One Justice League book gave readers a unique spin on the classic team and its high time DC Comics brought them back. The Justice League of China debuted in the DC "Rebirth" era title, New Super-Man, and gave fans a brand-new hero team based out of Shanghai.
The "Rebirth" initiative pumped new life into DC Comics by giving fans exciting new stories, one of which focused on a young man who got the opportunity of a lifetime after gaining Superman's powers. But New Super-Man was more than just 'DC heroes set in China'. It was a gripping story of heroism that deserves a second chance at life.

The biggest, glossiest album of Bruce Springsteen’s career, 1984’s Born in the U.S.A., has a shadowy, equally classic twin — the low-fi, solo-acoustic Nebraska, released two years earlier. The albums are inextricably linked, beginning with the fact that multiple Born in the U.S.A. tracks — the title song, “Downbound Train,” “Working on the Highway” (via an earlier song called “Child Bride”), and the B side “Pink Cadillac” — were originally part of the acoustic demo sessions that ultimately became Nebraska. The first sessions for Born in the U.

Through the power of cinema, audiences have long been treated to some of the best stories in fiction, through a diverse range of genres each dedicated to their tropes and themes. These movies follow a traditional structure of beginning, middle, and end, with each part playing a key role in determining how the story is perceived by audiences. For most stories, the opening sequence can be the make or break for how invested audiences get in the story.
The opening scene of any movie is vital in capturing the interest of audiences and establishing the tone of the story. After all, it is here where audiences get their main impression of the story and, quite often, its characters. These scenes should serve to explain what type of story is about to play out without giving away too much. For a scene to do a good job at setting up its...

It’s a well-known fact that Alan Moore isn’t the biggest fan of superheroes these days, yet there was a time when the legendary scribe seemed willing to return to Marvel Comics for one character in particular: none other than the Astonishing Ant-Man.
As recently revealed in his Substack newsletter Man With A Hat, Marvel Editor Tom Brevoort detailed how Alan Moore almost came back to Marvel Comics in the early 2000s. Moore began working with Brevoort following his contribution to the Heroes graphic novel, a landmark project created for charity in the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks. Not long after, Brevoort attempted to lure Moore into doing more work for Marvel Comics. Says Brevoort: “I did later make an attempt to convince Alan to write Fantastic Four, unsuccessfully—he did have an interest in doing Ant-man, though I was never quite certain whether we could sell it in sufficient...

In a recent interview with TooFab, the 47-year-old actor was quick to turn down the prospect of reuniting with his wife, Sarah Michelle Gellar, as well as Matthew Lillard and Linda Cardellini for a third film playing Mystery Incorporated.
“It wouldn’t be something I would do,” Prinze said. “I have zero interest. I mean, it was tricky. It wouldn’t be for me, man.”
The actor clarified that his thoughts on the matter come down to the studio, rather than the project itself. The first “Scooby-Doo” (2002) and its 2004 sequel, “Monsters Unleashed,” were both distributed by Warner Bros.
“There was just so much bait and switch on the first one,” Prinze continued. “The studio was not honest with me in any way, shape, or form… It wasn’t the best. I think I’ve been on two jobs...

July is the month that North America goes back to the movies in earnest. There have already been some theatrical release of note this summer, but as everyone knows the blockbuster movie season doesn’t get started until a Marvel movie premieres. Thankfully, with its list of new releases for July 2021, Disney+ is offering up some options for those who prefer to stay home.
In addition to arriving in theaters on July 9, Black Widow will premiere on Disney+ as well. Disney+ subscribers can purchase the first Marvel movie released since 2019 for $29.99. Judging by the early buzz, that “Premier Access” price may be worth it. This Killing Eve article contains spoilers through the Season 3 finale.
We don’t chiefly watch Killing Eve for the plot, but that doesn’t mean we’re not dying to find out exactly what the deal is with The Twelve, the mysterious organization that has sent Villanelle and other assassins around the world to commit a series of precision (or sometimes not) murders. With their hands in politics and commercial forces around the world, The Twelve’s influence is broad and terrifying. At this point, it’s unclear how much control they actually have, though we know that people who get in their way usually end up dead.
Season 3 has arguably made the most progress yet on uncovering the mystery of what exactly The Twelve is and who is involved. Here’s what we know so far…

