Move over Bollywood, India’s animated heroes are taking center stage.
Warner Bros. Discovery is significantly ramping up its kids entertainment offering in India, with the media giant set to deliver 200 half-hours of fresh content across its three children’s channels in Q2 alone.
The company’s kids entertainment cluster, comprising Pogo, Cartoon Network and Discovery Kids, will introduce a slate of new content that includes 71 half-hours of new premieres on Pogo, focusing heavily on homegrown Indian IPs like “Chhota Bheem,” “Little Singham” and “Jay Jagannath.” The remit of Arjun Nohwar, general manager for India and South Asia, extends across the region with cross-border cultural similarities including Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Nepal and Bhutan.
“We are looking for stories that resonate across South Asia,” Nohwar tells Variety. “One thing that we’ve started seeing is that some of these franchises and shows that we make will resonate with the Indian diaspora across the world.

Disney fans born before or during the turn of the century likely associate the studio’s animated films with its iconic two-dimensional style. Beginning with Snow White, these movies became a childhood staple for generations. However, with Tangled, Disney shifted to a three-dimensional animation style. While not new to 3-D — thanks to earlier films like Bolt and Meet the Robinsons — Tangled marked the first Disney princess film in this style, concluding the 2-D princess era with 2009’s ThePrincess and the Frog.
The trend of 3-D animation has continued, with recent films like Encanto earning widespread acclaim. Alongside this, Disney has increasingly favored live-action remakes of its classics, with their first attempt coming via 1994's The Jungle Book. It has since continued this trend, with movies like The Little Mermaid and Snow White getting a live-action remake, further distancing audiences from the charm of 2-D animation. You are not the only one excited for “The Batman 2.”
Star Robert Pattinson shared an enticing (but brief) update on the highly anticipated superhero project, telling Extra that he finally knows what the film is about and that he can’t wait to wear the cape and mask again. Writer Matt Reeves, however, is doing a great job of cloaking any spoiler-y details.
“I know what it’s about now,” Pattinson said. “Matt [Reeves] is a very careful writer, but I finally now know what it’s about. It’s very cool and I’m very excited.”

The Marvel actress who played Miss Minutes in Loki turned 52 on February 13, Thursday. Tara Strong, the Canadian actress, is known for her voice roles in the industry and has voiced Raven in Teen Titans and Teen Titans Go!. Strong was at the center of controversy in October 2023, when she was fired from her show Boxtown for her controversial political statements.

The realm of animation continues to be a highly experimental and unique field. Although many associate animation with child-focused cartoons, the medium has proven its weird potential, offering everything from educational kids' programming to provocative adult stories.
Some of the strangest animated series are also the best examples of animation's potential. It takes sophisticated animation to make a weird series like ReBoot work or make the math-based combat skills in Cyberchase look good. Though it's often to their credit, these animated series feel more like fever dreams than anything else.

Cartoon Network has a long history of offering just as many huge disappointments as hit shows. While some cartoons like Adventure Time and Clarence were controversial, they developed a strong fanbase and received many positive reviews. On the other hand, some shows failed to impress most viewers due to weak premises, uninteresting plots, and sometimes simply annoying characters.
From the incredibly disappointing Teen Titans Go! reboot to the ridiculous premise of The High Fructose Adventures of Annoying Orange, some Cartoon Network shows divided fans. Meanwhile, othersfailed to create even enough interest to entice viewers beyond the first couple of episodes, let alone the first season or two.

First established in 1992, Cartoon Network is still one of the biggest channels in the US. Although the network had a lot of competition, particularly from Disney Channel and Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network still delivered a ton of fantastic shows. As a result, shows like Johnny Bravo and We Bare Bears have remained near and dear to fans' hearts.
While Cartoon Network certainly had its hits, the channel also released a plethora of hidden gems. They may not have been as popular as the lead contenders, but they managed to captivate audiences with their detailed character arcs and surprising plots. Thus, it seems that these more obscure shows have a lot more to offer than their more popular counterparts.

