A must watch movie from the brilliant director Paresh Mokashi. The movie is as brilliant as his previous directions Elizabeth ekadashi and Harishchandrachi factory. It's a Marathi-language suspense thriller+comedy with a beyond imagination ending. Gr8 acting from Swapnil Joshi, Anita Date, Subodh Bhave and Shivani Surve with brilliant comedic timing. Connot fail to remember the funny role by Namrata Sambherao. The first half is just building the story and by the second half you would start to scratch your head thinking of the ending. A perfect name for the movie Vaalvi(termites). You should watch it in the theatres and appreciate the work of the writer, director, actors and everyone involved in making this a Fantastic film.

The dark comedy film 'VAALVI' is a hilarious, deliciously twisted and thought-provoking masterpiece. The script is razor-sharp and the performances by the cast are top-notch, particularly the lead actors who perfectly capture the nuances of the complex and morally ambiguous characters. One husband wants to kill his wife and makes it to be looked like a suicide. Will he be succeeded on his plan or not is the premises of Vaalvi. It's a Dark-Comedy Thriller, so there are many funny moments, also good thrill is there. Laugh out moments are there specially in the 2nd half.

The screenplay is perfect, I smiled, laughed and get shocked throughout the film. The ending is unexpected, loved it. Amazing Performances by all, loved Swapnil Joshi and Shivani Surve the most. I've heard that makers will do a sequel and I'll be waiting for that. Thriller lovers shouldn't miss this one. Recommended.

I've watched hundreds of Thrillers, handful number of Thrilcoms and I've always wished that such movies should be made in Marathi too. Thankfully my wish has come true and we have got a movie that shouldn't be missed. This is an original movie that keeps you on the edge of your seat and makes you laugh hard at the subtle dark comedy in it. Funny thing is you even wonder how can I be laughing at such situations but you can't help.

The length of Valvi is just 1 hour 46 minutes, with no songs, no futile romance and no nonsense. It's fast paced. The script is tight and engaging. The dialogues are witty and on point. Direction is smart. I am a big fan of Paresh Mokashi and I've loved his work since I watched his play 'Mukkampost Bombilwadi' which happens to be my most favourite. He has good experience with comedy but I was surprised to see his hand at Thrillers. I don't like to compare as such, but I can call him Marathi industry's Shriram Raghavan.

As far as acting is concerned I think all actors have done their job superbly. I'm not a big fan of Swwapnil Joshi, but I loved his acting in this movie. He should actually be utilised for such unconventional roles. Shivani Surve has done a great job too. So has Subodh and Anita Date.

Overall this is one Marathi movie that you should not miss. Especially the people who love Thrillers.

Won't say anything about the title of my review. One should watch the movie to get it.

I watched Vaalvi in theatre and yes the experience was fantastic.

1. Intellectual Script and Superb Direction by Paresh Mokashi 2. Perfect characters played by Swapnil Joshi, Subodh Bhave, Anita Daate, Shivani Surve, Namrata Sambherao.

3. Laughing riot in a suspense thriller movie. Standing ovation to writer for this.

4. Why the name Vaalvi? For that I give a bow to the director.

5. There is no single moment that is not taking the story ahead. Movie keeps moving ahead every second.

6. Last but not the least, an unpredictable ending.

7. Huge thanks to Zee Studios and Paresh Mokashi for taking Marathi Movies to next level.

Top class cinema!! Considering the kind of topic movie handles, the director did a commendable job to keep the screenplay top-notch. Not a single moment feels cheap.

Excellent acting by all the star cast. Their expressions speak volumes. Their acting elaborates the scenes thousand times better than dialogues.

Proud of Marathi cinema! Go and watch in theatres. Much much better than cheap Bollywood masala movies.

Very nicely written, directed, enacted and videographed. A murder mystery that keeps the audience engaged and the moment we lose focus the movie picks the pace again. So at no point in time the audience is losing attention.

