Frankie Muniz shared on the latest episode of “I’m a Celebrity Australia” (via News.com.au) that he once “walked off” the set of his beloved Fox sitcom “Malcolm in the Middle” when everyone else was refusing to stand up to certain people who were “controlling or rude or disrespectful.” Muniz starred on the comedy as the eponymous child genius for seven seasons, but he missed two episodes because of his decision.

“There were two episodes I’m not in. Co-written by director Brian Hanson and producer Richard Handley, The Black String is one of the more interesting psychological thrillers to come out in recent years. It stars Frankie Muniz as a lonely young man whose life (and mind) completely unravels after a bizarre one night stand goes horribly wrong.

With The Black String leaving me with so many questions by the movie's end, I thought I'd speak with director Brian Hanson about the project and found out some interesting behind-the-scenes facts about the psychological thriller.

The Black String isn't quite like any other movie I've seen before. I've got to ask - where did the idea for this story come from?

Brian Hanson: We'll take that as a compliment! We wanted to be different, but understand true originality is impossible. The movie may or may not have witches, portals and a convenience store so it's like Coast to Coast with Art Bell meets Clerks.

Frankie Muniz is focused on living his life to the fullest and his memory loss isn’t going to stop him.

The Black String actor, 33, tells People that while he can’t remember certain aspects of his life as a child star on Malcolm in the Middle, he’s solely focused on what lies in the future.

“I only know what it’s like to be me. Or have my brain,” says Muniz. “So, I’m only reminded of how bad my memory is when people I see, they come to me and go, ‘Oh, you remember when we did this?...

Co-written by director Brian Hanson and producer Richard Handley, The Black String is the strangest movie you'll see all year. A psychological horror with some elements of dark comedy, the movie features Malcolm in the Middle star Frankie Muniz as a lonely young man whose life completely unravels following a bizarre one night stand. As the story unfolds, it becomes increasingly difficult to tell what's real and what's not, and The Black String will keep you guessing every minute through all the way to the end.

Best known as a former child actor from the '90s, Frankie Muniz does a fantastic job in the lead role of Jonathan, a twenty-something man living alone in a small apartment with his shift supervisor at the local convenience store as his only friend.
