The wait for the new Wes Anderson (Asteroid City) movie is almost over, and there is nothing better than a trailer to hype up fans of the filmmaker. Last week, CinemaCon attendees were treated to a first look at the highly anticipated The Phoenician Scheme, and now we can all get a sense of what the story will be like and, of course, dive again into Anderson's colorful and extremely symmetric world. The movie is set to premiere in June.
While details of The Phoenician Scheme are still kept under wraps, we do know that the movie will center on a fragile father-daughter relationship and there's quite a bit of action going on. The movie's brief official logline calls it "the story of a family and a family business." It also reveals that Benicio Del Toro (One Battle After Another) will play Zsa-zsa Korda, one of the richest men in Europe.

Jacob Tremblay (Room) and Aaron Paul (“Breaking Bad”) will star in The Night House for producer Steven Schneider.

Watch the kindhearted Kathleen Kelly (Meg Ryan) fall in love with Tom Hanks' Joe Fox (F-o-x) all over again in director Nora Ephron’s You’ve Got Mail (1998). The must-see romantic comedy begins streaming Feb. 1, on Hulu, which is just in time for Valentine’s Day. The film and Kelly’s quaint bookstore, The Shop Around the Corner, which is located in New York City, are both nods to the iconic holiday classic of the same name starring Jimmy Stewart and Margaret Sullavan.
You’ve Got Mail provided a fresh take on The Shop Around the Corner (1940) by making Kathleen and Joe fall in love over a series of emails they exchanged after meeting in an online chatroom. Whereas Mr. Kralik (Stewart) and Ms. Novak (Sullavan) exchanged adoring love letters as pen pals. However, the same hook remained from the classic: Neither of the characters in either film knew their pen pal...

Exclusive: Micaela Wittman and Arthur De Larroche, the indie filmmaking duo behind Remy & Arletta and Clairevoyant, are reteaming on We’re Already There, a dramedy currently in production in New York City.
De Larroche is directing from his script written with Wittman, who leads the cast. Others appearing include Truman Hanks (A Man Called Otto), Jon Bass (Miracle Workers), Elsie Hewitt (Industry), Kevin William Paul (Broadway’s The Outsiders), Jonah Feingold (At Midnight), Jessica Baglow (Gentleman Jack), electronic musician Marc Rebillet (80 for Brady), Francesca Keller (Anyone Else But Me), and Morgane Bensadoun (Blue Bloods).
A dialogue-driven film in the spirit of My Dinner with Andre, We’re Already There follows a disillusioned young artist (Wittman) as she navigates a single day in New York City, grappling with career setbacks, personal revelations, and industry politics, while juggling self-doubt and ambition in the cutthroat world of entertainment.
Joaquin Acrich and Lily Drew (Mike Birbiglia’s The Old Man & the Pool) are producing alongside Manic, the production company from Wittman & Larroche launched last summer.
The Manic duo comes to the project after collaborating on Remy & Arletta and Clairevoyant, which saw Wittman star with De Larroche directing. An adaptation of the same-name bestseller, which premiered at Outfest, the former is a coming-of-age drama that follows Wittman’s Remy as she attempts to balance her relationship with her alcoholic mother and her longtime best friend, Arletta. The film came on the heels of the duo’s 2021 mockumentary Clairevoyant, which follows a spoiled 21-year-old aspiring guru as she attempts to find the meaning of life while filming her journey with a makeshift camera crew.
As an actress, Wittman was recently announced to be starring opposite Julia Fox and Ashley Moore in the sapphic romance, Perfect. She has also been seen in Netflix’s Shirley Chisholm biopic Shirley, as well as such series as The Dropout, Sharp Objects, Atypical, Teen Wolf, and Modern Family.
De Larroche has also appeared as an actor in both Remy & Arletta and Clairevoyant, among other projects. Prior to Clairevoyant, he helmed the indie features American Bistro and If God Wants.
Focused on young adult, female-led and genre agnostic films, Manic’s initial development slate also included the action horror pic Rager, high-concept YA romance I Suck, and female buddy comedy Night on the Town, as we were first to report.
De Larroche is repped by Stewart Talent; Hanks by CAA; Bass by Gersh, Rise Management, and Ziffren Brittenham; Hewitt by Buchwald, Brillstein Entertainment Partners, and Myman Greenspan Fox; Paul by Artists & Representatives and Lasher Group; Feingold by UTA, Untitled Entertainment, and Johnson Shapiro Slewett & Kole; Baglow by Asteria Artists; Rebillet by UTA and Crush Works; Keller by Rebel Creative Group; and Bensadoun by Carol Shaginaw Talent Agency and Brave Artists Management.

Twenty-four years ago, Tom Hanks (A Man Called Otto) became obsessed with a volleyball and so did the world. The year was 2000, and Cast Away became one of those movies that everyone talked about. If somehow you ended up not watching it, never hearing about it, or just feel like giving it a rewatch, you'll be glad to know that the survival drama is hitting Hulu on December 1.

