It's not hard to imagine how big this movie will be. I, as well as many others, am a huge fan of the first film and the short films that followed it. Frozen II has a different feel to it. While the first film was brimming with quirky moments, the follow up feels a little more mature in its plot and themes. This story heavily centers around the importance of change, even if that means letting go. Throughout the film, I found myself dazzled with the quality and beauty of the visuals that the animation team laid out. The story, for me, felt a little flat, however. I think the writing team missed the mark when trying to achieve the same quirkiness from the original. With the more dramatic path the writers chose to take, also came more epic musical numbers and effects. Sure there were still plenty of humorous moments, but I personally felt myself longing for more. I also find irony in the fact that this film centers around change and the overall feel of the film felt like a major shift from the first. I do think this film will still appeal to many others and I, myself, am still very excited to watch it a second time. Overall, I'd say this film found success in what it was trying to achieve and the message it was trying to send to its viewers, but couldn't quite live up to the whimsicality of the original. While not as good as the first, it's still a film you will want to take your family to and is a great addition to the Frozen franchise. 7/10

Frozen II felt unsatisfying. There was lots of build up to a very short climax that felt way too easy and simple. I kept expecting another adventure which never came. The film feels short and unfinished. That said, the animation is absolutely gorgeous and I did find the film quite funny. If you go into this with low expectations I think you'll enjoy yourself.

The animation in Frozen II is stunning. The level of detail and flow is a triumph. The story, however, is preachy and forced. Anna is annoyingly controlling and overprotective. All of the songs are overwrought and not really memorable, and the characters sing a lot. No need to buy this one, one viewing is enough.
Six years is not a particularly long time to wait for a sequel, but in the case of Frozen it is hard not to feel that the decision to return was totally motivated by money-making potential and not much else. Of course it is naïve to think that any sequel is made out of love for the audience etc and without money in mind, but usually it doesn't feel so brazen as this; and that impression is not helped by Disney digging up its own back catalogue to remake and resell them. In the meantime Frozen made over a billion dollars, with hit records, merchandise, stage shows etc, so the sequel was not a great surprise - but it is a bit of a disappointment.
The plot is the aspect that hurts it. It feels like it was written by a committee, and puts too much effort into keeping all the characters busy by giving them something to do. As a result the plot feels convoluted due to the number of threads that don't have direct relationship to one another. In addition, the threads themselves have a lot going on that is hard to translate for children - the link to past generations, the origin of powers; all sorts of things like this rob it of impact because it feels less smooth - you can hear the gears grinding as it moves along. There are several strong songs, not quite the strength of the first film but that was a high bar to clear. There are funny moments, but the whole thing does feel less 'fun'.
At the same time my reduced investment in the film meant it had less emotional impact; it doesn't take much for me to get choked up but nothing did anything for me in this one. It wasn't awful of course, just disappointing. It still offers the songs, the laughs, the spectacle but it does it in such a heavy-set way that it doesn't spark or feel organic as it does it - and as a result the feeling gets stronger that this is only really about squeezing more money from the audience.

This is a beautiful movie, and Elsa's journey is a powerful one to watch. But outside of this it's narrative is completely unfocused and none of the character moments are given the time they deserve on screen. It seems that it's trying to be more adult with more lore and a darker tone, but also still gives Olaf an unnecessary about of screen time doing things that the little kids would laugh at. The pacing also feels quite rushed, even by kids movie standards. You could have cut 20 minutes out of this movie and it would have been just as good.

I'm not sure why some people say it sucked. I went with my nephew and I thought the story was good and kept me intrigued throughout and had so many emotions, great visuals and was as good if not better than the first. I would def. Recommend this movie if you liked the 1st one! The characters from Frozen are awesome!

It's a sequel and as expected it's not as good as the first but Disney have created an outstanding film. Don't listen to the cynical reviews, the plot is no worse than the plot of the original and the movie features beautiful visuals and music with the same likeable characters.

Unlike most sequels Disney make, this one tried. I saw the document series and everyone wanted to make this a great film but it ultimately misses the mark. The plot is a mess, new characters are barely used, and the songs aren't as catchy as let it go. Although I still have respect to everyone who had passion making this maybe Disney should consider letting people have more time to fix story problems.
You can clearly see that in this animation they mainly listened to whiners on social media, and that makes this film a chaos and a mess. There is a lot going on in the film but it all makes no sense. Dinsey has tried to do everything "correct" with the thought on the vinegar whiners on the internet and that is a shame because that is the reason that this film has no story and that a lot of characters come across as very annoying or just superfluous so it was better not to make this sequel because this is just a big disappointment, not a worthy sequel. This has nothing to do with Frozen!