Last month, we found out that Max, the streaming service for many DC shows and movies, was going to make some changes. Four popular DC animated series were set to leave by the start of 2025. On January 1, if you were planning on watching some of your favorite animated shows, you were most likely met by disappointment.
The shows removed include ‘Teen Titans,’ ‘Teen Titans Go!,’ ‘Static Shock,’ and ‘Green Lantern: The Animated Series.’ To make it clear, it’s not only DC Shows that got removed from the streaming service many notable classics like ‘Ed, Edd n’ Eddy,’ ‘The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy’, ‘The Looney Tunes Show’ were also removed.
It’s unclear why the shows were removed in the first place but it’s mostly related to licensing rights and the show will be returned at some point in the future. However, if you’re planning on rewatching them right now,...

Cartoon Network fans are starting 2025 on a sour note as several beloved animated series have been removed from Max.
Just last month, it was announced that four popular DC animated series—Teen Titans, Teen Titans Go!, Static Shock, and Green Lantern: The Animated Series—would leave the platform by the end of 2024. True to the announcement, these shows disappeared from Max’s library after December 31. But it didn’t stop there.
As of January 1, more fan-favorites have also been removed, including Ed, Edd n’ Eddy, The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy, The Looney Tunes Show, and the first seven seasons of Teen Titans Go! While the show’s eighth season remains on Max, fans hoping to revisit earlier episodes will have to look elsewhere, like Hulu, where some seasons are still available.

Teen Titans Go! may have its fans, but Max seemingly isn't one of them. The streamer got a head start on spring cleaning by kicking off 2025 with a content purge.
Per ComicBook.com, Max has removed the first seven seasons of Teen Titans Go! from its platform. Additionally, the original Teen Titans series which aired for five seasons and 65 episodes from 2003 to 2006 is no longer available to stream. The only silver lining is that Season 8 of Teen Titans Go! is still accessible to fans on Max. The eighth (and current) season of the fan-favorite DC animated series premiered in October 2022 and aired its most recent episode, the two-part "Four Hundred," on Nov. 30, 2024.

Warning: Spoilers for Titans (2023) #18 ahead!
Raven has long been a fan-favorite character across all iterations of the Titans, despite often undergoing significant changes from medium to medium. Now, however, fresh developments suggest that DC is ready to make some elements from the Teen Titans! (2003) animated series canon, bringing more cohesion to Raven's character across various platforms.
Tensions run high in Titans (2023) #18 - written by John Layman, with art by Pete Woods – as the Titans are forced out of their tower in Blüdhaven and must go underground. Raven, normally stoic and controlled, reacts especially poorly to the change, snapping at her teammates in a rage and later being overcome by fear and violence in a firefight.
Beast Boy explains that "[Raven]'s personality was split into different pieces for months on end during the whole Dark-Winged Queen stuff," a plot detail that echoes the plot of the popular Teen Titans! episode, "Nevermore.

Following an initial online rumor, we got confirmation that a live-action Teen Titans movie was in the works at DC Studios back in March with Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow writer Ana Nogueira enlisted to pen the script.
Updates have been few and far between since, but a recent Production Weekly logline did claim to reveal the key team members: "The Teen Titans are further apart than ever before… until Damian Wayne recruits Starfire, Raven, Beast Boy and the new Kid Flash to join him in a fight against his own grandfather, Ra’s al Ghul."
However, we'd later hear that the movie will focus on a "pre-existing team being revived," which suggested that the roster would more likely consist of the original '60s comic book line-up: Kid Flash (Wally West), Robin (Dick Grayson), Aqualad (Garth) and Wonder Girl (Donna Troy).

As DC fan, I appreciate that he's doing his part to boost the company's comic books. So many other superhero movie writers treat the comics as only raw material, but Gunn's got real passion for them.

