Without fail, every Best TV Shows Ever list will have The Sopranos, The Wire and Breaking Bad near or at the top. Unless, of course, it’s Daniel Radcliffe’s personal ranking because he has never seen a single episode of any of those iconic TV shows. For the actor, some good ol’ cartoons will do just fine.
Speaking with Comic Book Resources, Daniel Radcliffe said when it comes to his TV habits, he veers towards lighter fare and not murders, meth and McNulty. “Honestly, I watch cartoons, and I watch reality TV. I’ve never seen Breaking Bad. I’ve never watched The Sopranos or The Wire. All the sort-of, heavy hour-long stuff. Just, I can’t…”
But Daniel Radcliffe does at least have a good reason for avoiding TV dramas altogether, adding that shows like The Simpsons have a broad cultural appeal and purpose. “I think it does...

What has Daniel Radcliffe done since playing the titular character in Harry Potter? Radcliffe’s performance in the Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone established his stardom, with the film spawning one of the earliest and most successful media franchises. Despite rumors that he would leave as he explored other roles, over the next decade, he led the cast until the finale, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Parts 1 and 2. He also received numerous nominations and awards, including the 2007 National Movie Award for Best Male Performance and an Empire Award nomination for Best Actor. Outside of acting, he's also serving as executive producer on the upcoming Guillermo del Toro adaptation of Pinnocchio. All in all, the Daniel Radcliffe movies after Harry Potter make for one of the most interesting and varied portfolios of currently active actors in Hollywood.

Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe reacts to former co-star Alan Rickman's diary entries about his career. Radcliffe portrayed the titular wizard Harry Potter in all eight of the films based on the Harry Potter books by J.K. Rowling, growing up within the franchise. Rickman starred alongside him as Professor Severus Snape, who had a complicated relationship with Radcliffe's character due to his history with Harry's parents. Though Snape had an extreme disdain for Harry on-screen, Rickman and Radcliffe shared a sweet bond off-screen, with Radcliffe referring to the late actor as "one of the greatest actors I will ever work with" after Rickman's unfortunate passing.
During an appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Radcliffe was asked about Rickman's diary entries, which were published in a collection titled Madly, Deeply: The Diaries of Alan Rickman. Rickman's journal entries touch on topics such as his thoughts on certain...

There’s a long tradition in film and TV comedy of the “alt,” where writers come up with multiple jokes for the same moment in the script, wait for the actors to perform them all on camera, then decide which to keep and which ones to cut. So if, say, the characters are talking about someone’s favorite food, the writers might come up with a long list of ridiculous foods and see which one gets the best reaction. Some sitcoms employ writers whose sole job is to come up with alts.

Why Should I Watch? After “The Office” announced its impending departure from Netflix, it was only a matter of time before the streamer came up with an original series to take its place. Enter “Space Force.” Co-created by “The Office” creator Greg Daniels and “The Office” star Steve Carell, this half-hour original series is even being billed as “a new kind of workplace comedy” by Netflix, returning Carell (who also stars) to workday drudgery, albeit with far more glamour than the paper game. As four-star general Mark R. Naird, Carell’s character is tasked with building a military base of operations on the moon in order to achieve “total space dominance,” as ordered by the White House.
Bonus Reason: Lisa Kudrow. The “Comeback” and “Friends” star had nothing to do with “The Office,” but a) who cares? — it’s worth putting on a party hat...

Daniel Radcliffe began acting when he was 6 years old, playing a monkey in a school play. By the time he was 12, he was an international movie star, taking on the role of Harry Potter in a series of film adaptations of J.K. Rowling’s books. He went on to portray everything from a World War I soldier killed in battle to a talking corpse with digestive issues to a political prisoner. Just take a look at his impressive body of work.

Hamm will appear in one episode of the forthcoming third series, coming to Channel 4 this autumn.
The actor is shown up by Berry's Steven Toast in the episode, after London's worst thespian refuses to acknowledge the Hollywood star out of arrogance.
Hamm has appeared in British TV before, having guest starred in Charlie Brooker's Black Mirror last year and Sky Arts' A Young Doctor's Notebook.
Berry previously revealed that Jurassic Park actor Sam Neill will also appear in Toast of London series three.

Sky is closing one of its two Sky Arts channels in the summer.
From June 9, the two channels will become a single "super channel" in an effort to increase audiences and reduce repeats.
The new channel will also move higher up the service's Epg page.
Head of Sky Arts Phil Edgar-Jones told The Guardian: "I have argued for quite a long time we should have one Sky Arts channel, not two. I didn't see the sense when we can do one super channel effectively."
He also said that none of the current channel's programming - which includes A Young Doctor's Notebook and Playhouse Presents - will be dropped.
"That's the beauty of this, we are repeating less, structuring the week differently," Edgar-Jones said.
"Being on page three [of the Epg] we'll have more eyeballs, footfall. It is hard to predict exactly [how audiences will increase], but up to 30%."
The revamped Sky Arts will receive a budget increase...