A very simple story is made interesting with a presentation. All jokes that come out of the situations and frustration and all other emotions are subtle and never felt out of the line.

And to top it off the climax, just when you think what the end could be the unexpected things happen and the audience is stunned and leaves the theatre laughing. I have never seen any movies and the audience laughs at murder scenes.

We can't be the judge for this great master peice, just a terrific storyline by the writer, director and all the actors. Marathi movie on a next level... from the beginning to the end the story narration was just thriller!!!

'jaane bhi do yaaro" "andhadhun" hilarious murder mystery keeps you glued to your seat. But this one made us jump... Hats off!!!

Marathi is not everyone language, but subtitles helped to understand. Even the bollywood audience should watch this movie!!!

After Kantara, my second top list is "Vaalvi". Thank you for bringing such a good movie to the now a days cinema lovers!!!!

The editing is sharp and seamless, keeping the audience hooked until the very end. All in all, this is an unexpected gem of a dark comedy thriller in Marathi cinema, truly worth a watch.

I can't believe what I just saw ! Hats off to the writer for even imagining such a script and then the director for pulling it off in such a brilliant manner. I have seen a lot of films/ series based on "dark humour", but the humour element here is blended in so naturally that you will end up in splits in the most impossible of situations ! Again credit to the writing and of course the actors who have done a wonderful job. The first half is an edge of the seat build up towards the plot and the second half is a mad road trip that follows, and I wasn't sure at first where it wud lead to, but the end so unexpected, it will hit you like a brick wall ! And then when the realisation of the subject and the subtle references towards it start sinking in, the respect for the writer / director grows even bigger !! Won't reveal much. Just go & watch this masterpiece !

Vaalvi (2023) : Brief Review -

A perfect murder does not exist for humans, but it does for Termites! Paresh Mokashi's triple dose of combined brainstorming of Keaton & Hitchcock. Vaalvi sets Marathi cinema apart from other regional industries as far as genre-breaking films are concerned. Buster Keaton gave us humorous adventures, and Alfred Hitchcock gave us suspenseful thrillers. Vaalvi is the result of the combined brainstorming of both of these cinematic legends, filed by an emerging legend, Paresh Mokashi. This guy thinks differently from mainstream cinema. Nobody would have dared to make a biopic with out-and-out humour, but he did it with Harishchandrachi Factory. No one would have imagined a sensitive, spiritual, and message-driven film like Elizabeth Ekadashi with kid-friendly humour, but only Paresh had that much brain to make it possible. Now, he makes a murder mystery+comedy, which is again a first of its kind in Marathi cinema. There are some flicks made in this genre down south and in British cinema, so of course there are a few flaws in terms of outright intelligent narrative. However, the pacy screenplay, engaging storytelling, dedicated performances, breathtaking adventures, and absurdly clever and effective climax make Vaalvi a high-standard watch. I won't talk about the story because I don't want to give away the suspense that the entire Vaalvi team has kept for 3 years (since its making), but I'll give a brief overview. Vaalvi is about engineering a perfect murder, which we all know is not possible humanly or naturally (except for Drishyam). But the human formula isn't applicable to other creatures that don't have brains. Termites, for instance. Mokashi's film is smart at times and a little dumb other times, but it is never a waste or a boring watch. Happy New Year to all Marathi viewers, and I am sure you will never forget the wishes after watching this film.

Extremely insensitive movie. A dentist, psychiatrist start killing people for silly reasons. Extra marital affairs of lead characters didn't look natural. Silly jokes are attempted in unnatural manner. No sane human being can behave so casually with dead bodies. No value of human life. I wonder how this movie is rated more than 8 on imdb. I don't want to discuss about acting, dialogue writing etc. Because main storyline itself is unjustified and insensitive. These actors don't even read the script before acting in such movie. Normalizing such kind of criminal thinking and making jokes on that, is not acceptable in any art form.