You can see that earnest love in how deep he pulls from the comics. At Marvel Studios, Gunn elevated the Guardians of the Galaxy into the mainstream and made his fave Rocket Raccoon a household name. Gunn's "The Suicide Squad" was similarly filled with deep cuts from DC comic books. No one else would make a blockbuster starring characters like Peacemaker (John Cena), Ratcatcher (Daniela Melchior), and Polka-Dot Man.

Variety is reporting that a Clayface movie is officially moving forward at DC Studios, with Mike Flanagan (Doctor Sleep; The Fall of the House of Usher; Midnight Mass) attached to write the screenplay.
Flanagan and Trevor Macy, his partner at Intrepid Pictures, pitched the potential film to James Gunn and Peter Safran over a year ago, and it looks like the idea won over the new DC bosses as they've issued a formal greenlight.
Plot details remain under wraps, but what we do know is that Clayface won't be a villain in the feature, which makes sense considering that back in 2021, Flanagan, when asked which DC movie he'd like to make, said, "Well I've wanted to do a Superman movie since I was a kid, but I would also be really keen to do a standalone Clayface movie as a horror/thriller/tragedy."
Filming is tentatively scheduled to begin early next year,...

There are few things millennials enjoy more than taking a trip down memory lane. You know, the good old days! One of the best ways to do this is by rewatching our favorite animated favorites such as Static Shock and Teen Titans, aka our Saturday morning cartoon lineup!
If this is something you also like do it, I’m sorry to report that streaming our old animated favorites is about to become more difficult. HBO and Max will begin removing many of these shows towards the end of December, leaving us with little to no options in the year 2025. Here’s a list of animated shows leaving the streamer.
Teen Titans leaves Max on Dec. 29

If there's one thing a slasher movie franchise needs, it's an instantly recognizable slasher. "Halloween" has Michael Myers, "A Nightmare on Elm Street" has Freddy Krueger (inseparable from actor Robert Englund), "Friday the 13th" has Jason Voorhees, and "Scream" has Ghostface. Unlike the other slashers, though, Ghostface is a mantle, not a single person.
The original "Scream" was a murder mystery, with Ghostface unmasked and killed at the film's end. Each sequel has continued the trend: a new person slips on the ghoulish white mask, full body black cloak, and starts stabbing people in Sidney Prescott's (Neve Campbell) orbit. While each Ghostface killer has naturally been played by a different actor, the disguised voice is the same in every movie, provided by voice actor Roger L. Jackson. Get a look at the voice behind the mask courtesy of this video from Jamie Kennedy (who played Randy Meeks in "Scream").

It's been nearly two decades since Teen Titans Season 5 concluded on a heartbreaking cliffhanger, but fans are still hungry to see the story's resolution. Since 2013, the series' comedic spin-off Teen Titans Go! has been dominating the airwaves on Cartoon Network and providing fans with plenty of laughs. Still, the loose threads of the original animated series remain. According to prolific actress Tara Strong — who voiced Raven in the original Teen Titans and continues to do so in Teen Titans Go! — a sixth season is still something the cast would love to explore.
... we all want to do Season 6 too, and personally, as well as the rest of the Titans, we're like, 'Let's do both, because they're two different shows.' There's no reason why we can't give the fans this well deserved ending to this pivotal story arc that we sort of left everybody hanging at.

Cartoon Network is bringing the best of classic cartoons back to make this Christmas an even more special time for viewers, and one of those classics coming back is ‘The Flintstones.’ And for the very first time in 12 long years.
Cartoon Network – Plans To Surprise Viewers With ‘The Flintstones’ Marathon
There’s a lot of surprises and fun stuffs coming up this Christmas. For example, Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade debuted an enormous Wednesday float and parade, with Pugsley’s head on a platter, so to speak.
Not far off from the ultimate surprise leaderboard is Cartoon Network bringing back an old favorite in the way of a marathon run on Dec. 14. If this happens, it will be the first time that the Warner Bros. Discovery-owned will be showing viewers a glimpse of the modern stone age family.
What can fans expect from this return? Well, did you ever know...

