn’t leave much question as to what sort of movie this might be. Of course it’s a haunted house movie. And this isn’t always a horror sub-genre that I get much enjoyment out of, because shots of creaky doors swinging open by themselves don’t do anything for me.

Director: Charlie Steeds. Writer: Christopher Lombard. Cast: Kate Davies-Speak, Mark McKirdy, Natalie Martins, Makenna Guyler, Matt Swales and Kane Surry. Barge People is the third film from United Kingdom director Charlie Steeds (Escape from Cannibal Farm). Another Dark Temple Motion Pictures production, this feature was completed in 2018 and released later that year, in London. Finally in North America, this indie horror title delivers a decent synth' soundtrack to a boat trip, gone very wrong. Meanwhile, writer Christopher Lombard knows his horror well and brings in elements of Tobe Hooper's Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974) here, with a cannibal family stalk-and-chase. The make-up effects are spot-on, while the initial set-up is a bit slow. This viewer liked Barge People more on the second playthrough, with the film offering a bloody good time along a deadly canal. Sam Benjafield's music consistently gels well with the film. The soundtrack moves from softer melodies,...

Get ready for The Barge People, a new horror flick that is coming our way this summer. Rlje Films has revealed that the latest from director Charlie Steeds is set to arrive this August. We also have a trailer for the upcoming horror flick, which features grotesque fish people that appear as though they could have been ripped from the mind of H.P. Lovecraft.
The trailer kicks off with a group of friends getting on a barge for a weekend filled with fun. Things start out nice enough but then an ominous warning turns the tide. As one might expect, this warning is not heeded. Then the fish people come into play. It quickly turns into an action-packed, bloody mess as these friends are forced to try and fight off the creatures. There are some The Hills Have Eyes and Wrong Turn vibes, only with an aquatic twist. The trailer...

I’ve been a fan, nay Huge fan, of writer/director Charlie Steeds since I first saw his 2017 British-made pastiche of Tobe Hooper’s The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Escape From Cannibal Farm. Since then I’ve eagerly awaited each and every one of his films – though to be fair to Steeds, the releases of his film can be very haphazard. Winterskin debuted on DVD before The Barge People, which actually lensed first. Unfortunately, the UK release of the aforementioned Escape From Cannibal Farm remains in limbo thanks to 88 Films buying the rights and then deciding to focus on re-releasing cult films rather than new movies and sitting on it for 2 years (so far).
I finally got to see An English Haunting, Steeds’ take...

Charlie Steeds, director of [Escape From] Cannibal Farm, Winterskin and The Barge People is back once again for An English Haunting, an altogether different film for Steeds given his past track record.
You see those three aforementioned films are very much in a different realm than An English Haunting, they run the gamut from to exploitation to monster movie to 80s-throwback gore-fest. And whilst the previous three films homaged the kinds of movies you’d find in your local video shop back in the 80s/90s – the films of Tobe Hooper, John Carpenter etc.; An English Haunting is more in the vein of the classic M.R. James Christmas ghost stories than genre fans still rave about to this day. It also has one of the most succinct titles of recent memory!

Sisters Kat and Sophie, and their boyfriends Mark and Ben, are looking forward to a relaxing weekend cruising through the glorious British countryside canals on a luxury barge. Tension arises when businessman Ben refuses to turn off his mobile and fully enter the party spirit and stress is raised further when they damage another barge and its tenants track them down to the local pub. But nothing has prepared them for the intense midnight attack on their vessel by a family of flesh-eating fish mutants who have been lurking in the dark waters, waiting for their next meal.

I absolutely adored writer/director Charlie Steeds Cannibal Farm, a film that has seemingly been held to ransom by its UK distributors, with a release – under the title Escape From Cannibal Farm – promised for what seems like an eternity. In the meantime Steeds has filmed three more films, of which Winterskin is the last to be made and the latest to be released.
Essentially a two-character production, Winterskin takes a leaf out of Stephen King’s Misery in presenting a protagonist seemingly trapped by a cray woman, in this case in a remote cabin in the middle of snowy nowhere. Our protagonist, Billy Cavanagh, is “accidentally” gunned down in said snowy wilderness and desperate for shelter he’s taken in by kooky old lady Agnes,...