Story- Aniket (Swapnil Joshi) & his wife Avni( Anita Date) decide to end their lives together. However there is more than what meets the eye, this is actually a well planned murder about to be executed by Aniket and his girlfriend Devika ( Shivani Surve) with Avni as the victim. Can't reveal anything more without giving away the suspense!!

What is Subodh Bhave's role in the film and how is the name Vaalvi ( Termites) apt for this film are the things to watch out for.

Superb screenplay with a gripping storyline that is full of twists and turns right from the word go, will keep you hooked till the very end.

Muted comedy dialogues are just brilliant and tend to make you laugh even in the tense situations that the characters are in !!

Swapnil Joshi, Subodh Bhave create magic on screen as they did in Fugay. The female leads too perform brilliantly.

In a nutshell, everything falls in place for this film. Highly recommended!! Watch it in theatres now or on OTT when it eventually streams. Don't miss !!

The movie was very intriguing for me when I first saw trailer it was like just typical crime scene and they dramatically it will failed off.

From start of picture I was stick to chair thinking how the crime scene will go ahead or not. I was like there will be one turn when crime scene fail either they will caught by fighting between them or Avani will resurrect and fail all the scene.

I loved the part played by Subodh Bhave more that other two. The way he play the character was most awesome.

The end was really unexpected for us, just love the movie how well directed and played across pictures.

Vaalvi is an outstanding mystery/black comedy. The movie is really well made and all the things perfectly fall in place. I think not even one scene or one shot is included unnecessarily, and thats what makes it an engaging movie from the start.

The movie doesn't waste time, doesn't have unnecessary songs or other subplots.

Super direction from Paresh mokashi.

Screenplay and dialogues are just naturally flowing, never once felt any of the line or scene forced. Editing was on point.

All the cast delivered one of the best performance of their career.

I hope this movie will give a new direction to marathi industry where filmmakers will realise what is important to include in a film and what is not. A superb start for marathi industry in 2023.

Now Its up to us, the audience to make it visible that we want this kind of content and we are ready for it.

Movie is very engaging till end, and this is so good suspense drama comedy and crime combination that only after watching it completely you get thrilled with the whole experience. Loved it.. waiting for this kind of different subject Marathi movies with such a great quality content. Hats off to Paresh Mokashi for it.

All actors have acted very well and the movie keep you going. The name of the movie suggest everything. The scenes and dialogue delivery is done so well that you keep thinking what's next.

The ending is the best part that when you are so deep in the movie, it ends and keep the experience alive even after the movie ends.

This is spine chilling movie. Interval is terrific and end is unexpected horrific.

Story starts with hero makes plan with his girlfriend to kill his wife and decides one date. On that day he kills her as per the plan but somehow there are series of twists which will keep you glued till end and you try to predict 2-3 ends and unexpected end comes which will shock you.

Overall a best typical andhadhun + drishyam type suspense crime comedy thriller.

You will surely enjoy specially interval scene and the end scene. These 2 are the jaan of the film.

Subodh Bhave has done tremendous acting and after his entry movie goes to next level.

This is certainly recommended, you will be at the end of your seat while watching this movie. It is a masterpiece and need appreciation for the efforts. From story to acting, cinematography to dialogues and screenplay to acting, you would love everything. A must watch!!

One of the most interesting story which have a thrilling and comedy effects. Comedy and thriller is a rare experience and by watching this movie we all can enjoy that First half of the story is normal and nothing is quite interesting. It is like a normal movie but as soon as the second half starts it is only a thriller with comedic effects . The speciality of the movie is there are only few characters but they all are well characterised. The actors like Swapnil Joshi, Shivani Surve and Subodh Bhave had given a fabulous work. Subodh Bhave gives a fun and interesting element to movie . Special appearance of Namrata gives a whole more Comedic effect. The director Prakash Mokashi had done outstanding work in representing the movie . We should appreciate their work and should watch the movie at the theatres .