Scoob! is now available to rent or buy on digital, and fans and families everywhere are tucking into the animated movie, which is actually the first big-budget Scooby-Doo film in 16 years. However, it’s not something that everyone’s celebrating, as many Mystery Incorporated lovers are furious at Warner Bros. for replacing the regular voice acting cast.
Will Forte (Shaggy), Zac Efron (Fred), Amanda Seyfried (Daphne) and Gina Rodriguez (Velma) play the characters in Scoob!, with only franchise veteran Frank Welker returning as Scooby from the regular actors who portray the gang in the animated TV series and direct-to-dvd movies.
For Shaggy star Matthew Lillard, in particular, it was pretty crushing not to be asked back for this production. In a Zoom interview with Entertainment Tonight’s Ash Crossan, the actor opened up on his disappointment about being replaced, and you can see what he had to say below:

When animated reboot Scoob! reaches theaters, it will be the first time in about 16 years that Mystery Incorporated have made the jump to the big screen. The first two times were the duo of live-action Scooby-Doo movies that released in 2002 and 2004, respectively. Scooby fans who grew up with the films remember them very fondly, in no small part due to the script from future Guardians of the Galaxy helmer James Gunn.
Unfortunately, Scooby-Doo: Monsters Unleashed didn’t earn enough at the box office to get a third installment greenlit. But if it had, Gunn would have been the one to direct it, taking over from Raja Gosnell, who did the first two. The filmmaker revealed this news during an Instagram Q&a over the weekend. When asked why Scooby-Doo 3 never happened, Gunn explained:
“I made a deal to write and direct #3 back in 2004 but the second one, although it did well,...

The search for Quentin Tarantino’s Charles Manson is over. The Wrap confirms the director has cast Australian actor Damon Herriman as the infamous serial killer in his ninth feature, “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.” The casting news arrives as Tarantino is already well into production on the 1969-set movie, which is shaping up to be his penultimate effort if he sticks to his plan to retire after ten movies.
“Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” stars Leonardo DiCaprio as a television actor trying to break into the film industry alongside his friends and stuntman, played by Brad Pitt. The characters live next door to Sharon Tate and Roman Polanski, played by Margot Robbie and Rafal Zawierucha. Tate and four others were murdered by members of the Manson Family cult on August 9, 1969.
Herriman is best known in the U.S. for playing Dewey Crowe on five seasons of the FX series “Justified.

Paramount Pictures is teaming up with Ben Affleck and Matt Damon through their Pearl Street Films production company to produce The Shadows, based on a true story set in their hometown of Boston. There is no indication that either actor will star in the film, and it seems they will both just be producing at this time. This news comes just days after Ben Affleck was accused of sexual misconduct, for groping actress Hilarie Burton while she was hosting MTV's Trl back in 2004. The actor later apologized for his actions.
The project comes from writer Chris Bremner, who took his pitch to Paramount, which the studio acquired, and now he will be writing the script. The story will be based on Matthew Pearl's Boston Globe Magazine article "Into the Shadows," which chronicles America's first ever undercover police officers, who were based in Affleck and Damon's hometown of Boston. Following the news that both Jamie Chung and Stephen Moyer have signed on to lead the cast of Fox’s new X-Men family drama, Deadline is now reporting that Sean Teale (Skins, Reign, Incorporated) has also joined the growing ensemble as a mutant character named Marcos Diaz, Aka Eclipse.
Whereas the previous child of the atom to be added to the cast (Chung’s Blink) is an established Marvel Comics hero, this guy has been created just for the show and is described as “a natural rebel compelled by circumstances to cooperate with others. He’s a passionate and strong-willed fighter who sometimes lets his emotions overrule reason.” Eclipse’s powers include the ability to absorb and manipulate photons, which actually sounds quite similar to Roberto Da Costa/Sunspot’s gift. Incorporated was quietly canceled on Syfy today.
The series about a future run by corporations giving them unlimited power and a man from a poor background (Sean Teale) who infiltrated their world in an attempt to save his childhood love.
Incorporated was pulling in about 500k viewers per week, well below series such as The Magicians and The Expanse.
Syfy has other series on tap, including Krypton and The Haunted and recently ordered two more seasons of its incredible horror anthology series Channel Zero.
If you've been waiting for CBS All Access' Star Trek: Discovery, prepare to wait a bit longer.
CBS Chief Les Moonves was at a business conference when he shared the news the upcoming Star Trek series would fly "sometime late summer early fall...probably."
Of course, it's not the first time we've been given a timeline for the new series, but perhaps this will the winner.