"Maybe We 'Roger Rabbit' That Stuff" – Tara Strong Previews What Could Be Next for 'Teen Titans Go!'
Teen Titans Go! has just debuted its 400th episode and is celebrating becoming the longest-running DC animated series of all time. We recently got the opportunity to sit down and talk with Raven voice actress Tara Strong, who reflected on the long journey to this point and shared some thoughts on the series' future.
At this point, Teen Titans Go! looks like it could go on forever. As Tara Strong jokes, "... in our minds, we're gonna get to episode 10,000." Sure, the actress is only kidding, but she still thinks about what episode 500 might look like. Strong speculated: "Maybe there's an on-camera mix. Maybe we Roger Rabbit that stuff, you know?" She continued, "I'll suit up. Everybody will suit up. Everybody."

Teen Titans Go! might not be the first series that comes to mind when most comic book fans are asked to name the longest-running DC animated series of all time — a point brought up in the recently aired and hilariously meta 400th episode — but it currently is. The wacky series' longevity is a testament to its always-hilarious writing and performances, as well as its dedicated fandom, according to Raven voice actress Tara Strong, who graciously sat down to chat with us in the lead-up to the show's incredible milestone.
It's insane. Literally, the longest running animated DC series, which, when you think about it, is cuckoo.
I started in 'Batman' in my 20s. Like, of every show I've done, 'Teen Titans Go!' is the longest running DC animated show. It's amazing, and a testament to the fans too. We had so much fun.

Tara Strong is a legendary voice actor who's played many memorable characters, but none moreso than Raven on Teen Titans Go!, which celebrates its 400th episode on Nov. 30. The long-running animated series has been on the air for over a decade, and in that time, Strong and her fellow voice actors have captured the imagination of countless viewers. And the 400th adventure for Raven and her teammates is about to make them fall in love with the show all over again.
In a wide-ranging interview with Cbr, Strong spoke to Cbr about what audiences can look forward to in the 400th episode of Teen Titans Go! and how the series truly made it a milestone. She also reflected on how much the character of Raven and her co-stars have come to mean to her. Plus, she discussed her place in the DC Universe and revealed which other DC character is particularly special to her.

Ahead of the 400th episode of Teen Titans Go!, the show's cast and showrunner spoke with The Direct and took a look back at the impact of the long-running DC series after all these years.
Seven years after the fifth and final season of the original, more serious (but still family-friendly) Teen Titans animated series ended with an unresolved cliffhanger, the show saw a complete reboot in 2013.
It became the now eight-season-long Teen Titans Go!, an irreverent, satirical series on Cartoon Network. The reboot brought back all five members of the original cast, but otherwise looked starkly different from its previous iteration.

The anime-loving hip-hop rapper Megan Thee Stallion has premiered a 'spicy' new costume, so to speak, for Halloween. This cosplay is based on the 2018 anime action series JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind.
Megan Thee Stallion uploaded her latest Halloween costume on her official Instagram account. The online photos show the Houston, Texas rapper as Trish Una, the pink-haired 15-year-old who commands the Stand "Spice Girl" -- an intentional reference to the English girl group from the '90s. Megan Thee Stallion is stunning as the former spoiled daughter of Diavolo in Part 5 of the JoJo series. Shes seen with the characters pop music-inspired Stand, one dynamic photo after another.

Teen Titans Go! is a comedic take on DC's Titans, which follows Robin, Cyborg, Starfire, Raven, and Beast Boy as they do their best to stop crime, but often end up just finding themselves in trouble. It is hard to take them seriously, which is the fun of it all. The series debuted more than ten years ago, in 2013, has a feature film, and is celebrating its 400th episode soon.
This episode sees the Titans in stop-motion animation for the first time ever, as they celebrate being the longest-running DC animated series. The all-star cast all have other incredible projects they are a part of. However, they have created a true family with each other, which is incredible to witness. Cartoon Network will be playing all episodes of Teen Titans Go! ahead of the 400th episode premiere on November 30.

