It's nothing be surprising White Sands flopped, the plot is too much implausible, when the story implied that the CIA & FBI and American politicians at Washington D. C. selling their weapons for everyone? Well it's a basic premise, when a Sherriff (Willem Dafoe) finds out a death man with a full filled suitcase containing nothing despicable 500 thousand bucks in the middle of desert area on American southwest New Mexico, well he figures out better take over the death's identity aiming for clarify the unusual case.
As the offers suggest the Sherriff walks on quicksand paraphrasing the picture's title, anyway then came up several characters as the poker-face Mickey Rourke that presents himself as buyer of deflected weapons from US's Army for unknown purchaser country and having a gorgeous partner Lane Bodine (Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio) as local farmer, meanwhile he has FBI and CIA agents at his neck just having few time to figure out the whole portrait.
It was the last Mickey Rourke's movie due he owed this last one still under contract when he already planned go back as boxer, including tries out drop smoking, furthermore the Aussie director Roger Donaldson puzzled the audience in every single shot at the extent to what we seeing is a kind fictional storyline, due at any moment it sounds veritable, much alike a neo Noir if the Mastrantonio wasn't so dubious, not bad as killing time, so forget the logic.
Thanks for reading.

Along the early seventies a new genre Blaxploitation was in full developing that was brought to fruition on box-office, thus came up countless greedy producers trying entering in this profitable niche with newest approaching as they did in Ganga & Hess over an unusual black vampire draw up by Bill Gunn whereby the vampire didn't sucked the blood as usually, they drinking it by glasses, so they headed to Cannes Film Festival aiming for got the that fake certification from those bell spirit cinephiles of this self-called brainy Blaxploitation, big mistake.
So they have to came in the real world in New York making a louder and expensive opening at local theatre, oddly enough the few audience attending the premiere slowing were leaving an almost empty theatre displeased of the offering, the filmmakers became startled for such abrupt disappointment and tried figure out what they did wrong, worst anyone accepted a change, even trying selling it on low-profile drive in theatres as sexploitation, another wrong move hereinafter the picture was shelved and labeled as total failure, now on DVD's advent it bring to life as it was previously conceived by the late Bill Gunn.
Yesterday in my usual midnight movie session watching this overlong picture, I had almost fall asleep, so boring in slow pacing narrative, worst a gorgeous woman Marlene Clark just appears in the middle of the story, so the less demanding viewers have to stand some man in mostly part without any rewarding, well it doesn't meaning a smallest detail, any picture ought has eye-candy girls whenever it requires since the beginning, otherwise it would be addressed for another kind of audience, like in Cannes where had those folkloric men, this crap Blaxploitation deserves a keep in oblivion and rest in peace.
