One of the biggest storylines in Marvel Comics in 2021 saw Spider-Man battling the demonic villain Kindred. It was revealed toward the end of the battle that this demon was working with Mephisto to take down Spider-Man and it brought the horrors of people making a deal with Marvel's devil back to the forefront.

The demon Mephisto first showed what making a deal with him looked like when he took the soul of Johnny Blaze and brought Ghost Rider to Earth. It seems almost surprising to see how many heroes and villains have made a deal with the devil, and these always ended up backfiring on the heroes, although some actually took it to Mephisto in the end.

Even though Chloé Zhao has gone out of her way to explain how much of a comic book nerd she actually is, when it was announced that the Oscar-winning filmmaker was going to helm Marvel Studios’ massive blockbuster, “Eternals,” film fans were confused. The Recording Academy announced Wednesday the introduction of an inclusion rider for production on the 2022 Grammy Awards telecast, a step to ensure that the production staff on the ceremony will be diverse at all levels of the show’s production.
The inclusion rider, which generally offers provisions to insure that a film or TV production’s hiring of cast and crew will be equal and diverse and draw from a wider pool, is in development now between the Recording Academy and Color of Change and is part of the Recording Academy’s larger #ChangeMusic campaign.
The rider will be an agreement between the Recording Academy and the production company for the Grammys, which will become the first major awards show to implement one. It will require the production company to audition, recruit and hire from a diverse pool for both onstage and offstage talent who have been historically and systematically excluded from the industry.

Norman Reedus is Johnny Blaze in a new piece of Ghost Rider fan art, leading to some fans wondering why this casting hasn't actually happened yet. Of course, Reedus is best known for his fan favorite role as zombie slayer Daryl Dixon on The Walking Dead, a role he's been playing since the very start of the series in 2010. He'll reprise in a spinoff when the show ends next year, but that doesn't mean he isn't open to appearing in other major franchises.
In the past, Norman Reedus has named Ghost Rider as a comic book character he would love to play. It's a potential casting that makes a ton of sense, given Reedus' unique look along with his love for motorcycles. He hasn't given up hope on playing the fiery superhero in a new movie or TV series for Marvel and is only waiting on someone in charge over...

What has always made the Ghost Rider comics series successful is its desire to add to the history of the character, regardless of who holds the mantle. The series can be read as one large epic, following the flame-headed biker across America as he searches for peace and forgiveness. But many have stepped between Ghost Rider during his journey through time.

Kamen Rider may not have the international recognition of Godzilla — yet. But Toei, whose first “Kamen Rider” live-action TV series aired in 1971, has announced an ambitious project for raising the profile of its motorbike-riding, insect-faced cyborg hero both at home and abroad on the franchise’s 50th anniversary.
Unveiled in April at a splashy live press conference in Tokyo, the project is headlined by a new film, “Shin Kamen Rider,” directed by Anno Hideaki, the creator of the Evangelion sci-fi franchise and the scriptwriter and co-director of the 2016 smash “Shin Godzilla.” Details about the film, including story and casting, are still sparse, though Toei has penciled in a March 2023 release date.

It is hard to know where to begin and what to say first when it comes to Dennis Hopper, both on screen and off. As an actor he began in the late 50s with small roles in films like Rebel Without A Cause (1955) and numerous TV performances. James Dean was a hero and friend to Hopper. A great way to view Rebel Without A Cause is to watch Hopper’s intense studying of and admiration for Dean on screen in that film. Hopper was witness to so many periods of American culture, a complex masculine figure much like his friend and contemporary Harry Dean Stanton, the whiskey, cigarettes and American highway mythology follows his legacy. This mix scratches the surface of an iconic figure of 20th-century popular culture and a great artist, it is a time capsule with no linear trajectory, bending back and forth across genre and feeling.Coming...

The classic mecha-action-cross-psychological-horror anime Neon Genesis Evangelion has a reputation as being a weird sort of show, and it's hard to argue that reputation isn't fully deserved. While it starts out as what seems like a fairly conventional mecha anime, it quickly shows its true colors as a surrealist dive into the nature of being and belonging itself.

That doesn't mean that there aren't any monsters to fight, though. Referred to as "Angels" by the cast of the anime, these mysterious and malevolent beings hail from an unknown place and pursue unknown goals; it's only known that, should they succeed in their ambitions, it would spell disaster for mankind. Fittingly for Evangelion, the physical appearance of many of these Angels is as bizarre as the show itself.

Following the announcement of several new Kamen Rider projects for its 50th anniversary, one of the most notable ones is Shin Kamen Rider. A film reboot that focuses on the original Kamen Rider series. Along the same vein as Shin Godzilla and Shin Ultra Man, the project is helmed by Hideaki Anno. The same creator is responsible for the Neon Genesis Evangelion series. His reinvention of the classic tokusatsu show has garnered interest with fans, but despite this, there are elements about the franchise that is hopefully maintained in the remake.

