maybe not convincing. but beautiful, well acted, full of seductive cinematography, a romantic story about honor and love, about ambition of great powers to build colonial empires and about religion in a free manner. it is not different by many other French historical films . same mixture of national proud and noble ideals, about good savage and cruel enemy, about forbidden love stories and happy solutions. its virtue - it is a beautiful film. Stellan Skarsgard does an admirable job exploring the possibilities of his role . the young actors are good in the translation of the image about the yearly age of period. in fact, it is a film of colors. the colors of emotions and the colors of nature. sentimental, heroic and hopeful.