This. This was the sequel I was HOPING for. I was in tears of every variety for the majority of the film. The animation was flawless, the songs were abundant and wonderful (nothing quite as earwormy as Let It Go, though) and the laughter was non-stop.
The character growth was also a treat. I didn't expect that, especially from a character like Olaf.
All the negative reviews I see complain about it either being too dark or all over the place. It was neither. Sure, it had some darkness to it, but so does life, and like most moments in life, their is a shining bright light waiting on the other side, even if it's not the ending I would have expected.
And to those saying it was all over the place? It wasn't, if you bothered to pay attention. But most of you are adults who write off every animated feature as children's fare and don't really care to pay attention. And that is because you've lost the child inside. You've forgotten how to feel joy and excitement and embrace it like you did as a child. You confuse your contentedness with your children's happiness with actual joy and live vicariously through them than embracing what's inside of you and living your own happiness yourself. And for that, I pity you all.

Many isolated components of this film were fine or fabulous. The visuals in particular look incredible. The songs, message and concepts within the narrative are fine to great.
However the story, logic and writing to keep all these parts together in an effective way is lacking. And that's really what makes or breaks a feature film. That's why I give it a 4.
Kids will likely enjoy it anyway. But adults will mostly like this one less than the first one. And the first one wasn't exactly a perfect story either. But in the first one I felt like things were at stake. Within this sequel I saw enough magic and implausible fixes within every encounter that I started at times to get annoyed rather than release that the protagonists were alright. And that's not good.

As if even the writers got lost in writing this story. As if they didn't know who to write the animation about and that's why they came up with this! It just feels like the creators/writers weren't being paid enough and were taking revenge by making this as a protest!

This movie has beautiful visuals. The scenes and animation is breathtaking. I liked that very much.
Here's a controversial opinion; I quite liked the music and songs as well though It lacks the iconic catchy tunes from the first one.
My biggest complaint and the one thing that let this down is the story. Its way too simplistic. Now granted the first one wasn't Mark-Twain like either but you get the feeling that it was more substantial than this and as an adult there was more in the first one for you than this.
I'm still rating this pretty good because as much as I'm personally underwhelmed by the story, I'm not the target audience. This is a movie for little children and I guess they might have a different opinion. I wouldn't know for sure since I dont have children to take to the movies. I would like to, but I need to find a wife first for that to happen.

I don't really know where to stand on this one. One one had, Frozen 2 is a gorgeously animated movie with amazing songs, great characters and an enticing plot. On the other hand, it's a pointless, painfully average sequel that doesn't really add much. Kristoff barely does anything in it and neither does Anna really. At least Elsa is more likeable, right? All in all, it's fine. Watch it if you want, but you wouldn't gain much from it.

"I have to give credit where credit is due, for the effort of trying to make an original storyline. But unfortunately they ended up with a mismatch of a tale, which is unnecessarily complicated. A great visual experience, however a fail of a sequel. The music is also lacklustre, and nowhere near as catchy as the first title.

Having seen both the first Frozen and Frozen 2 as an adult, my perspective might be different from others, but I have to say I actually like the second one better. The music is more interesting, the message is less simple and cheesy, and the effects are stunning. Granted, the story is a little complicated, but only enough to make it interesting. And let me say it again, the music is definitely better! Into the Unknown, Lost in the Woods, Show Yourself, and even the lullaby are moving, humorous, or epic pieces, and even the songs not mentioned by name here are at the very least good as well. Expectations were high for this movie after the first and I think some people expected something a little lighter and more fun, but this sequel certainly still has moments of humor and is a truly beautiful story.

So, I bought early tickets for this movie, and it was over $100. I went into the theatres on November 21st with very, VERY high expectations for this movie. I watched through the entire movie without shedding a single tear, but this movie's emotional parts still hit me like a train, and keep in mind I'm an 11 year old boy. What I enjoy the most about this movie are the visuals, graphics and effects. The way they animate certain elements in this movie such as water and fire are absolutely stunning. The story and arc is better than the first. The songs are on a different level than the first, yet it delivers just as well. This Frozen is somewhat darker than the first, although still maintaining the Disney spirit. I am not a huge Disney fan, because there are some other studios out there that make better movies IN MY OPINION. But this is on a whole new level than the first.
If you wanted to see this movie in theatres, I recommend you don't change your mind.

