According to Deadline, the streamer is currently in early negotiations with 3x Academy Award-winner Meryl Streep (Only Murders in the Building; Mamma Mia!; The Devil Wears Prada) to play Aslan the Great Lion, although they stress that they aren't close to making an offer just yet, although things do seem to be trending in the right direction. 

In the context of the series, Aslan was created as an allegory for Jesus by author C. S. Lewis and is the only character to appear in all seven books. In addition to the Great Lion, he is also referred to as King of Beasts, the son of the Emperor-Over-the-Sea, and the King above all High Kings in Narnia.

Per TMZ, Lee died on Wednesday, Dec. 18, with his passing confirmed by his sister, Norine Lee, and his wife, Diane. According to his loved ones, Lee's passing was attributed to complications from Als, also known as Lou Gehrig's disease. The actor was first diagnosed with a degenerative brain disease in October, though it wasn't until earlier this month when he was diagnosed with Als.

Lee's family also stated that the actor was able to return home for a little over a week after his updated diagnosis, but returned to the hospital when he had difficulties with breathing and swallowing. TMZ was the first to report the news and received confirmation of Waymond Lee’s passing via his wife, Diane Lee, and his sister, Norine Lee. The actor died Dec. 18 after a long battle with Als, otherwise known as Lou Gerigs Disease, a nervous system affliction that breaks down the nerves in the body, causing the muscles to weaken.

Lee was first diagnosed with a brain disease in October but testing earlier this month revealed it was Als.

The streamer won a bidding war by giving a straight-to-series order to Thumblite, set in the epicenter of the tech industry. The series comes from The Morning Show and Pachinko producer Media Res and creator Scott Z. Burns (The Report, Apple TV+’s Extrapolations); NYU marketing professor and podcaster Scott Galloway is an executive producer. Rosamund Pike (The Wheel of Time, Saltburn) will star and executive produce.

Netflix describes Thumblite as “a corporate thriller set in Silicon Valley, that examines the schemes, rivalries, visions and obsessions of the power brokers and their underlings as they vie for control of the most powerful industry the world has ever known.” Details on Pike’s role in the show are being kept quiet for now.

His latest film, Presence, has a unique twist to it: the story’s shot from the perspective of a supernatural entity that stalks an ordinary suburban family. Acclaimed French actress Isabelle Adjani has been given a two-year suspended prison sentence and fined €250,000 after being found guilty of aggravated tax fraud and money laundering by a Paris court on Thursday (December 14).

Isabelle Adjani received a two-year suspended prison sentence and was fined €250,000 for tax fraud in a Paris court on Thursday, Variety has confirmed.

Adjani, one of France’s most revered female actors, was found guilty of setting up her permanent residency in Portugal between 2016 and 2017 to avoid paying €236,000 in taxes, depositing €120,000 into a U.S. account without declaring it and disguising a €2 million donation into a loan, per the Afp.

Adjani, who was Oscar-nominated for “Camille Claudel” and “The Story of Adele H.,” has denied these claims and will be filing an appeal, her lawyer, Olivier Pardo, told Variety.

Back in October, the financial prosecutors had requested a suspended sentence of 18 months on top of a €250,000 fine, but the judges gave Adjani a bigger sentence.
