Multiple complex interwoven plot lines, vivid characters, an exhibition of the various vices... what more could you ask for in a colourful Kiwi TV show? The occasional moment of duff acting doesn't put a dent in a very entertaining journey. Great work from writers, directors, actors and the rest.
wow what can i say , I'm excited . After The Almighty Johnsons I've been looking for a Kiwi gem to balance out my weekly viewing , I think i might have just found it . So far so good . just watched episode 1 and cant wait for more. As a prequel to Outrageous Fortune we get to know Theodore aka Ted as a safe cracker in his younger years , with Anotoinette Prebble playing his wife. This show is quirky ,( Of course it's from new Zealand) with some pretty clever writing .and having grown up in New Zealand ,this show definitely captures the look and feel of the country i grew up in. Characters are engaging and have certainly left me with a desire to get to know them more as time goes on. Lovers of outrageous fortune will definitely enjoy this hope it keeps up .
I like this so much. Near history, '79-87 from down under perspective and great ensemble characters (Rita and Ted particularly). Easy to enjoy but you might bring up subtitles because of accents. 3 seasons now on Prime, 3 more to come. Terrific use of regional pop music. I think its better than Outrageous Fortune.
With all the mention of 1980's New Zealand References, plus over the top acting from Anotoinette Prebble (Rita West) its not really my thing, but either was Outragous Fortune, for viewing time, it fill in an hour or two just,
I absolutely love New Zealand tv shows! Antonia Prebble is a tremendous actress! Outrageous Fortune was fantastic and Westside knocks it out of the park. I wish American streaming services would give us more New Zealand and Australian shows, I just can't get enough of them. Peacock needs to get season 6 up for viewing.
