Progress is moving along swiftly on the fourth installment of the Meet the Parents movie series. A director for the project has been revealed, and it looks to be good news for fans of the films.

Per Deadline, John Hamburg is now set to direct Meet the Parents 4. Hamburg has experience with the franchise after previously working as a co-writer for the three previous Meet the Parents films, which include the 2000 original, 2004's Meet the Fockers, and 2010's Little Fockers. An official title has not yet been announced for the fourth movie, but it will likely follow a similar theme as the previous titles.

Exclusive: Momentum on the next installment in the Meet the Parents franchise is building as sources tell Deadline that John Hamburg is set to direct the fourth film in the Universal series. As Deadline first reported, the original cast that includes Robert De Niro, Ben Stiller, Teri Polo and Blythe Danner are returning to star, with Hamburg, who had co-written the three other Meet the Parents movies, penning this script as well.

Plot details are being kept inside the circle of trust. Jane Rosenthal and Robert De Niro will produce through Tribeca Productions. Jay Roach will produce through Delirious Media. Ben Stiller and John Lesher will produce through Red Hour Films. Hamburg will produce through Particular Pictures.

Max has revealed the full list of featured programming coming to the streaming service in March 2025. Among the highlights are the arrival of a trio of A24 films: Heretic, the psychological horror film in which Hugh Grant terrorizes two missionaries who knock on his door; Sing Sing, the acclaimed drama about a group of incarcerated men who put on their own theatrical production; and Queer, Luca Guadagnino’s adaption of the William S. Burroughs’ novella of the same name.

This month will also see the premiere of the final season of The Righteous Gemstones, a new documentary on the Boston Celtics, titled, Celtics City, and the premiere of Paul American, a new reality series starring Jake and Logan Paul.

It's always a little puzzling when the most random movies become a success on streaming. In most cases, they didn't do big business in theaters, or were a modest success but ultimately forgotten because they didn't leave a lasting impression. The latest random movie to find success on streaming is the 2016 comedy Why Him?, which stars James Franco, who was one of the biggest actors of his generation until he was ostracized following a series of sexual misconduct allegations. Franco isn't experiencing a resurgence right now, so why would a comedy from 2016 be seeing a renewed interest on Hulu? As it turns out, it might be because of a cameo from a certain tech-billionaire who is now very active in American politics.

Why Him? focuses on a father, played by Bryan Cranston, who will stop at nothing to prevent his daughter's boyfriend Laird Mayhew (Franco), an immature tech millionaire, from asking her to marry him.

James Franco and Bryan Cranston's 2016 comedy Why Him? has found fresh popularity on streaming, despite its lowly Rotten Tomatoes score. Directed and co-written by Me Time's John Hamburg, the movie tells the story of a father who tries to stop his daughter's immature millionaire boyfriend from proposing to her. Featuring a cast that also includes Megan Mullally, Zoey Deutch, Griffin Gluck, and Keegan-Michael Key, the movie was a box office success, grossing almost $120 million against a production budget of $52 million, despite largely negative critical reviews.

Now, despite the movie's low Rotten Tomatoes score, and negative critical reception, it is enjoying new-found success on the streaming platform, Hulu. The site has Why Him? ranked at the No. 1 spot on its list of Top 15 Movies Today, for Friday, November 8, though which it achieved by beating out the rest of the top five, which includes successful movies such as the original Madagascar movie at No.

An Adam Sandler franchise has taken over a major streaming chart. Sandler is a well-known comic actor who first rose to prominence as a Saturday Night Live cast member. His tenure lasted from 1990 to 1995 and included iconic sketches such as "Opera Man" and "Pepper Boy." Over the course of his career, he has so far been nominated for five Emmys, four of which were for performances on SNL, and one Golden Globe.

Many Adam Sandler movies have been financially successful in spite of earning dismal scores on Rotten Tomatoes. This includes Click ($237.7 million with a 34% score), Just Go with It ($214 million with 19%), 50 First Dates ($198.5 million with 45%) and Big Daddy ($234.8 million with 39%). However, he has also appeared in well-respected dramas such as Uncut Gems (91%) and Punch-Drunk Love (79%), the latter of which earned him his Golden Globe nomination, as well as better-received comedies like The Wedding Singer (72%).

