The Disney division has picked up the Hawaii-set crime thriller package that has Leonardo DiCaprio, Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt attached to star, and Martin Scorsese attached to direct.

Lei-ed with a script by journalist and author Nick Bilton, the fact-based untitled movie is said to be in the mold of Scorsese’s Goodfellas and The Departed and center on a mob boss vying for control of the Hawaiian islands in the 1960s and 1970s.

All the players will also be producers on the project: Scorsese is producing via his Sikelia Productions banner, Johnson via Seven Bucks Productions, DiCaprio via his Appian Way Productions, and Blunt through her Ledbury Productions company. Bilton is producing through his banner, True Story Productions, as well.

The project’s origins come from the ‘ohana-like bond between Blunt and Johnson. The concept and film idea originated from Blunt.

At this point, Chris Evans' star power is under serious threat of burning out for good. Since his alleged retirement from playing Captain America in the MCU, Evans has wasted his prime years on stuff like Red One and Ghosted and Pain Hustlers. All the films misunderstand what he's good at and leave him adrift in a sea of bland slop, forcing him to rely on his own charisma. Worse yet, he's proven that he can have taste and can choose good projects that serve him well, so there's an added element of wasted potential to make matters even more frustrating. If he wants to add some luster back to his stardom, then he needs to look to his left and learn from his Marvel co-star Sebastian Stan, who has been putting on a masterclass of extending his career.

Remember when Natasha Romanoff sacrificed herself for the Soul Stone and made entire theatres cry? It was the end of an era, especially for those who have been loving the badass Avenger since her first appearance in Iron Man 2. Even though Scarlett Johansson “returned” to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Black Widow, it was melancholic for her fans to watch knowing that the film was set before the events of Avengers: Endgame.

Steven Spielberg’s upcoming UFO drama, The Dish, has reportedly received an update on its production timeline and filming locations.

The massive team-up movie is part one of the two-part finale to the ongoing Multiverse Saga, the series of movies (and shows) that have continued the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the aftermath of 2019's "Avengers: Endgame," which closed out the Infinity Saga. Chris Evans is returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as part of the cast for “Avengers: Doomsday,” the highly anticipated sequel that will also star Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom, The Wrap has learned exclusively. Evans will be involved in some capacity, but the extent and exact nature of his role is unknown.

After sunsetting his Steve Rogers character in 2019’s “Avengers: Endgame,” Evans recently made a brief MCU return in this summer’s “Deadpool and Wolverine,” but as his character Johnny Storm from Fox’s “Fantastic Four” movies, not as Captain America.

The Russo Brothers, who directed both Evans and Downey Jr. in “Captain America: Civil War,” “Avengers: Infinity War” and “Avengers: Endgame,” are returning to direct “Avengers: Doomsday” and its direct sequel “Avengers: Secret Wars.”

“Avengers: Doomsday” is slated for release on May 1, 2026.

Evans return to the MCU has long been rumored in fanboy circles, but Marvel declined to comment.

The exec will leave at the end of the year following a transitional period. Kuykendall joined the streamer in 2021 and oversaw faith-based, young adult and holiday features.

Dwayne Johnson and Chris Evans face an unusual array of holiday challenges in the first trailer for their Christmas movie Red One.

Jake Kasdan’s action-comedy feature from Amazon MGM Studios is set for worldwide theatrical release on Nov. 15. Red One centers on North Pole head of security Callum Drift (Johnson) and naughty-lister Jack O’Malley (Evans) teaming up after the disappearance of Santa Claus, who is known as “Red One” and played by J.K. Simmons.

“Are you saying Santa Claus has been kidnapped?” Evans asks in the trailer.

Rounding out the cast are Kiernan Shipka, Lucy Liu, Mary Elizabeth Ellis and Nick Kroll, along with Bonnie Hunt as Mrs. Claus.

The film’s teaser poster was released in an Instagram post Monday and hinted at the story by showing a “Missing” poster for Santa Claus, who was last seen at the North Pole. “We need your help,” read the caption signed by Callum Drift.

But, in a landscape marked by fictional and documentary shows and movies like The Dropout, Inventing Anna, and The Tinder Swindler, Pain Hustlers deals with a topic that hits home for many Americans: the opioid epidemic that has been sweeping the country for the past three decades. With such close ties to reality, many viewers have been wondering whether the movie is also based on a true story, like many of its predecessors. The answer, however, isn’t quite as simple as one might believe.

Sony and Apple have released the first trailer for “Fly Me to the Moon,” a romantic comedy starring Scarlett Johansson and Channing Tatum, which is set to premiere on July 12. The film is set against the 1960s space race and features Johansson as a marketing exec hired by NASA to film a fake moon landing in case the real mission fails. Apple won the project in a $100 million deal following a bidding war in 2022, and the project was formerly known as “Project Artemis.”

Chris Evans was first set to play Tatum’s role, while Oscar nominee Johansson — who also produces — has been attached to the film since its inception. Jason Bateman was originally set as the film’s director but left the project due to creative differences. His exit altered the shooting schedule and meant Evans could not complete the project and Netflix’s “Pain Hustlers” at the same time.

The planned Harry Potter TV series at Warner Bros. has long been in development for the past few years and the studio has made the announcement this morning that they’re aiming for a 2026 release. The new TV series adaptation will be transforming each of J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter novels into a single season, meaning that the entire series could span seven seasons or more. David Zaslav revealed that he met with J.K. Rowling a few weeks ago in London for the high-profile project.

Netflix’s Maestro also picked up a pair of honors for best period and/or character make-up and best special make-up effects.

Warner Bros.’ Barbie also won in the feature film categories, taking the prize for best period and/or character hair styling.

Winners in the television categories include Netflix’s The Crown, HBO’s The Last of Us, Apple TV+’s The Morning Show and Netflix’s Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story. ABC’s Dancing With the Stars won three awards for best contemporary make-up, best contemporary hair styling and best period and/or character hair styling. NBC’s Saturday Night Live won two awards for best period and/or character make-up and best special make-up effects.

Ethan Coen has a new comedy in the works, alongside “Drive Away Dolls” cowriter Tricia Cooke.

Coen’s upcoming “Honey Don’t!” is cowritten by director Coen and wife, editor, and fellow “Drive Away Dolls” scribe. While the plot remains under wraps, the film was billed as being in a similar comedy style to upcoming queer road trip comedy “Drive Away Dolls.”

“Honey Don’t!” will star “Drive Away Dolls” actress Margaret Qualley, Aubrey Plaza, and Chris Evans. Deadline first reported the casting. “Honey Don’t!” is a Focus Features production, with filming to begin in late March in New Mexico.