This article contains The Falcon and the Winter Soldier spoilers.
We still don’t know how much of an antagonist John Walker – the new Captain America – will be on The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. So far, Wyatt Russell’s Walker seems like a guy trying to do the right thing, and a decent enough fella, although his final interaction with Sam and Bucky at the end of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier episode 2 hints at a darker side. Still, he isn’t what we would exactly call a villain
And while we do know that Helmut Zemo will be popping up in the next episode, right now the biggest threat is the Flag-Smashers, a terrorist group who feel that Earth was better in-between Thanos snapping out half of the population and Hulk snapping them back in. The existence of a pro-Thanos terrorist group does make me wonder if...

It’s about time. For the first time in its nearly hundred-year history, the Oscars have nominated a pair of female filmmakers in its Best Director category, with both Chloé Zhao and Emerald Fennell earning nominations for their films “Nomadland” and “Promising Young Woman,” respectively. Both filmmakers also received screenplay nominations for their films, and each feature landed on the list of eight nominees for Best Picture.
In the Academy Awards’ 93-year history, only five women have ever been nominated for Best Director: Lina Wertmüller (1976′s “Seven Beauties”), Jane Campion (1993′s “The Piano”), Sofia Coppola (2003′s “Lost in Translation”), Kathryn Bigelow (2009′s “The Hurt Locker”), and Greta Gerwig (2017′s “Lady Bird”). This year marks the first time the Academy handed out nominations to not just one woman in the category, but two. Zhao also becomes the first woman of Asian descent to pick up the nom.

Modern reinterpretations of popular 1980s properties have been big business for some time, but one that has so far remained practically untouched is the action crime series Knight Rider. That is all set to change thanks to Aquaman's James Wan, who recently came on board to produce a big screen adventure for titular hero Michael Knight and his assistant, the self-aware, talking automobile, Kitt. Now, original star David Hasselhoff has made his feelings known regarding the upcoming reboot, as well as revealing that he has been trying to bring Knight Rider to theaters for the last decade.

November can be a slow month for streaming services. Amazon, however, is entering into 2020’s penultimate month with some steam.
Amazon is really beefing up its TV library in November 2020. Both Community (which arrives on Nov. 8) and Scrubs (Nov. 14) will be added to Amazon Prime this month and in the process complete the streaming trifecta: Netflix, Amazon, Hulu. That’s pretty impressive stuff for both shows. And then on the film side of things, November 1 sees the arrival of The X-Files: I Want to Believe, Twilight, and the Underworld franchise. Somebody didn’t tell Amazon Spooky Season was over and bless them for it.
As for the originals, Alex Rider is the most intriguing TV series here. That is based on the British spy novel series and premieres on Nov. 13 on IMDb TV (which is available to all Prime subscribers). That will be followed by Steve McQueen’s Small Axe series on Nov.

Spoiler Alert: Do not read if you have not yet watched “Sarah Cooper: Everything’s Fine,” now streaming on Netflix.
When faced with an impossible challenge, some assemble a team of superheroes to get it done. But when Natasha Lyonne and Maya Rudolph took on the challenge of producing the Netflix special “Sarah Cooper: Everything’s Fine,” they assembled the Avengers, plus a queen — Dame Helen Mirren.
“It seems that Helen Mirren might have the greatest sense of humor in all of showbiz. I’m guessing something about being a legend of that size puts everything in the correct perspective,” Lyonne tells Variety of landing Mirren for a cameo in the comedy film.
Though it’s not quite clear how many of Cooper’s viral Trump lip-synching TikTok videos Mirren saw before joining the project, it seems that the Oscar winner was a bit of a “super fan,” saying yes...

Moon Knight has the potential to be something pretty special. The upcoming Disney Plus show will focus on one of the more obscure and interesting Marvel characters, one who’s often said to be the company’s equivalent of Batman. Then again, while Moon Knight is a fairly grounded hero, there are also a number of supernatural aspects to his story, which make him stand out and give him a unique edge.
To date, there seemingly hasn’t been a whole lot of movement on the aforementioned series, but it certainly appears as if things are about to pick up steam as the casting process is now underway. Or at least, that’s according to The Illuminerdi, who’ve shared today that none other than Keanu Reeves is being eyed for the title role in the show.