Sci-fi and fantasy movies often challenge viewers to imagine infinite possibilities, but many forget just how many cartoon spinoffs exist in their wake. These adaptations often expand the lore, brand, and relevance of their cinematic counterparts, sometimes offering deeper explorations of worlds only briefly touched on in the source material. While shows like The Real Ghostbusters, Beetlejuice, and Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous have found enduring popularity, they represent just a fraction of the sci-fi and fantasy cartoons that haven't enjoyed the same success.
Cinema has long captivated children with its fantastic worlds, and over the years, it became increasingly common for movies to spin off into animated TV series. Early examples like King Kong, Planet of the Apes, and Fantastic Voyage often served as gateways for younger audiences to explore these larger-than-life stories. Today, that tradition continues with titles like Jurassic World: Chaos Theory, Gremlins: The Wild Batch, and an upcoming Ghostbusters project.

Despite the large role the Teen Titans played in DC animation in the 2000s, any fans of that era will likely have a hard time recognizing Beast Boy now, especially in the comics. In both the Teen Titans and Teen Titans Go! cartoons, Beast Boy played the comic relief role, bringing humor and hijinks to the darkest scenarios. Now, however, Beast Boy is unwillingly vying for the role of most tragic hero in the DC Universe.

Under Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav’s continued campaign of content erasure, animation fans mourn the destruction of Planet Nielsen.
In case Zaslav’s reputation among the cartoon community wasn’t low enough already, the controversial executive’s regime made a surprising and surreptitious move this week that sparked outrage across numerous online fandoms. Following the latest updates to the Max streaming library, seven Cartoon Network shows have disappeared from the premium streaming service, with Ben 10, Steven Universe, the 2016 Powerpuff Girls revival, Amazing World of Gumball, We Bare Bears, Chowder and Regular Show all pulled from service without so much as a “leaving soon” notice.
Now that the entire entertainment industry is firmly sliding on a downward slope following the peak of streaming, it seems that no TV series — no matter how beloved or endlessly quoted — is safe from the content cuts that have become company-wide policy under Zaslav’s leadership.

If you're a fan of DC Comics, the past few years have probably been pretty tough for you. A merger at Warner Bros. led to the cancellation of a slew of movies and TV shows set within their cinematic universe, and new owners at The CW also resulted in the cancellations of multiple DC TV shows that had been dominating the network for the past decade.
Yeah, it's been rough out here for DC fans. The good news is that a new DC Universe is coming from Peter Safran and James Gunn, but it's going to take some time before it comes to fruition (animated series Creature Commandos is debuting in December and Gunn's own Superman movie doesn't come out until next year). That means there will still be a prolonged period of time without much DC TV content on our screens - unthinkable this time just three years ago.

Teen Titans Go! debuted in 2013, about ten years after its predecessor, Teen Titans, hit the small screen. The cartoon is a comedic take on the DC superhero team of the same name, which includes Robin, Starfire, Raven, Cyborg, and Beast Boy. It shares the same voice cast as the 2003 Teen Titans, though it is fundamentally different from the series that came before in both visuals and writing style.
11 years after it premiered, Teen Titans Go! is still going strong on Cartoon Network. Per President of Cartoon Network Studios Sam Register, the comedy has "no end in sight," even after eight seasons and a theatrical film. Now sitting at 397 episodes, Teen Titans Go! is DC's longest-running series by a mile. With such a high episode count and production still ongoing, the controversial hit is likely to hang onto that crown indefinitely.
It's Unlikely Another DC Show Will Have As Many Episodes As Teen Titans Go!