Bryan Cranston has had praise heaped upon him by his Asteroid City co-star Jason Schwartzman and director Wes Anderson. The upcoming film, which premieres on June 16, is an ensemble comedy following a small town's Junior Stargazer convention that just might be visited by aliens. Me Time brings a type of buddy comedy to Netflix that theatrical audiences haven’t gotten to experience as much in recent years, and the film is courtesy of a writer and director who knows quite a bit about the genre’s glory era.

The movie, currently streaming, stars Kevin Hart as Sonny Fisher, a musician and stay-at-home dad who manages to find some coveted time away from breadwinner-wife Maya (Regina Hall) and their kids by joining carefree pal Huck (Mark Wahlberg) on a hedonistic weekend adventure that quickly goes awry. Kaley Cuoco has booked her first movie role following the conclusion of “The Big Bang Theory” — she is joining Kevin Hart and Woody Harrelson in Sony’s comedy “Man From Toronto,” an individual with knowledge of the deal told TheWrap.

Patrick Hughes is directing the film, which was written by Robbie Fox and Chris Bremner, from a story by Fox and Jason Blumenthal. Sony is planning to release the comedy on Sept. 17, 2021.

Todd Black, Blumenthal and Steve Tisch are producing, while Bill Bannerman is executive producing. Harrelson replaced Jason Statham in March, after Statham left the film over creative differences just weeks before production was expected to begin.

“Will & Grace” actress Megan Mullally has been selected as the host the 25th edition of the SAG Awards on Jan. 27 at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.

Kristen Bell performed the emcee duties this year as the first-ever host of the ceremonies.

Mullally won two Primetime Emmy Awards for supporting actress in a comedy series in 2000 and 2006, along with four SAG Awards for her role as Karen Walker in “Will & Grace.”

I’ve never felt so fully attuned to a young actor than I have to Timmy Chalamet, who – even before breakthroughs in “Lady Bird” and “Call Me By Your Name” – was impressive as hell in smaller projects like “Homeland” and “Miss Stevens.” I knew right away that he was insanely and specifically talented, could recognize that raw talent, and can’t wait to see it flourish beyond his current constraints.

Currently, comScore is reporting 2016 at $11.488B; we’ve heard slightly lower at $11.3B, but it’s an all-time high nonetheless. New Year’s weekend, led by Disney/Lucasfilm’s Rogue One: A Star Wars Story with an estimated $63.6M, will ring in $240M in ticket sales, a great 9% hike over last year’s holiday stretch.

Yesterday most films in the top 11 saw on average a boost over New Year’s Eve of close to 19%, a great day to go to the movies considering most people don’t have to return to work until Tuesday. Today, Monday ticket sales for the top 10 should ease between 10%-15%.

A trio of movies is opening nationwide Wednesday in advance of the long holiday weekend — space romance Passengers, animated tentpole Sing and video game adaptation Assassin's Creed — followed by R-rated comedy Why Him? on Friday. Twentieth Century Fox, one of the second to last studios to present today, just went out with a bang, with James Cameron coming on stage to announce four Avatar sequels (vs. the previous three), confirmation of Deadpool 2 going forward and the fact that in 2017, Hugh Jackman’s Greatest Showman on Earth was a go for 2017. Mike Fleming broke news a couple of years ago about Jackman and Showman. We’ve been hearing that financing was still coming together, however, it was a title card in Fox’s final 2017 lineup.

This morning’s presentation didn’t start with opening remarks by domestic distribution president, Chris Aronson, rather Vanilla Ice, who rapped his hit single “Ice Baby” to an Ice Age sizzle reel with a femme dance crew behind him. Aronson then came on stage, decked in a big pompadour wig and a glitzy Vegas satin get-up that would be the envy of Elvis Presley.
