The wait for the new Wes Anderson (Asteroid City) movie is almost over, and there is nothing better than a trailer to hype up fans of the filmmaker. Last week, CinemaCon attendees were treated to a first look at the highly anticipated The Phoenician Scheme, and now we can all get a sense of what the story will be like and, of course, dive again into Anderson's colorful and extremely symmetric world. The movie is set to premiere in June.

While details of The Phoenician Scheme are still kept under wraps, we do know that the movie will center on a fragile father-daughter relationship and there's quite a bit of action going on. The movie's brief official logline calls it "the story of a family and a family business." It also reveals that Benicio Del Toro (One Battle After Another) will play Zsa-zsa Korda, one of the richest men in Europe.

European film studio Hope Studios, led by Fredrik Wikström Nicastro, the veteran producer behind Sony’s hit Tom Hanks movie “A Man Called Otto,” is setting up a feature adaptation of Robin Sharma’s “The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari,” the bestselling book about a life-changing journey.

Based on Sharma’s own search for life’s true purpose, “The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari” tells the story of Julian Mantle, a lawyer forced to confront the personal crisis of his out-of-balance life after a tragedy – and his transformational journey through India. Translated into 70 languages, the book has sold over 10 million copies since being first published in 1999.

Owen Wilson is taking to the golf course for the upcoming sports comedy Stick, which has received a first-look ahead of its June 4 release on Apple TV+. The streaming service is teeing the series up for a debut that will see three episodes drop at once, followed by one new episode every Wednesday until the 10th and final episode releases on July 23.

The images (seen below) reveal Wilson's character, Pryce Cahill, "an over-the-hill, ex-pro golfer" whose career "derailed prematurely 20 years ago" (per Apple TV+). In the show, he returns to the green to mentor Santi, "a troubled 17-year-old golf phenom," played by Peter Dager. According to the show's official synopsis, Cahill's mentorship role comes at a turbulent time in his life as his marriage has broken down, and he also now finds himself unemployed after being fired from his job at an Indiana sporting goods store.

Exclusive: Micaela Wittman and Arthur De Larroche, the indie filmmaking duo behind Remy & Arletta and Clairevoyant, are reteaming on We’re Already There, a dramedy currently in production in New York City.

De Larroche is directing from his script written with Wittman, who leads the cast. Others appearing include Truman Hanks (A Man Called Otto), Jon Bass (Miracle Workers), Elsie Hewitt (Industry), Kevin William Paul (Broadway’s The Outsiders), Jonah Feingold (At Midnight), Jessica Baglow (Gentleman Jack), electronic musician Marc Rebillet (80 for Brady), Francesca Keller (Anyone Else But Me), and Morgane Bensadoun (Blue Bloods).

A dialogue-driven film in the spirit of My Dinner with Andre, We’re Already There follows a disillusioned young artist (Wittman) as she navigates a single day in New York City, grappling with career setbacks, personal revelations, and industry politics, while juggling self-doubt and ambition in the cutthroat world of entertainment.

Joaquin Acrich and Lily Drew (Mike Birbiglia’s The Old Man & the Pool) are producing alongside Manic, the production company from Wittman & Larroche launched last summer.

The Manic duo comes to the project after collaborating on Remy & Arletta and Clairevoyant, which saw Wittman star with De Larroche directing. An adaptation of the same-name bestseller, which premiered at Outfest, the former is a coming-of-age drama that follows Wittman’s Remy as she attempts to balance her relationship with her alcoholic mother and her longtime best friend, Arletta. The film came on the heels of the duo’s 2021 mockumentary Clairevoyant, which follows a spoiled 21-year-old aspiring guru as she attempts to find the meaning of life while filming her journey with a makeshift camera crew.

As an actress, Wittman was recently announced to be starring opposite Julia Fox and Ashley Moore in the sapphic romance, Perfect. She has also been seen in Netflix’s Shirley Chisholm biopic Shirley, as well as such series as The Dropout, Sharp Objects, Atypical, Teen Wolf, and Modern Family.

De Larroche has also appeared as an actor in both Remy & Arletta and Clairevoyant, among other projects. Prior to Clairevoyant, he helmed the indie features American Bistro and If God Wants.

Focused on young adult, female-led and genre agnostic films, Manic’s initial development slate also included the action horror pic Rager, high-concept YA romance I Suck, and female buddy comedy Night on the Town, as we were first to report.

Tom Hanks is speaking his mind about movie critics and how he believes one’s perceptions of a film can change over time.

The Oscar winner recently appeared on the Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend podcast, where he jokingly used the phrase “cocksuckers” to describe a film critic who initially wasn’t a fan of his 1996 feature directorial debut That Thing You Do!.

“Let me tell you something about these cocksuckers who write about movies,” Hanks said, drawing laughter from O’Brien. “Can I say that?”

Critics deep sixed the multi-generation family drama which takes place in one location throughout time at a fixed angle with 36% Rotten while audiences weren’t any better with a B- CinemaScore, 57% Rt audience score and 69% positive on PostTrak.

“Venom: The Last Dance” topped the box office again as newcomer “Here,” a fantasy drama that uses AI so Tom Hanks and Robin Wright can play younger (and older) versions of themselves, fizzled in its debut.

