Tough break. After 15 years in director’s jail, “Wonderland” helmer James Cox resurfaces with another smarmy true-crime drama, “Billionaire Boys Club,” this one about a bunch of Los Angeles investment scammers who wound up whacking a couple of their associates when their Ponzi scheme started to go south, only to have the film implode in the wake of #MeToo allegations against co-star Kevin Spacey. This one quietly debuted via VOD on July 17, where there was presumably little demand, followed by a small theatrical release a month later.

Granted, it doesn’t help that “Billionaire Boys Club” was horrible to begin with, the kind of dumbed-down, West Coast, wanna-be “The Wolf of Wall Street” that gives “derivatives trading” a whole new meaning. But the irony of the film’s inevitable failure is that Spacey — who delivers one of his great egomaniacal scenery-chewing performances — took the risk of playing a character dangerously...

Catt Sadler is leaving E! News.

People has confirmed that the longtime E! anchor, who has been with the network for more than a decade, will be saying goodbye to the entertainment news program.

“We wish Catt Sadler all the best in her endeavors following her decision to leave E! News,” an E! spokesperson told People on Monday. “We will miss having Catt on set and appreciate her many contributions.”

In 2006, Sadler, 43, was hired as host of The Daily 10; years later she was later named anchor of E! News. Additionally, Sadler hosts Live from E! and E!’s Daily Pop.

Khloe Kardashian is loving her new living arrangement.

On Tuesday, the mom-to-be shared on her app that when she and boyfriend Tristan Thompson decided to move in together, they made one major change to their homes that helped them feel more comfortable.

Thompson spends half his year in Cleveland, Ohio, when playing for the Cavaliers, and Kardashian has also relocated to the city to spend time with her guy.

"Moving into your significant other's home is a huge step in a relationship," the 33-year-old reality star writes. "Fortunately, Tristan and I have very similar decor tastes, so it was easy to merge. But we did a few rooms together and switched up the color schemes. That was really fun!"

The eyes of much of the world Friday were on the FIFA World Cup draw held in Moscow, Russia, but those watching Fox Sports’ live broadcast of on the West coast were a little bleary-eyed: the show kicked off at 6:30 a.m. local time. And with the United States missing out on its first World Cup in more than 30 years, the mood going in was a little different this year. Stars and Stripes fans weren’t gathered at bars across the country waiting to see who they’d take on in the world’s biggest sporting event. Many of them probably wanted.

Meghan Markle was stunning even before she made it in Hollywood and ultimately got engaged to Prince Harry.

The proof comes from the 36-year-old actress' 1999 yearbook from Immaculate Heart High School in Los Angeles, California.

In her class photo, Markle is seen in her school uniform with her brunette hair worn down as she gives a grin for the cameras. Harry and Meghan confirmed their engagement in a statement released from Kensington Palace on Monday.

“His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales is delighted to announce the engagement of Prince Harry to Ms. Meghan Markle. The wedding will take place in Spring 2018. Further details about the wedding day will be announced in due course," reads the announcement. "His Royal Highness and Ms. Markle became engaged in London earlier this month. Prince Harry has informed Her Majesty The Queen and other close members of his family. Prince Harry Has also sought and received the blessing of Ms. Markle’s parents.”

Irish-British writer/director Martin McDonagh has gained cult followings both in the theater world, for plays like The Beauty Queen of Leenane and The Cripple of Inishmaan, and among cinephiles, thanks to the Academy-Award-winning short Six Shooter and In Bruges. His work on both stage and screen stands out for its grounded approach to absurd situations, as well as his nuanced treatment of deeply flawed characters.

McDonagh’s newest film is Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, featuring Frances McDormand as a woman who goes to war against her small town’s police department over her daughter’s unsolved murder. We sat down with him to speak about the film and his idiosyncratic writing process.

The Critics’ Choice Documentary Awards returned to Brooklyn’s Bric on Nov. 2 and anointed Brett Morgen’s “Jane” the Oscar frontrunner for Best Documentary Feature. That bodes well for the Jane Goodall profile as it continues its awards season run. Presented by the Broadcast Film Critics Association and the Broadcast Television Journalists Association, the inaugural ceremony last year correctly augured that “O.J.: Made in America” and “13th” would win that season’s top documentary film and television prizes.

When the 2017 nominees were unveiled this October, so was a rule change that merged the Best Documentary categories for films released in theaters versus via television or a streaming platform. Last week, “The Crown” revealed that its third season of the royal drama would be jumping forward a few decades in time, and as a result recasting its leads, with the role of Queen Elizabeth II now passing from Claire Foy to Olivia Colman. This inspired the thought — what if “Stranger Things” (a period drama in its own way) pulled a similar move at some point during its run, jumping forward to something close to the modern day? Warner Bros.' Blade Runner 2049 was already in some serious trouble at the box office, with a disappointing opening weekend of $32.7 million. The movie has only earned $81.3 million domestic so far, although it has fared a bit better internationally with $142 million, but its last hope for box office redemption may have come and gone already, since the movie is looking to bomb in the second biggest box office market, China. It seems that the sequel will underperform in that market as well.

A new report from Forbes reveals that the Blade Runner sequel earned just $2.4 million in its opening day in China on Friday, with a projected Chinese opening weekend between $7 million and $9 million. This means that Blade Runner 2049 will likely not reach the $250 million worldwide mrk, although there is still a chance it could hit $225 million. At this point during the prime fall awards season (“Moonlight” opened one year ago), the arthouse box office should be humming along. It’s not. This weekend, Yorgos Lanthimos’ “The Killing of a Sacred Deer” (A24) and the documentary “Jane” (National Geographic/Abramorama) showed credible initial results, while the anticipated opening of Todd Haynes’ “Wonderstruck” (Roadside Attractions) fell shy of expectations.

These three films are catching attention ahead of a glut of upcoming biopics, which can be hit or miss. While “Victoria & Abdul” (Focus) continues to be the biggest success of the season so far, and “Loving Vincent” (Good Deed) is an arthouse sleeper, middling performer “Battle of the Sexes” (Fox Searchlight) failed to reach hoped-for heights. Fans of the Harry Potter franchise are thrilled to know that the real-life Hogwarts Express rescued a family who were stranded in a remote area of the Scottish Highlands in Scotland after their canoe was swept away. The BBC reports that Mr. and Mrs. Jon and Helen Cluett and their four children, ranging from 6 to 12-years old, were faced with the prospect of walking three miles in a bog with young children when their canoe floated away during a freak flash flood overnight. So, their father Jon used his magical wand/cellphone, called the mountain rescue, and The Jacobite, also known as the Hogwarts Express, showed up to rescue them. The Hogwarts Express saved the family from the selkies and grindylows and other horrors that may dwell in large pools of the Scottish water.

The family stayed in a small hut before contacting police late last week, who then alerted the coastguard.

It took a move from the West Coast to the Midwest, but three orphaned cougar cubs now have a home.

The furry females arrived at the Toledo Zoo on Saturday night, following a long trip from the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, reports the Toledo Blade.

Keepers from the zoo went out west to pick up the animals and transport them back. The trio is currently at the facility’s hospital, adjusting to their new home and maybe a little bit of jet lag.

The staff at the zoo know little about what orphaned the cubs, but were told a human-wildlife conflict was involved.
