No pun intended - I actually should have asked the filmmakers that were there what they did about the shoe issue ... so much snow .. I can only imagine how uncomfortable it must have been during the shooting. But since I do not have an answer for that I'd like to concentrate on the movie, the performances and the cinematography.
Though I will add a last thing about the makers not having planned to shoot in snow ... but it happened to have snow where they decided to shoot. Lucky in the end, even if they didn't feel it at the beginning of the shoot. What was there from the start: a concept ... the main character and his issues and point of view ... the viewer is treated as partner to the filmmakers ... they give you something and you are able to make up your own mind ... what happened and how did it happen? So see it through his eyes ... but experience it through other people too ... who is on top of things? I love the ending too ... it may have some minor pacing issues within ... and you may not always agree on character choices ... but suspend your disbelief and go with it ...