“Here,” which was produced and financed by Miramax and distributed by Sony, opened in fifth place with $5 million from 2,647 North American theaters. The film, which reunites the “Forrest Gump” co-stars with their director Robert Zemeckis, follows the inhabitants of a single house over the course of 100 years — allowing Hanks and Wright to portray teenagers and octogenarians across 105 minutes thanks to de-aging technology. Critics and audiences rejected the movie with a 36% on Rotten Tomatoes and “B-” grade on CinemaScore. So, word-of-mouth may not help bolster attention for “Here” in its box office run. The movie cost $45 million and needs a long life in theaters to justify that price tag.

Sony will own the first weekend of November at the box office, with the second frame of the Culver City lot’s Venom: The Last Dance down around 60%, or $20 million, for No. 1, followed by the studio’s release of Miramax’s adult drama Here.

Here, which reps the Forrest Gump reteam of filmmaker Robert Zemeckis, scribe Eric Roth and stars Tom Hanks and Robin Wright, is expected to do around $7M with an eye on hopefully pulling older adults out again this weekend after they made a date for Focus Features’ Conclave last weekend ($6.6M opening).

The streaming service just updated their monthly list of movies and television series that are debuting on the streamer throughout the month. However, along with the list of debuting shows and films, they always announce a handful that will be removed as well.

The only remaining Tom Hanks movie on Netflix will be Captain Phillips, the 2013 biopic that also stars Catherine Keener and currently sits at a 93% score from critics and an 89% rating from general audiences on the aggregate site Rotten Tomatoes.

Netflixs The Lincoln Lawyer adaptation features major book characters, and some new figures have been thrown into the mix. At the center, The Lincoln Lawyer show follows criminal defense attorney Mickey Haller Jr. who re-enters the legal profession after recovering from a substance use disorder.

White Bird has earned a solid Rotten Tomatoes score. The movie is both a sequel and prequel to 2017's Wonder, which starred Julia Roberts and was adapted from the R. J. Palacio novel of the same name and grossed $315 million against its $20 million budget. The new movie follows expelled bully Julian learning about his grandmother's (Helen Mirren) youth in France during World War II. Some of the most compelling moments in White Bird, Marc Forster’s mostly slushy adaptation of R.J. Palacio’s graphic novel of the same name, take place during flashbacks to the 1940s. These are the recollections of an aging grandmother trying to teach her grandson lessons about kindness. They’re also stories of survival, and Forster, with Dp Matthias Königswieser, films them in a way that avoids the trappings of sentimentality.

In them, the German-Swiss helmer behind Monster’s Ball, Quantum of Solace and more recently A Man Called Otto reaches for a specificity and a clear-eyed honesty that liberates parts of this young adult film from narrative contrivance. Unfortunately, too much of the rest of Mark Bomback’s screenplay tends toward saccharine manipulation.

Hang on to your hats, everyone, a new Jo Nesb adaptation is officially in the works. A new report from Deadline revealed that Nesb's hit novel, The Night House, is the latest in a long line to receive a film adaptation, which is currently eyeing a production start next spring. Nesb will team up with Frederik Wikstrm, who recently received a producing credit for working with Tom Hanks on A Man Called Otto, to adapt the film. The Night House is a horror story set in a small town in America in the mid-1980s (need we say more?) that follows Richard, a recently orphaned boy who is sent to live with his relatives in the remote town of Ballantyne. Everything changes for Richard when, one day, he witnesses one of his classmates get sucked through the phone receiver after participating in a prank call.

Exclusive: Scandi crime master Jo Nesbø is adapting his recent novel The Night House, a Stephen King-esque tale set in small town America in the mid-eighties, into a horror movie to film next spring.

The project combines Nesbø with veteran producer Fredrik Wikström Nicastro (A Man Called Otto) of Hope Studios and writer and director Jesper Ganslandt, co-creator and director of hit Netflix show Snabba Cash. Ganslandt will direct, and co-script with Nesbø. Niclas Salomonsson and Nesbø are exec producers.

It's been confirmed today that Amazon's upcoming live-action Spider-Man TV series, Spider-Noir, has added eight recurring cast members.

Those are Lukas Haas, Cameron Britton, Cary Christopher, Michael Kostroff, Scott MacArthur, Joe Massingill, Whitney Rice, and Amanda Schull.

Unfortunately, specific character details are being kept under wraps so we don't currently know who any of them are playing. Nicolas Cage leads the cast, though it's thought he's playing Ben Reilly rather than Peter Parker.

Yellowstone Season 6 could continue Taylor Sheridan’s flagship series with Kelly Reilly (Beth Dutton) and Cole Hauser (Rip Wheeler) leading the charge. Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone sequel series continues to add to its cast.

The series, titled The Madison, will add Lost star Matthew Fox to the cast, joining series lead Michelle Pfeiffer and Patrick J. Adams.

Fox will play Paul, a “self-reliant bachelor who loves the outdoors.”

The Madison, from MTV Entertainment Studios, Sheridan’s 101 Studios and Bosque Ranch Productions, is “a heartfelt study of grief and human connection following a New York City family in the Madison River valley of central Montana,” with Pfeiffer also set to serve as an executive producer on the series. Adams, who starred in the USA hit Suits, will play a young investment banker named Russell McIntosh.

Elle Chapman (A Man Called Otto, Florida Wild) and Beau Garrett (Firefly Lane, The Good Doctor, Girlfriend’s Guide to Divorce) have also joined the cast.