The galaxy far, far away is expanding with the Disney+ series Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, a coming-of-age story about a ragtag group of kids that team up with a mysterious character played by Jude Law. Helmed by Jon Watts (Spider-Man: No Way Home), Skeleton Crew adds a new member to the supporting cast, this time an actor who played a major role in a lot of people's childhoods. Jaleel White, who famously played Steve Urkel on Family Matters, is set to join the streaming project as one of its space baddies.
Entertainment Weekly released brand-new images from the upcoming Star Wars show, revealing Jaleel White will be playing Gunter, who is part of a space pirate crew that also includes Vane (Marti Matulis), Brutus, Pax (Mike Estes), and Chaelt (Dale Soules). The image does not paint them in a positive light, as they will seemingly act as some of the show's villains.

For many, sitting in front of the TV and watching cartoons has been their favorite pastime growing up. There is something enigmatic about the colorful characters contorting their anatomical features to the fullest for slapstick humor that brings a bundle of laughter into the living room. These fond memories are always something worth looking back at.

Beetlejuice made a notable crossover with DC superheroes in a Teen Titans Go! Halloween special. Beetlejuice's broadway paid homage to the character's stage debut by starring in the episode. Beetlejuice has also made appearances with DC characters in comics and video games, further expanding his pop culture presence.
The title character of Beetlejuice, also known as "Betelgeuse," has long had a cult following from the 1988 movie that gave the famous ghost his start. Since then, fans have enjoyed seeing him, and might even been introduced to him, through other appearances, like the 1989 cartoon, which lasted four seasons, and the Broadway musical. For years, rumors told stories of a possible sequel, Beetlejuice Goes Hawaiian. However, the cult film would eventually gain a proper sequel in Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.

DC Super Hero Girls portrays the most extreme contrast between Bruce Wayne and Batman for comedic effect. The show uses an over-the-top, vapid Bruce Wayne to effectively conceal Batman's true identity. The exaggerated differences in voice and persona between Bruce Wayne and Batman add humor while maintaining secrecy.
One particular DC animated show has possibly the most convincing way to keep Batman's identity secret, and it's one that many would never have guessed. DC Super Hero Girls was a two-season animated series that aired from March 2019 until October 2021. Similar to Teen Titans Go!, the DC animated show focused on capturing a younger audience, featuring teenage versions of iconic DC heroines including, Wonder Woman, Batgirl, Supergirl, Zatanna, Green Lantern, and Bumblebee.
A key aspect of Bruce Wayne is how he plays up the billionaire playboy persona to help mask his secret identity as Batman. DC Super Hero Girls goes the extra length to portray this idea,...

Just one week after announcing the shuttering of the classic cartoon streaming service Boomerang, Warner Bros. DIscovery is once again slashing away at its animation archives. The official Cartoon Network website has been shut down, and it will now redirect any visitors at cartoonnetwork.com to a landing page at the company's subscription streaming service Max asking viewers to subscribe to watch their favorite animated shows. The site was once a way to check out full episodes and clips of shows like Adventure Time, Teen Titans Go!, and The Amazing World of Gumball and play free games based on those series and more. It was apparently taken offline on Thursday.

After serving the retro animation community proudly for seven years, the classic cartoon streaming service Boomerang will cease to exist at the end of September — and this time, it’s not coming back.
Warner Bros. Discovery CEO and president David Zaslav seems to have a bit of a love/hate relationship with his company’s immense library of classic works of art. He loves purging old Warner Bros. films from the Max streaming library, and he hates it when subscribers watch anything older than the pilot episode of Milf Manor. In Zaslav’s post-art, pro-”content” business model for Max, the streaming hub for Warner Bros. Discovery’s most culturally significant IP becomes even more bare-bones with each round of cuts, and the original shows and movies produced by Max oftentimes face cancellation after post-production and pre-premiere, leaving solidly screen-tested films like Coyote vs. Acme in a permanent state of inaccessibility to the average subscriber.
