“Black Warrant,” the hit Netflix series currently in the platform’s India Top 10 nearly three months after its premiere, was the focus of a panel at the ongoing Cinevesture International Film Festival in Chandigarh, India.

The discussion featured creator-showrunner Vikramaditya Motwane, producer Sameer Nair of Applause Entertainment, and lead actors Zahan Kapoor and Rahul Bhat, who explored the “synergy for success” that has made the prison drama a streaming standout.

Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan, known for his role in Netflix’s Sacred Games, among others, was stabbed in a scuffle with an intruder at his home early Thursday and underwent surgery at a hospital, media reports said.

The 54-year-old actor was taken to the hospital from his home in Mumbai, the country’s financial and entertainment capital, where he lives with his movie star wife, Kareena Kapoor, and two sons.

Two of the six wounds were deep, with one near his spine, the Press Trust of India news agency cited a doctor at Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital as saying.

Indian media quoted police as saying the intruder barged into the house at about 2:30 a.m. and fled after stabbing Khan. A female employee at Khan’s home was also injured during the attack and was being treated, they said.

Police are investigating and have launched a search for the attacker.

Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan is stable in hospital after a knife attack at his home left him with multiple wounds.

The attack happened in the early hours of the morning in Mumbai, where he lives in an apartment with his wife, Bollywood star Kareena Kapoor Khan, and children. The 54-year-old reportedly sustained six knife wounds, one of which was close to his spine, and underwent emergency surgery.

Dr Nitin Dange of Lilavati Hospital told reports that the actor had “sustained a major injury to the thoracic spinal cord due to a lodged knife in the spine.”

The knife was removed and repairs were made to leaking spinal fluid. Two other “deep wounds” one on his left hand and one on his neck, were also repaired. His team have released a statement saying he is “out of danger.”

Reports say Khan had a scuffle with an unidentified man who had gained access to his home.

Paatal Lok managed to stand out, but since it was backed by an insanely talented star cast and a team of brilliant directors and writers, its success didn’t come off as a surprise. But the crime drama show that floored me was Mithya. Sure, it had stellar actors like Huma Qureshi and Parambrata Chatterjee in it and was being helmed by Rohan Sippy. However, everything depended on a newcomer, Avantika Dassani, and boy did she deliver in spades. India’s massive population and its embrace of multiple forms of video streaming are having far-reaching implications for the country’s content industries, its wider economy and the country’s position on the international stage, says an in-depth new report.

“Beyond Screens – Streaming VoD’s Impact on the Creative Economy,” was published Wednesday. It was commissioned by Prime Video India and conducted by Singapore-based Media Partners Asia.

The report paints the picture of a sector that is now attracting close to $6 billion a year of local content investment, on a par with South Korea, and demonstrates that India is a top three market in terms of net new subscriber additions and revenue growth for both Amazon and Netflix.

Pakistani star Fawad Khan and Bollywood actress Vaani Kapoor are set to star in an untitled rom-com that will shoot entirely in the UK.

The rom-com will tell the story of how two broken people come together by a stroke of luck and end up helping each other and ultimately falling in love. Filming is being lined up for fall. Shooting locations have yet to be revealed but it is expected to lens in London.
