Jesse Metcalfe has signed on for MGM and Lightworkers’ new faith-based family drama “On a Wing and a Prayer,” starring opposite Dennis Quaid and Heather Graham.
Based on a true story, Quaid stars as Doug White, who’s forced to fly a plane after the pilot dies unexpectedly mid-flight.
The movie is the latest production from MGM’s Lightworkers — the company, founded by Roma Downey and Mark Burnett, is behind “The Bible” miniseries and MGM and Paramount’s contemporary “Ben-Hur” adaptation. Downey will produce the movie alongside Autumn Bailey-Ford, with Burnett serving as an executive producer. Directed by Sean McNamara from a screenplay by Brian Egeston, “On a Wing and a Prayer” is currently in production and slated for release on Aug. 31, 2022.

Two-time Golden Globe nominee and SAG Ensemble winner Dennis Quaid will star in MGM and LightWorkers’ faith-based family drama, On a Wing and a Prayer. The pic marks the actor’s third reteaming with filmmaker Sean McNamara after Soul Surfer and the upcoming biopic Reagan in which Quaid plays the title role as the 40th U.S. President. On a Wing and a Prayer will be released through MGM’s distribution and marketing joint venture United Artists Releasing.
After a small-town pilot dies unexpectedly while flying the plane, passenger Doug White (Quaid) is forced to land the plane safely in order to save his entire family. Actor Juan Pablo Di Pace will compete in the upcoming 27th season of “Dancing with the Stars,” which will make him the third cast member from Netflix’s “Fuller House” to compete for the Mirror Ball Trophy, following Candace Cameron Bure (season 18) and Jodie Sweetin (season 22). But neither of his co-stars won the competition. Can he improve on their performances? The new season begins on September 24th, so before he gets on the dance floor let’s consider his pros and cons.

At Netflix, Messiah will chronicle the world's reaction to a man thousands call "the Messiah" emerging from the Middle East...
The Word of God is good. It is also very lucrative. Ever since the days of silent films, the Bible has been big business in Hollywood. And as we travel ever further into 'peak television’s' new era of streaming, that one constant remains. However, the officially greenlit series Messiah, at least on its premise, promises to be a challenging new take on faith-based content.
First announced as in-development last spring, Netflix officially ordered a 10-episode series of Messiah yesterday, which is likely to be a controversial and highly publicised series when it eventually drops. Created by Michael Petroni, who has developed the project with producers Mark Burnett and Roma Downey, the series looks to provocatively consider the emergence (or reemergence?) of a figure claiming...

Can you really cancel something that was already kinda a miniseries in the first place and that didn't appear to have much potential for a sequel anyway? Apparently, "Yes." News spread on Friday (July 3) morning that NBC will not renew "A.D. The Bible Continues" for what wouldn't exactly be a second season, since "A.D." was already a sequel-of-sorts to History's "The Bible." This was already a bit of a foregone conclusion, but following this week's formal cancellation for "American Odyssey," that closes the book on all in-limbo (and not-really-in-limbo-at-all) shows for the 2014-2015 TV season. NBC has actually been doing a lot of housework over the past two weeks, severing ties with the not-yet-officially-cancelled "Hannibal" and renewing "Aquarius," a decision that looks even more bizarre after the summer drama did a woeful 0.4 rating among adults 18-49 on Thursday, exactly the woeful number that "American Odyssey" never fell below on Sunday nights.

NBC has decided not to continue A.D. The Bible Continues. The series opened to high expectations but was not an out-of-the-box ratings hit like History Channel's record-setting The Bible. From producers Mark Burnett and Roma Downey, the Universal Television drama is a rare miss for the mega-producers, and came in a season in which religious-themed fare, including CBS' Dovemakers mini, failed to lure live viewers. Fast National ratings for Sunday, June 14, 2015. The Golden State Warriors took control of the NBA Finals with a relatively comfortable Game 5 victory, as ABC remained in control of the primetime ratings race. With many viewers also basing their evenings around the "Game of Thrones" finale on HBO and whatnot, ABC's network competition barely made a ripple. Remember, as always, that this is time period data and not reflective of the ratings for the basketball game itself, especially with one of the teams hailing from the West Coast. The weekly TV ratings for Friday, June 5th through Thursday, June 12th are in; here are some of the highlights: On Saturday, an average of 18.5 million people tuned in to NBC to watch the Belmont Stakes, with that number growing to 22 million once it was time for the misspelled wonder American Pharoah to take to the track, winning the Triple Crown. [caption id="attachment_438075" align="alignright" width="350"] Image via NBC/caption] Sunday, NBC did not have such good luck, as A.D. ABC had a ratings victory though with its NBA coverage, including a 22 percent jump from last year’s Game 2 numbers, pulling a 7.1 rating and 18.8 million viewers. Fast National ratings for Sunday, June 7, 2015. For the first time in NBA history, the Finals started with consecutive overtime games and the showdown between the Cavaliers and Warriors produced a second consecutive primetime domination for ABC on Sunday night. ABC is estimating that this will be the highest-rated NBA Finals Game 2 ever on the network and posted 26 percent gains over last year's Game 2. These Fast National numbers, of course, reflect time period data and, as always, are extra imprecise when one of the competing teams has a fan homebase on the West Coast. Sunday night's other notable was CBS' broadcast of the 69th Tony Awards, which dipped from last year both overall and among young viewers, falling by 25 percent in the key demo. The weekend TV ratings for Friday, May 8th through Sunday, May 10th are in; here are some of the highlights: Friday night saw some dips for ABC's Shark Tank at 8 p.m. (down a tenth to a 1.5 rating in the key 18-49 demographic, and 6.58 million viewers) and its companion series Beyond the Tank at 9 p.m. (down two tenths to a 1.4 rating and 5.57 million viewers). Both series won their timeslots, though. NBC's Grimm was up a tenth from last week's series low to a 1.0 rating and 4.28 million viewers at 8 p.m. [caption id="attachment_443769" align="alignright" width="350"] Image via The CW/caption] The CW's recently cancelled series The Messengers was down to a diminutive 0.2 rating and 0.68 million viewers, who may not stick around now that they know the end is nigh. On Sunday, the 2-hour season finale of Once Upon a Time was even with last week's 1.7 rating and 5.42 million viewers at 8 p.m. on ABC.