Finally, finally, finally a Laura centric episode! And it was well worth the wait.
It took slogging through a morass of tedium, but on Incorporated Season 1 Episode 6 we finally got to see what happened to Laura eight years ago, and how it started her downward spiral of self destruction.
I've made it very clear that the only character that means a damn to me on this show is Laura. She has a heart, a soul, and actual Feelings, which is very hard to come by in this world.
The fact that she is being used by Ben is heartbreaking, because for some reason she really loves that louse.
Ben is such a stone cold schemer, and to use another human being the way he uses Laura is reprehensible.
I mean, using birth control behind Laura's back, when you know that all she wants in the whole world is a baby?...

Even in the future, you have to pay the cost to be the boss.
That's the gist of Incorporated Season 1 Episode 4, which is, unfortunately, another snore-fest (Sigh).
Every character faces a choice, either in flashbacks or present day, and must decide if they are willing to pay the price to get what they want.
The problem, just like in all the previous episodes, is that I just don't care about the characters enough to give a damn about what decisions they make.
The brave new world angle about baby gestators and choosing every genetic trait of your child is supposed to be chilling I guess, but everyone on the show acts like they are choosing an emoji to insert into an Im, not all aspects of a human being.
We are not having a clone of me. Don't you want the baby to look like you at all?

Blah, blah, blah, blah.
We're only up to Incorporated Season 1 Episode 2, and watching it is already a slog.
The same problems that plagued Incorporated Season 1 Episode 1 are abundant in this episode, as well.
Flat, unlikable characters, a plot that has a "been there, done that" feel and just an overall paint-by-numbers world.
The attempt at a back story for Ben/Aaron was very ordinary, only reinforcing what we already know: that he knew his love Elena from his Red Zone days.
The thing about this show is that they drop in some little nuggets that are reasonably clever, such as lines like this:
What's going on downstairs is just the tip of the iceberg. Do you know that expression? It's from when I was a kid.

An upcoming episode of Syfy’s future-set drama “Incorporated” begins with this: a carbon copy of the sort of starving children ads that Sally Struthers used to host in the 1990s. There’s a wistful little boy staring at the camera as he strokes his battered stuffed toy and a pleading, pitying narrator explaining how he and other children like him go days without food or clean water.
Here’s the twist: The little boy’s name is Johnny, and the narrator is speaking Chinese. For 100 yuan a day, generous Chinese souls can help the children of a broken America in the year 2073. Watching that cold open at this exact moment in our history is science fiction that might be a little too real. You can forget about “The Walking Dead” or “The Exorcist”: “Incorporated” may be the scariest show on television.

Stop me if you've heard this one before: In a world where evil corporations rule a future dystopian Earth, an ordinary man fights to find the one he loves against insurmountable odds!
Yeah, sounds Very familiar. That basically sums up Incorporated Season 1 Episode 1, and that's not a good thing.
The "Evil Corporation" trope is tired and worn out, but it keeps cropping up like a bad penny. From Rollerball, Soylent Green, Robocop, the Alien films, Elysium, and Snowpiercer, the list goes on and on.
Sci fi has always been, at it's best, a drastic take on our societal fears, going all the way back to the 1950's nuke mutated bug movies to today's fear of technology shows like Black Mirror.

Three episodes were provided prior to broadcast.
It’s somewhere around the explanation of Incorporated‘s bifurcated future world, wherein unemployed urchins rule the slums and sleek worker bees look down their noses from glossy high-rises, that Syfy’s new show peaks creatively. The vision echoes the futures of plenty of other sci-fi works (weirdly, I was reminded of the Ethan Hawke, us-vs-them vampire flick Daybreakers), but it has undeniably interesting ideas of its own.
Unfortunately, that exact moment where the show peaks creatively is in an opening credits scroll; the subsequent story navigating us through Incorporated‘s potentially bountiful near-future is sluggish and, as far as duplicitous business thrillers go, inert. Incorporated falls further along the high-quality end of the Syfy spectrum than, say, Aftermath or Hunters, but it’s far short of the network’s current best: The Expanse and The Magicians.