Daniel Radcliffe has (more or less) done a good job shedding his Harry Potter image by appearing in some very dark (The Woman in Black) and very funny (A Young Doctor's Notebook) projects that take a lot of narrative and genre risks. And he looks to be continuing that trend, as seen in the first teaser for Alexandre Aja's (The Hills Have Eyes, High Tension) latest film Horns.Radcliffe plays a young man who is the main suspect in his girlfriend's murder. While protesting his innocence, he sprouts a pair of devil-like horns that cause those around him to display the most petty behaviour. Kurt Halfyard saw it at Tiff last year, and had a mixed reaction, though praised the performances. Personally, I'm always intrigued by...

A new season of Brit drama "A Young Doctor's Notebook," once pegged as a four-part miniseries for the UK's Sky 1, now offers Daniel Radcliffe an extended stay in the television realm -- and life beyond Harry Potter. More than 18 months after the airing of what is now its first season, he and Jon Hamm -- no stranger to television, needless to say -- are both returning to the role of Vladimir Bomgard, a Russian doctor who, as we see in both 1917 and the early ‘30s, is struggling with opium addiction. (Btw, so is Clive Owen's 1900 surgeon in Steven Soderbergh's upcoming "The Knick" on Cinemax.) Flashbacks divide the two roles, but Radcliffe and Hamm interact onscreen, from consoling each other to dancing with their older (or younger) self. Opium is one hell of a drug. Radcliffe offered some kind words about his collaboration with Hamm in a new story at USA Today,...

The July 2014 Television Critics Association press tour kicked off on Tuesday (July 8) morning with a panel for Nielsen Media that nobody could understand because of sawing and hammering associated with hotel construction. Pity, that. Fortunately, we had no such trouble with the day's second panel, which was for Ovation, which likes to boast that it's "America's only arts network," in large part because networks previously associated with the arts have turned their programming over to wine-swilling housewives or burger-selling Wahlbergs. Ovation began with a panel for the child prodigy reality series "Young Marvels" and performances by a pre-teen singer and a pre-teen cellist, who both were relatively well-adjusted for underaged geniuses. And speaking of underaged geniuses, we followed with Daniel Radcliffe, who recalled his first press conference experience as an actor came not for anything Harry Potter-related, but at a TCA panel for "David Copperfield" way back in the day.

Daniel Radcliffe enjoys his privacy, and to help maintain it, he keeps away from social media and movie premieres for films that aren't his own. "There's certain things you can make a lot easier on yourself," Radcliffe, 24, tells the U.K.'s Sky News. "If you don't, for instance, go to premieres that aren't [for] a film you're in, or don't just turn up at other events and stuff like that, then that's obviously gonna help to not fuel [interest]." Radcliffe adds that when celebrities regularly divulge details of their lives on Twitter, it makes their requests for privacy seem less genuine.

Backchat with Jack Whitehall and His Dad: Wednesday (November 20) at 10pm on BBC Three
It seems we can't get away from Jack Whitehall nowadays. If it's not Bad Education that's lighting up the box, it's Fresh Meat or A League of Their Own. Now he's called for reinforcements in the shape of his father as he continues his bid to take over the world.
Backchat plays on the awkwardness that arises when Jack unleashes his anarchic posh boy routine around his dry and disapproving dad Michael, while the celebrity guests (Jeremy Paxman and Danny Dyer this week!) presumably look on in bemusement.

Jon Hamm has put away the sharp suits to play a Russian medic in A Young Doctor's Notebook with Daniel Radcliffe. Here he talks about moving on from Mad Men and his alter ego Don, whose inner life draws so much on Hamm's own past …
'I think we should all," Jon Hamm suggests, "get a chance to spend a week or two back in the shoes of our 24-year-old self…" Hamm, straight-jawed star of Mad Men, is talking in his rich bass voice about the premise of A Young Doctor's Notebook, an inspired adaptation of Mikhail Bulgakov's autobiographical tales of his apprenticeship as a doctor in rural Russia in 1916. In the drama, now entering its second series on Sky Arts, Hamm plays the middle-aged writer, looking back on the bleakly comic, steppe-back-in-time world of his youth, through the person of Daniel Radcliffe. The pair – the morphine-addicted 42-year-old dissident, and...