Fast National ratings for Sunday, May 10, 2015. The latest season finale for "The Good Wife" helped CBS sweep Sunday primetime overall, while the season finale for "Once Upon a Time" and the series finale of "Revenge" pushed ABC to victory among young viewers. Meanwhile, NBC's "A.D. The Bible Continues" and "American Odyssey," two of the only shows remaining on the network TV bubble, did unimpressive numbers. Let's get to the numbers... Normally, the announcement of an official primetime schedule for the upcoming season offers final clarity on the fate of all existing shows, but that isn't the case for NBC's "American Odyssey" and "A.D. The Bible Continues." In the past couple days, NBC has gone through its 2014-2015 schedule dead-weight slashing and burning, saying farewell to dramas like "Constantine" and "State of Affairs" and canceling every existing comedy other than "Undateable." But NBC announced its 2015-2016 schedule on Sunday (May 10) morning and it included the notation that "The decision on the future of “A.D. The Bible Continues” and “American Odyssey” will come at a later date after their respective seasons have ended." It is theoretically true that everything NBC formally cancelled last week has ended its season, while "American Odyssey" and the punctuationally confusing "A.D. The Bible Continues" are still airing on Sunday. What, exactly, could "American Odyssey" do in...

The weekend TV ratings for Friday, April 24th through Sunday, April 26th are in; here are some of the highlights: The big winner on Friday night was ABC, whose Bruce Jenner interview pulled a massive 5.2 rating in the key 18-49 demographic, and a whopping 16.86 million viewers. If you couldn't tell from my other adjectives, that's huge. Back at 8 p.m. on Friday, Shark Tank was up two tenths to a 1.7 rating for ABC, while NBC's Grimm stayed steady in that hour with a 1.0 rating and 4.7 million viewers. On the CW, Cedric's Barber Battle bucked the trend of series losing numbers after their premieres by being up two tenths to a 0.4 rating and 1.36 million viewers. Their other new series, The Messengers, also bounced up a tenth to a 0.4 rating and 1.2 million viewers. On Saturday, NBC's Stanley Cup coverage was down a tenth to a 0.8 rating and 2.69 million viewers. [caption id="attachment_416894" align="alignright" width="350"] Image via ABC/caption] Sunday,...

There were big wins for Miranda Lambert and co-host Luke Bryan as well as performances by Garth Brooks and George Strait and a heartfelt presentation to Taylor Swift from her own mother last night at the 50th Academy Of Country Music Awards (3.6/11). Unlike last year, the show also wasn’t up against the season premiere of Game Of Thrones last night and it went an extra half hour for the first time. All of which saw the ACMs rise 9% among adults 18-49 over last year big fall from 2013. With 15.77 million watching the 8 -11:30 Pm ceremony, the ACMs gave CBS another type of win with a 10% rise in viewership from 2014 to hit its best audience result in 17 years.

I could say it’s not worth paying attention to The Voice coaches’ comments — which, expressed in paint colors, would range from Rose-Colored Glasses to Fawn(ing) Grey to Sugar-Coated.
But then you’d miss the subtle, sometimes hilarious subtext of Blake, Pharrell, Adam and especially Xtina when they deliberately avoid comments about actual singing — turning everything to pure comedy in the process. (Sample critique: Ms. Aguilera’s “You’ve got that girl-vote goin’ for ya” after mega-hot Corey Kent White hit maybe 60 percent of his notes at best while covering a Jason Aldean ditty.)

The Masters Tournament coverage on CBS will likely affect their ratings once again (as in these numbers are somewhat tentative, plus, their primetime programming was delayed). Fast National ratings for Sunday, April 5, 2015. NBC's "The Bible" sequel "A.D. The Bible Continues" delivered Sunday's best individual ratings, but "The Ten Commandments" still helped ABC score a slim Sunday win in the key demo, while CBS' dramas scored a slim victory overall. Because of the Easter holiday, all of CBS' originals are deemed "specials" within Nielsen semantics, which probably doesn't matter to you, but certainly matters to CBS, since "Madam Secretary" and "The Good Wife" tied series lows and "Battle Creek" hit a low. In addition to the decent launch for "A.D.," NBC also premiered "American Odyssey," which launched better than such early spring debacles as "The Slap" and "Allegiance," but launched lower than last spring's "Crisis" and suffered a decline at the half-hour. Let's get to the numbers... Among adults 18-49, ABC averaged a 1.4 rating for Sunday night, edging out NBC's 1.3 rating in the key demographic. CBS...

Let me start this off by saying this: I am far off from being the most religious person in the world. I was born almost as far down south as one can physically go in this country, but thanks to my parent’s laissez-faire attitude toward religion and church (god bless ‘em), the same belief system was instilled in me. I may believe in something, I may not, but first and foremost I don’t judge anyone who devoutly follows religion (thanks again, mom and dad) and subsequently may be looking forward to NBC’s A.D.
