A person who is a genius in one area but below normal in others is typically called a savant; this phenomenon is referred to as "savant syndrome" where someone displays exceptional ability in a specific domain despite significant intellectual impairments in other areas.
Often these people withdraw from the humiliation they face, for being unable to do things others do with ease.
I'm trying to decide if the writers are going to thread the needle, in a way thats fair in depicting both the assets and liabilities of the "Genius."
So far the acttors and directing are just ok. For me, the show will rise or fail on the writers. Remember big bang theory? Similar in that, at first, you watched because of the humor. Over time some of the characters became more interesting. Except Sheldon, who remained annoying.