Tom Hanks is speaking his mind about movie critics and how he believes one’s perceptions of a film can change over time.
The Oscar winner recently appeared on the Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend podcast, where he jokingly used the phrase “cocksuckers” to describe a film critic who initially wasn’t a fan of his 1996 feature directorial debut That Thing You Do!.
“Let me tell you something about these cocksuckers who write about movies,” Hanks said, drawing laughter from O’Brien. “Can I say that?”
The Here actor continued, “Somebody who wrote about [That Thing You Do! wrote] that ‘Tom Hanks has to stop hanging around on with veterans of TV because this is just like it’s shot on TV, and it’s not much of anything.’ That same person then wrote about the cult classic That Thing You Do!. Superhero movies will always be our guilty pleasure, no matter how old we get. Whether it’s Marvel or DC, we love seeing larger-than-life stories unfold on the screen. However, there is no denying that the superhero genre has its fair share of cynics who believe that we are going through superhero fatigue at the moment. Recently, Tom Hanks opened up about the genre and the so-called “fatigue” it’s supposedly experiencing.

Tom Hanks’ journey to Hollywood stardom is full of memorable moments, but one of his early, defining breakthroughs came thanks to an unexpected encounter on the beloved sitcom Happy Days. In 1982, Hanks guest-starred on the show as Dr. Dwayne Twitchell, a karate expert with a grudge against Arthur “Fonzie” Fonzarelli, portrayed by Henry Winkler. In a pivotal scene, Hanks’ character shockingly kicked Fonzie through the stained-glass window of Al’s Drive-in, a moment that Hanks later credited as instrumental in launching his career as a leading man.

In the Happy Days episode titled A Little Case of Revenge, Hanks portrayed Dr. Twitchell, a former schoolmate of Fonzie’s who had harbored resentment since grade school. Seeking revenge, Twitchell confronts Fonzie in full karate attire, and in a memorable twist, kicks the iconic character through a stained-glass window.

Robert Zemeckis has always been about a great technological or storytelling conceit in his movies whether it’s the live-action animated hybrid of the 3x Oscar winning Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, the insertion of Tom Hanks in famed historical footage in Oscar Best Picture Forrest Gump or the motion capture of The Polar Express.
However, his latest movie, the $50M Miramax financed and Sony released Here, which brings back together the Gump gang of Tom Hanks, Robin Wright and scribe Eric Roth, was a situation of technology outshining the story. Critics deep sixed the multi-generation family drama which takes place in one location throughout time at a fixed angle with 36% Rotten while audiences weren’t any better with a B- CinemaScore, 57% Rt audience score and 69% positive on PostTrak.

“Venom: The Last Dance” topped the box office again as newcomer “Here,” a fantasy drama that uses AI so Tom Hanks and Robin Wright can play younger (and older) versions of themselves, fizzled in its debut.
“Here,” which was produced and financed by Miramax and distributed by Sony, opened in fifth place with $5 million from 2,647 North American theaters. The film, which reunites the “Forrest Gump” co-stars with their director Robert Zemeckis, follows the inhabitants of a single house over the course of 100 years — allowing Hanks and Wright to portray teenagers and octogenarians across 105 minutes thanks to de-aging technology. Critics and audiences rejected the movie with a 36% on Rotten Tomatoes and “B-” grade on CinemaScore. So, word-of-mouth may not help bolster attention for “Here” in its box office run. The movie cost $45 million and needs a long life in theaters to justify that price tag.

Tom Hanks is known as Hollywood’s Dad due to his penchant for choosing good-guy roles in films. From Saving Private Ryan to Sully, the actor has rarely played characters that are grey or completely villainous. So, it was only natural that he got to play the ‘grumpiest man in the world’ in the American remake of the Swedish film A Man Called Ove.
Remade as A Man Called Otto, the film was an adaptation of Fredrik Backman’s novel and starred Hanks as the eponymous Otto. The film saw a lonely widower having to deal with a new family that moves into his neighborhood and how he connects with them. Hanks revealed why he felt that the story needed to be said for an American audience.

First Weekend Of November Belongs To Sony With ‘Venom: The Last Dance’ & ‘Here’ – Box Office Preview
Sony will own the first weekend of November at the box office, with the second frame of the Culver City lot’s Venom: The Last Dance down around 60%, or $20 million, for No. 1, followed by the studio’s release of Miramax’s adult drama Here.
Here, which reps the Forrest Gump reteam of filmmaker Robert Zemeckis, scribe Eric Roth and stars Tom Hanks and Robin Wright, is expected to do around $7M with an eye on hopefully pulling older adults out again this weekend after they made a date for Focus Features’ Conclave last weekend ($6.6M opening).
It remains to be seen whether Here slots in second place, giving Sony the frame’s 1-2 punch.
The question is whether audiences will go along with watching a generations drama story about various families on the same property/house at a skewed-degree angle. Hanks and Wright are technologically de-aged to their former 1980s/1990s selves,...