Rush never caught fire in the way Universal hoped, but maybe audiences need a more relatable competition when it comes to a sports rivalry. They may get it from director James Watkins, who will reteam with his The Woman in Black star Daniel Radcliffe for the Olympic drama, Gold. According to BBC Films [via The Playlist], Watkins will work from a script from Simon Beaufoy (Slumdog Millionaire) and Will Davies (How to Train Your Dragon), which will focus on the rivalry between runners Sebastian Coe and Steve Ovett. Unlike the similar wealthy upbringings of the rivals from Rush, Coe and Ovett came from very different classes and upbringings, but "between them they won three Olympic gold medals, two silvers, one bronze, and broke a total of twelve middle-distance records," according to the source material, The Perfect Distance by Pat Butcher. BBC Films doesn't say which athlete Radcliffe will play or who his co-star will be,...

Daniel Radcliffe has had a busy (and focused) 2013.
He had three films premiere at the Toronto Film Festival, went on an extended press tour for his new movie, "Kill Your Darlings" (in theaters this weekend), and found time to promote "A Young Doctor's Notebook," a mini-series co-starring "Mad Men" lead Jon Hamm.
So how does the "Harry Potter" star find time for it all? Well, he is passionate about the roles he selects. Also, he stays far, far away from Candy Crush.
"Yeah it would be the end of my life," Radcliffe told Moviefone, on whether he would download the highly addictive cell phone game. "I know what I am like and I know what would happen if I had it."
Of course Radcliffe doesn't avoid all cell phone games (because that would just be crazy). Back in September, Hamm revealed that he and Radcliffe kept in touch when they...

"Kill Your Darlings," the new film about a college-aged Allen Ginsberg, doesn't feel like a movie teed-up for the gossip crowd. However, over the last few weeks, headlines touting its lead, Daniel Radcliffe, and what he does on-screen, have made "Darlings" out to be a breaking-out-of-the-child-star-chains-type drama. Here's the one and only Harry Potter in a non-Potter role, getting naked, taking drugs, and sneaking into libraries. The horror!
While it's tempting to consider Radcliffe's performance as a way to distance himself from the glory he achieved as a kid, you shouldn't mistake this role choice as a rebellious one. The 24-year-old star isn't looking to separate himself from his boy wizard years -- a time he holds with great reverence -- he's just trying to spread his wings a bit.
Radcliffe spoke to Moviefone about his interest in playing Ginsberg, the need for people to still compare his new work to the "Harry Potter" franchise,...

This ain't no "Mad Men," but Jon Hamm says perhaps "Downton Abbey" fans will appreciate the "very British," yet "strange and bizarre" world of "A Young Doctor's Notebook."
Hamm stars opposite Daniel Radcliffe in the black comedy series debuting Wednesday night (Oct. 2) on Ovation. Fans of wizardry and 1960s advertising may remember that epic moment when Harry Potter and Don Draper took a bath together in the trailer for the first season of "A Young Doctor's Notebook" before it premiered in the UK.
"The show is basically kind of a memory play of my character remembering his younger self [as Radcliffe's character]," Hamm tells Zap2it. "However, my character has a fairly serious ... morphine addiction, so the memory is not always correct. I'm kind of interceding into Dan's life -- my younger self's life -- quite a bit, including one time when he's taking a bath, I appear. It was fun. It was funny,...

What's the best way to shake off a wholesome image? Take your clothes off – as Daniel Radcliffe well knows. So why is the one-time boy wizard now saying no to nudity?
As London Fashion Week draws to a close, it seems a good time to ask what some of the finest actors are wearing this season. And the answer appears to be: nothing. From Scarlett Johansson's copious under-the-clothes scenes in Under the Skin to Jack O'Connell tackling the tackle-out, full-frontal shot with abandon in the prison drama Starred Up, the emphasis is firmly on what not to wear. One of the common factors in many acclaimed new films is a willingness to confront nakedness without the usual strategically placed prop to spare an actor's blushes. Blue Is the Warmest Colour grabbed headlines not only for scooping the Palme d'Or at Cannes this year, but for the explicit sex scenes between its stars,...

Radcliffe also reveals plans to put screen nudity on ice after a string of scantily clad roles in Horns, The F Word and Kill Your Darlings
Daniel Radcliffe will not return to the magical world of Harry Potter for Jk Rowling's forthcoming Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them film saga. And he is not up for getting naked on film any time soon, either.
Speaking at a press event for the new Sky Arts series A Young Doctor's Notebook & Other Stories, Radcliffe confirmed he and his co-stars Rupert Grint and Emma Watson would probably not be returning to Hogwarts for Beasts, which is set 70 years prior to the arrival of Harry, Ron and Hermione at the magical school.