“Mulan! Take control of yourself!” These shouts greet young Mulan as she runs and leaps across her village, attempting to catch a wayward chicken. Set during the time of China’s Han Dynasty, Disney’s live-action adaptation of the animated favorite Mulan is, in many ways, a film about characters attempting to control gender roles, internal conflict, and even warfare. Control, of course, is an element completely lost as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, and the world of cinema is no exception. Disney realized this after moving the film from its original July release date to another in August, and then, finally, to its Disney+ streaming service.
While watching Mulan at home, it is almost impossible not to wonder what the experience would have been like on the big screen. An ambitious, large-scale epic directed by Whale Rider’s Niki Caro, Mulan is without question a well-made success. Yet...

Continuing my trawl of picking up books I haven’t checked in on in a long while, I have found myself with issue 33 of The Avengers. Couple of reasons I chose this. One, I’ve loved The Avengers for over 40 years now, having a near complete run from the late 1970’s to the late 1980’s, The Avengers heyday. Two, it both features Moon Knight, a character I’ve a lot of time for, and seems to be the beginning of a major storyline revolving around Moon Knight, The Age of Khonshu. Looks promising. One quick observation though. Like at least a few other readers I’m guessing, I’ve been out of the loop on this book, so have no idea on current members, recent events etc. It would have been helpful to give a decent text piece...

Marvel Studios have had the rights to Ghost Rider since 2013, but they’ve seemingly had little interest in rebooting the character as part of the McU. The Robbie Reyes version showed up in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 4, with star Gabriel Luna initially set to return to the role in a spinoff show on Hulu, but that got the axe last year.
Still, the rumor mill surrounding the beloved antihero has been running at full speed, especially following the news that Keanu Reeves might be in talks to play the character. Kevin Feige has already told fans that the studio speaks to the actor for just about every project that they make, and Reeves’ screen persona makes him the perfect choice to bring the McU’s Ghost Rider to life.

This spoiler-free Alex Rider review is based on episodes 1-4.
For UK kids born after 1990, and parents and teachers of the same, Anthony Horowitz’s bestselling Alex Rider books need no introduction. School libraries keep multiple spine-cracked, Sellotape-repaired copies. ‘Stormbreaker’ posters decorate classroom walls, and in schools around the country, tie-in ‘Scorpia’ key stage worksheets are photocopied by the hundredweight. Booksellers asked by customers how to entice a young, reluctant, usually male reader into fiction don’t even wait for the question to end before plucking an Alex Rider off their shelves. When Harry Potter has done all he can, reach for Alex.
For everybody else, the Rider books tell the phenomenally popular story of a 14-year-old London schoolboy recruited by MI6 as a spy. Armed with comically age-appropriate gadgets including metal-dissolving acne cream, a grappling hook disguised as a yo-yo, and a Sony Discman that turns into a circular saw,...

It’s no secret at this point that Marvel has been trying to get Keanu Reeves in the McU for some time now. Studio president Kevin Feige has even admitted that they talk to him for almost every new project that they have. Diversity-focused nonprofit Gold House is launching an entertainment advisory council made up of industry leaders and a Golden Rider initiative to incentivize diverse representation in film, starting with the Asian diaspora. Both the council and rider are through the organization’s #GoldOpen venture, which supports the opening weekends of multicultural films.
The council — whose members include Albert Cheng, Abhijay Prakash, Kim Yutani (Sundance Film Festival) and Franklin Leonard (The Black List) — will advise on which films will receive #GoldOpen support in the form of theater buyouts for screenings, social media and press campaigns and global distribution opportunities. Movies that have received such support since the venture’s inception in 2017 include “Crazy Rich Asians,” “Parasite” and “Just Mercy.”
In an announcement, the organization stated that #GoldOpen films will need to sign the Golden Rider, an educational agreement that acknowledges the significance of multicultural audiences.

If you're a fan of Jon Bernthal (The Walking Dead, The Punisher) I've got a trailer for a new film of his that you've gotta check out. It's called Sweet Virginia and it looks like a wickedly intense and brutal thriller. The movie also stars Christopher Abbott (Girls), Imogen Poots (Green Room), and Rosemarie Dewitt (Poltergeist).
The movie follows two outsider-type strangers that start up a friendship that seems to go very bad as a wave of violence in the community in which they reside begins. It looks like Bernthal gives an incredible performance and I'll definitely be checking the movie out!

A zombie film set on the battleground of World War I? That sounds like the kind of movie I'd enjoy! Today we have a trailer for a film called Trench 11 that centers around that setting and it actually looks a lot better than I was expecting and I'm excited to watch it. Trench 11 could end up being a really fun flick! Here's the synopsis:
In the final days of Wwi a shell-shocked tunneller must lead an Allied team into a hidden German base...100 hundred feet below the trenches. The Germans have lost control of a highly contagious biological weapon that turns its victims into deranged killers. The Allies find themselves trapped underground with hordes of the infected, a rapidly spreading disease and a team of German Stormtroopers dispatched to clean up the mess. The only thing more terrifying than the Western Front... is what lies beneath it.
