Exclusive: 2012 Shooting Star joins Thor Klein’s feature; Solo Productions also sign on.
Jakub Gierszal, a Berlinale Shooting Star in 2012, has been cast to play Polish mathematician Stanislaw Ulam in Thor Klein’s Adventures Of A Mathematician.
In addition, the Canadian producer of Maudie – Mary Young Leckie’s Solo Productions – has boarded the project as co-producer with German producer Lena Vurma’s Dragonfly Films and Polish producer Joanna Szymanska’s Shipsboy.
The mostly English-language project, which has secured funding from the Polish-German Film Fund, is scheduled to start shooting in early 2018. It will be Klein’s second feature following 2013 science-themed mystery thriller Lost Place.
Gierszal is also starring in Agnieszka Holland’s Berlin competition title Spoor and has credits including 2016 Sundance hits The Lure and Morris From America.

Film and TV drama co-production training programme Trans Atlantic Partners (Tap) has revelaed its 2016 line-up of 25 producers from across Europe, Canada, and the USA as well as India and South Africa.
Experts taking part in the scheme include producer René Bastian (Cold In July), Matthias Nitschke, senior vice president of business & legal affairs, Studiocanal, Germany, and producer Ilann Girard (Lebanon).
Tap provides case studies of successful trans-Atlantic projects, market intelligence, legal framework and information on sales and distribution. The programme is directed at producers at career mid-level who have produced at least one feature film or TV series.
The two training modules take place in Munich (June 24 – 29) and Halifax, Canada (September 12– 18) where Tap producers will also participate in the Atlantic Film Festival’s Strategic Partners international co-production market.

20th Century Fox’s A Good Day to Die Hard will be the studio’s fourth major release in Dolby Atmos, following Taken 2, Chasing Mavericks and Life of Pi. The film opens Feb. 14 in the U.S. The fifth installment of the Die Hard franchise will be mixed in Atmos in the Zanuck Theatre on the Fox lot.