After playing "Harry Potter" for over a decade, Daniel Radcliffe did what many young actresses tend to do, he took his clothes off, a lot. Not only was he completely nude on stage, but he recently appeared naked in "Horns," "The F Word" and "Kill Your Darlings," which all premiered at the Toronto Film Festival earlier this month. In a new interview promoting his "A Young Doctor's Notebook And Other Stories' TV series, Radcliffe revealed that from now on, he will keep his clothes on. "I think there was a discussion about possible nudity for one scene and I think my comment was, 'I got naked in three films last year, please can I not?'" he said. "At some point everyone's going to start assuming I'm an exhibitionist." Despite getting annoyed with constant requests to take his clothes off, the actor said that he's incredibly grateful for his post-"Harry Potter" career.

Radcliffe would like to keep his clothes on, thank you very much.
After starring in a string of recent films in which he doffs his duds -- "Horns," "The F Word," and "Kill Your Darlings," which all premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival -- Radcliffe is requesting that he remain robed for the time being. While filming the British television dramedy "A Young Doctor's Notebook and Other Stories," Radcliffe revealed that he had to put his foot down when directed to undress.

Daniel Radcliffe has said that he thinks Jk Rowling and Warner Bros will have "a great time" making new Harry Potter-inspired movie series Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
The movie, which will be Rowling's first screenplay, will involve magical characters and creatures, including some which have featured in Harry Potter novels in the past.
"Although it will be set in the worldwide community of witches and wizards where I was so happy for 17 years, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is neither a prequel nor a sequel to the Harry Potter series, but an extension of the wizarding world," Rowling said last week.
When asked at a Sky Drama launch today (September 17) about his first thoughts on the new movie franchise, Radcliffe joked: "I first thought, 'Thanks Jo, I'm going to have to answer tons of questions about this now'."

Network pays initial £12.5m in cash, a figure that could rise to £30m if company hits performance-related earn-out targets
The World's End and Rev producer Big Talk has been bought by ITV for an initial £12.5m in cash, a figure that could rise to £30m depending on the company hitting performance-related earn-out targets over five years.
Big Talk, which was founded in 1995, is 65% owned by Nira Park, Kenton Allen and Matthew Justice.
About 10% of the company is owned by minority shareholders including Simon Pegg and his The World's End, Hot Fuzz, Shaun of the Dead and Spaced collaborators Nick Frost and Edgar Wright.
BBC Worldwide also owns 25% of the company and stands to make between just over £3m and £7.5m on the deal. Big Talk's sale was prompted by the expiry of its five-year deal with the corporation's commercial arm, which is understood to have paid £1.6m for its stake.

In a fan fiction-worthy feat of casting (Don Draper and Harry Potter!), Jon Hamm and Daniel Radcliffe play older and younger versions of a Russian doctor in the four-part British miniseries "A Young Doctor's Notebook," which aired in the U.K. on Sky Arts in December and was the most successful program in the history of the network. Arts channel Ovation will air the period drama, which is based on a collection of stories by Mikhail Bulgakov adapted by Mark Chappell, Shaun Pye and Alan Connor, in the U.S., and today announced a date for the premiere. The first part of the miniseries will debut on Thursday, October 3 at 8pm Et, with subsequent installments airing weekly. "I'm thrilled that Ovation has picked up the rights to broadcast 'A Young Doctor's Notebook' stateside," said Hamm in the announcement. "Like our UK benefactor Sky Arts, they have proven to...

C'mon, surely. The picture above was one that passed across our retinas around about a year ago, and for many it came blissfully free of context. For those of us in the U.K., however, it was actually followed by a TV miniseries, “A Young Doctor's Notebook,” about the experiences of a country doctor in revolutionary Russia. Jon Hamm played the older version of Daniel Radcliffe's young doctor, looking back on the experiences of his callow self. The show was a hit on its original U.K. channel, Sky Arts, and has been picked up in the U.S, by Ovation, which will air it in a couple of months (though they've yet to give a precise date). It has now also, per Deadline, been picked up for a second series, which will see the snow-bound doctor's tale (adapted from stories by Mikhail Bulgakov, of “The Master and Margarita...

The first trailer for the upcoming 50th Anniversary Special aired during this year's San Diego Comic Con and sadly has yet to go online - unlike practically every other TV panel 'sneak peek' clip which screened at Comic Con this year.
For those of us who couldn't make it, The BBC has released three Dalek-related photos from the clip in an attempt to quell UK and overseas fandom which seems to be growing more irate by the hour.
The clip itself is said to have shown a lot of scenes of Smith and Tennant's Doctors running about, and (finally) a look at the events of the Time War. Moffat added that he's currently on page 20 of writing this year's Christmas special that will see the character's regeneration.