They could have done so much with frozen to make this a good sequel but they dicided to make this cheap, woke, dumb garbadge instead. There is no story in this animation. If you watched Frozen this movie wil be a disappointment for you. It's actually not a sequel, the characters may look a bit like the character from Frozen, that's all. For the rest you will not recognize much in it. There is a "voice" that calls out Elsa but has waited until she has lived in fear for years, tried to control her powers, went through all of Frozen and some shorts to make herself known. Their mother is apparently from a magical forest and their father has been there too but no one ever talked about it or went back to it and no one in Arendelle knew it existed and neither did we for that matter. Even their mother didn't know until frozen 2 that she came from a forest and left as a child and no one who missed her there for even a second uhu... Elsa who can see memories and whole histories through ice that nobody knows anything about know, really?! Why when Elsa accidentally hit Anna with her powers her father had to look in a book what they can do about en go to the trolls while her mother "supposd to be from the magic forrest all the spirits came from" cause it make no sense and it not true just cheap thought, Guardians of Arendelle who were lost for years in the magical forest that nobody ever went to look for apparently and also turn out to be alive after so many years and who really nobody has asked. Anna who is very immature and very annoying. Kristoff who is just there with no purpose and who you wouldn't miss if they had let him out. Spirits that suddenly appear is the shape of an ice horse and pokemon that want to kill everyone, songs that are very annoying and make no sense, Everyone who always looks very angry (under the guise of being powerful), 5th spirit that does not exist( invented by a toddler I think) and that were given as a "gift" to Elsa really as if the person who came up with this has never seen Frozen at all that it really doesn't make sense because in frozen Elsa really suffered for years!, Elsa and Anna who still seem strange to each other even after living together in the castle for several years after Frozen, very uninteresting new characters have been added to this movie that you really don't care about, Elsa who was finally "free" at the end of Frozen now has a personality disorder and therefore doesn't want to be queen anymore but to play a useless freak on an ice horse in a magical forest with people she doesn't know and has never seen??!! I think it's a shame that they, as creators, have decided that Elsa is no longer a human being but a thing that is not worth nothing! And that Anna, who also grew up alone for years, did not get what she deserved too but was instead a whiny toddler. And still left many questions like what was their life like before the accident and the gates were still open? And for the rest, there are still questions about what their life was like between Do you want to build a snowman, how did Prince Hans grow up, and what happened to Kristoff's parents that he only had Sven and was "stolen" by those trolls. ? How is elsa ended up at the mountain where she made her ice castle if she's never been outside the castle, had she read it in a book? What does the Northern Lights have to do with the moment when the accident happened? Not to mention where do Elsa's powers come from? How did their parents feel with their the decision to let their children grew up apart? Where did they go to when they where on that ship(Frozen 2 reason was cheap so not an answer)?
They mainly made this film for the money and not to make a good story out of it because this is not a sequel to Frozen and that makes this film really painful to watch.

Disney's Frozen was truly a delightful surprise. It was an extravagant celebration of the studios' own legacy and its musical traditions from across the eras but no one expected it to be the phenomenon that it became & it left a cultural impact that was undeniably unforeseen. Six years later, Frozen II surfaces with hopes of repeating the same feat yet nearly everything about it is inferior to the original.
A visually breathtaking yet narratively hollow sequel that lacks the freshness of the first film and is a step down in storytelling quality too, Frozen II does have a few things working in its favour but it is not the follow-up chapter that's able to validate its existence. The film is a passable effort at best that manages to mask its shortcomings with spellbinding animation but the effect doesn't last for long this time around.
Unlike its predecessor, a lot of its musical numbers end up affecting the narrative flow and aren't that catchy either. Anna & Elsa's arc remains captivating, plus the sisterhood bond is strong as ever but the other characters, both new & returning, are a letdown. Even the humour goes downhill, diving into silliness at times, and the only aspect that keeps its afloat is the photorealistic animation that provides the film its mesmerising beauty.
Devoid of the enchanting flavour & invigorating aura that made Frozen a classic for the new generation, Frozen II does steer into darker territory as it should and even had an interesting premise about mending the cracks left by forefathers in addition to Elsa's search for her origins but it fails to balance it all in a fascinating fashion and doesn't dig enough to strike a heartfelt chord. A rather safe attempt if anything, Walt Disney Animation's latest isn't worth the 6-year wait.
