Book five of The Stormlight Archive is finally out, leaving many readers wondering what Brandon Sanderson books they can expect in the near future. Brandon Sanderson's Cosmere fantasy universe, which contains titles like Mistborn and Tress of the Emerald Sea, has skyrocketed in popularity in recent years, with six full-length novels being released in the 2020s so far. Sanderson spoiled his readers with the Secret Project books he wrote during the pandemic, and unfortunately, it's back to business as usual now in the next few years.
Though Brandon Sanderson still has plenty of books to look forward to, there should only be one entirely original Cosmere book coming out between 2025 and 2028, with that being the fifth Secret Project. Sanderson has non-Cosmere novels for readers to look forward to, which his 2024 State of Sanderson blog post explains is a way for him to stray fresh and motivated between monstrous volumes of The Stormlight Archive.

It sounds like we won't be watching Brandon Sanderson's Cosmere on the big screen any time soon.
We're only a few short days away from Christmas, and you know what that means: it's the time of the year when author Brandon Sanderson publishes his yearly "State of the Sanderson" blog post, going over everything he did in the previous year and everything he hopes to do in the immediate future. Sanderson has made a habit of writing these posts going back to 2013, and they've become very popular with fans thanks to the author's candor about his various works.
This year's State of the Sanderson is a monstrously long post, as could be expected from a year where Sanderson wrapped up the first arc of his epic fantasy series The Stormlight Archive. There's a ton to parse in there, from the future of Stormlight and Mistborn, to his timeline for his next books,...

“We Don’t Talk About Bruno,” the fantastically catchy breakout song from Disney’s “Encanto,” topped Billboard’s Hot 100 songs chart for a second week, but it wasn’t alone. Seven more numbers from the animated musical also charted for the week of Jan. 28-Feb. 3.
While “Bruno” reigns in first place, “Colombia, Mi Encanto,” performed by Colombian singer Carlos Vives, debuted in the very last slot, making it the eighth song from the soundtrack to hit the Hot 100, Billboard reports.
The other songs on the chart: “Surface Pressure, “The Family Madrigal, “What Else Can I Do?,” “Dos Oruguitas,” “Waiting On A Miracle,” and “All of You.”
Every song from @EncantoMovie on this week's #Hot100:
#1, We Don't Talk About Bruno
#8, Surface Pressure
#20, The Family Madrigal
#31, What Else Can I Do?
#38, Dos Oruguitas
#50, Waiting On A Miracle
#74, All of You

“A fashion photographer gets more than she bargained for when a roll of film in a used camera contains sinister imagery of high-society menace that sends her into a labyrinth of imminent danger,” reads the logline for China Test Girls, the second feature from Filmmaker 25 New Face Frankie Latina. In post-production, and with the final scenes just shot due to Latina’s own finding of an unused, refrigerated roll of Fuji film stock, the film looks to contain the ’60s/’70s exploitation vibe and anarchic underground weirdness that made his previous film, Modus Operandi, a favorite here at the magazine. Latina […]...

Danny Trejo is gearing up star in yet another genre piece Snap Shot. This time around Danny will work with his son Gilbert Trejo who wrote the screenplay. It seems appropriate keeping things in the family given Trejos own tendency to work with his cousin Robert Rodriguez. Well soon see if Gilbert has the mojo to carry on the Trejo family mystique.

• Miles Teller is making waves. The soulful Spectacular Now star can add another notch to his indie belt. Teller will play the lead role in Whiplash — the Sundance-winning short from writer-director Damien Chazelle (Guy and Madeline on a Park Bench) that’s getting the feature treatment. Teller will play a novice drummer in an elite jazz conservatory who is subjected to the wrath of his merciless instructor, played by J.K. Simmons (who will reprise the role that he originated in Chazelle’s short). [Deadline]