Hulu offers a wide array of films and series refreshed monthly, with over 100 new movies and TV shows coming to the platform in November. Launched in 2007, Hulu has been at the forefront of the streaming service boom since the very beginning, and it's one of the most popular services thanks to its rich catalog of new and classic movies and shows. From hosting series from networks like FX and ABC to producing original films and shows, Hulu has become an indispensable source of entertainment.
October 2024 was a busy month for the platform with the return of some popular series, including What We Do in the Shadows and Abbott Elementary. There were also plenty of horror titles for the Halloween season. Looking ahead to November 2024, Hulu is once again getting into the festive season with the addition of a variety of Christmas content, including TV movies, reality specials, and holiday movie favorites.

Tom Hanks is a two-time Oscar-winner for his roles in Philadelphia and Forrest Gump, and he's been nominated four more times dating back to 1989 and as recently as 2020. Hanks has had several movies streaming on Netflix for the last few months, most of which are unfortunately being dumped at the start of November. Netflix has officially announced that The Circle and The Terminal will leave the platform on October 31, with A Man Called Otto hanging around for a week longer, leaving on November 5 before heading to Hulu. The only remaining Tom Hanks movie on Netflix will be Captain Phillips, the 2013 biopic that also stars Catherine Keener and currently sits at a 93% score from critics and an 89% rating from general audiences on the aggregate site Rotten Tomatoes.

Some of the most compelling moments in White Bird, Marc Forster’s mostly slushy adaptation of R.J. Palacio’s graphic novel of the same name, take place during flashbacks to the 1940s. These are the recollections of an aging grandmother trying to teach her grandson lessons about kindness. They’re also stories of survival, and Forster, with Dp Matthias Königswieser, films them in a way that avoids the trappings of sentimentality.
In them, the German-Swiss helmer behind Monster’s Ball, Quantum of Solace and more recently A Man Called Otto reaches for a specificity and a clear-eyed honesty that liberates parts of this young adult film from narrative contrivance. Unfortunately, too much of the rest of Mark Bomback’s screenplay tends toward saccharine manipulation.

The 2017 coming-of-age drama Wonder was a major hit when it first released, drawing attention not only to the works of director Stephen Chbosky, but also to R.J. Palacio, who wrote the 2012 novel the film is based on. Palacio also went on to develop a graphic novel spinoff in 2019, titled White Bird: A Wonder Story. Now, a film adaptation of White Bird will be arriving in theaters. Directed by Marc Forster, the movie elevates a somewhat predictable story with strong performances and an emotionally resonant tale.

Set in wartime France, White Bird is the moving tale of Sara, a young girl hiding from Nazi occupiers, and Julian, the classmate who protects her. Adapted from R.J. Palacio’s acclaimed graphic novel, director Marc Forster crafts a story that shines light on humanity’s resilience in even our darkest of times.
Much like Palacio’s earlier work Wonder, which explored a boy learning to accept himself despite bullying, White Bird finds the power in treating others with compassion. This time the setting is German-occupied Alsace in 1942, where Jewish teenager Sara must go into hiding after Nazis raid her town. When her friend Julian offers shelter in his family’s barn, an unlikely bond forms that helps Sara and Julian endure the months-long ordeal.

Classics in Hollywood come in all shapes and sizes. Whether it is a sweet rom-com like You’ve Got Mail or a sci-fi genius like all of the older Star Wars films, the film industry is filled with projects that have stayed with fans over the years. Tom Hanks’ 1994 film Forrest Gump is one of them. You may call it an overnight success as the film was widely appreciated for more reasons than one and it did a number at the box office making a whopping $678 million.

Hang on to your hats, everyone, a new Jo Nesb adaptation is officially in the works. A new report from Deadline revealed that Nesb's hit novel, The Night House, is the latest in a long line to receive a film adaptation, which is currently eyeing a production start next spring. Nesb will team up with Frederik Wikstrm, who recently received a producing credit for working with Tom Hanks on A Man Called Otto, to adapt the film. The Night House is a horror story set in a small town in America in the mid-1980s (need we say more?) that follows Richard, a recently orphaned boy who is sent to live with his relatives in the remote town of Ballantyne. Everything changes for Richard when, one day, he witnesses one of his classmates get sucked through the phone receiver after participating in a prank call.

Giddy up! Paramount could add some coal to the Yellowstone Express furnace as talk of a sixth season comes over the ridge. Yellowstone Season 6 could continue Taylor Sheridan’s flagship series with Kelly Reilly (Beth Dutton) and Cole Hauser (Rip Wheeler) leading the charge. No concrete plans for Yellowstone Season 6 are in place. Still, Variety says the goal is to continue the story beyond the Yellowstone Season 5B finale, coming to Paramount+ on November 10.
Initially, Yellowstone’s end was in sight after Kevin Costner left the series to pursue his dream of filming his multi-part Western Horizon: An American Saga. Costner plays John Dutton for five and a half seasons of the fan-favorite show before falling out with Sheridan after Paramount decided to split the fifth season into two parts. Costner voiced interest in returning to the show to finish his character’s arc, but it was too late. Paramount rearranged schedules,...

In his storied career, Tom Hanks has proven himself to be an exceptionally endearing screen presence, generally playing warmhearted and empathetic characters with a strong moral core. He managed to make a slight detour from the norm in the 2022 comedy-drama film A Man Called Otto, based on the bestselling 2012 novel A Man Called Ove, by Fredrik Backman.
