Now, it appears that the show is heading back for some Italian location shoots, leaving the possibilities of what could happen there up to the viewers’ imaginations.

B&b is hugely popular abroad, so it comes as no surprise that they’re scouting Italian locations again. Supervising producer Casey Kasprzyk posted some intriguing photos on Instagram, teasing, “Quick trip to Italy this week to scout locations in Naples and Capri.

Two movies in, and nobody can accuse the “Simple Favor” franchise of not knowing what it wants to be.

Speaking to a SXSW audience after the world premiere of “Another Simple Favor,” Blake Lively recalled being nervous on the set of Paul Feig’s original 2018 film because she wasn’t sure if it was intended to play as a comedy or a drama. But when Feig reunited the cast of what turned out to be a very dark comedy for a direct-to-streaming sequel that takes place on the Italian island of Capri, it appeared that everyone had the same goal: turn this into the most consistently nonsensical franchise on the planet.

Emilia Pérez, the highly unconventional Spanish-language musical from the French filmmaker Jacques Audiard and the American distributor Netflix, was the toast of the Capri Hollywood International Film Festival over the Christmas/New Year break.

At the 29th edition of the Italian fest, which is held on the titular island off the coast of Naples, the festival’s jury awarded the film a field-leading six prizes: best picture, actress (Karla Sofía Gascón, who was in attendance at the fest), adapted screenplay, makeup/hairstyling and ensemble, as well as a special honor for its producers.

The other films that were awarded multiple prizes were A24’s The Brutalist, which received three, including best actor for Adrien Brody; and, with two each, Focus’ Conclave, including best supporting actress for Isabella Rossellini; Warners’ Dune: Part Two; and Universal’s Wicked.

Johnny Depp’s new film Modi: Three Days on the Wing of Madness will close out the Rome Film Festival on Saturday, Oct. 26, and the denizens of The Eternal City can’t wait for the star to arrive.

Indeed, the highlight of an otherwise unremarkable edition of the 10-day-long fest will undoubtedly be Johnny Depp’s appearance on Saturday to present the biopic Modi, which premiered at the San Sebastian Film Festival and chronicles three chaotic days in the life of Italian painter and sculptor Amedeo Modigliani.

Meanwhile, at an event that is separate from the film fest, Depp’s film will on Friday night receive the coveted Capri Cult Award.

The producer of Modi, Barry Navidi, a long-time friend of Al Pacino, will pick up the Capri prize on Friday night.

The Capri Cult Award is bestowed by the Capri Institute, the non-profit organization that organizes an annual film fest on the eponymous island.

Almost 35 years ago, production designer David Gropman worked on a Merchant Ivory World War II-era drama called “Mr. & Mrs. Bridge,” in which the opening sequence was in black and white. He still remembers watching dailies to that sequence and hearing director James Ivory exclaim, “What have I been waiting for all these years? It works so much better in black and white!”

“He was right,” Gropman said, laughing. “And I have longed to do a black-and-white film since then.” He finally got his wish with “Ripley,” Steven Zaillian’s Netflix limited series based on the Patricia Highsmith novel “The Talented Mr. Ripley” — although Gropman estimates that the eight-episode, seven-hour series was really “about five films” in scale and complexity.

Oscar winner Paolo Sorrentino ascended the red carpet here this evening for his latest Cannes competition entry, Parthenope, which was welcomed by a nine-minute standing ovation.

In Patricia Highsmith’s novel “The Talented Mr. Ripley,” Dickie Greenleaf’s father asks Tom if he’s ever read Henry James’ novel “The Ambassadors.” The reference is a sly one; James’ 1903 book is about a man sent from the Northeast to Paris to bring back a wayward son. That’s Tom’s mission, as well, though his European transformation is starkly different from James’ Lewis Lambert Strether, who ultimately returns to America wiser but sadder.

Italy’s Capri, Hollywood International Film Festival will fete Maestro co-writer/director/lead actor Bradley Cooper will its annual Visionary Award and Barbie co-writer/director Greta Gerwig with its inaugural Lina Wertmüller Award, fest director Pascal Vicedomini announced Monday.

The Italian filmmaker Micaela Ramazzotti will also receive the Wertmüller Award, which is named after the trailblazing Italian filmmaker who died in 2012, and which was created to celebrate outstanding female filmmakers.
