I can safely say that Dragon Ball is the best anime I have ever watched.
You know. Usually low ratings always turn me off, but it seems that it's not about the anime itself, but about people. I watched all 575 episodes + 1 movie and I can say that this is one hell of a fantastic anime. Seriously, I want more and more, but there is nothing to watch, and no one knows when the sequel will be.
And Son Goku has become my favorite anime character. Damn, he's amazing. I like everything about it, be it design, selfishness, simplicity, naivety, fearlessness, openness, heroism, purposefulness. Of course, this can be applied to all the main characters of the shonen. But, as for me, it was in Goku that these qualities were best connected and the ultimate mood lifter, deliverer and problem beater turned out. The true standard of the anime world. I am very grateful to Toriyama for such a treasure!
I will not say anything about the story, characters, fights, art, music, because I liked everything by 9000%.
The only thing that seemed strange to me was the "Garlick the Younger" and "Times of Peace" arcs. But. Who am I to criticize such a wonderful anime? I would even say that it is beyond our world.
If you are thinking: "Is this anime worth watching?". Yes, it's definitely worth it.

Did you know
- TriviaThere was some controversy invoking "bad" animation, something Akira Toriyama agreed with. He sent out a manuscript to Toei, who is the only party that can change it.
- GoofsEmperor Pilaf's dog henchman has always been called "Shu." (Rhymes with "new.") But in the English dub of Super, Pilaf calls him "Shao." (Rhymes with "now.")
- Crazy creditsThe series title forms from the Dragon Balls flying through space, in a tribute to Dragon Ball (1986). The opening credits end with all the Z-Fighters lined up, in a tribute to Dragon Ball Z (1989).
- Alternate versionsDue to executive pressure from the distributors, the Hungarian dub kept some of the now infamous French-derivative names and other errors from their old dubs of Dragon Ball (1986) and Dragon Ball Z (1989), which were originally taken from the AB Groupe's childish, mistake-filled French dubbing. (For the record, France has long since been using the correct Japanese names.) This was done to preserve continuity between the dubs of three series, however this also means that some of the franchise's signature words like "Saiyan" are never spoken in any of the Hungarian dubs. The old and new name changes are:
- "Crystal Balls" for Dragon Balls, but some episodes do use the term Dragon Ball
- "Star Warriors" for Saiyans
- "Hyper Warrior" for Super Saiyan 2
- "Mega Warrior" for Super Saiyan 3
- "Songoku", "Songohan" and "Songoten" for Son Goku, Gohan and Goten
- "Vegita" for Vegeta
- "Satan" or "Young Satan" for Piccolo
- "Hercules" for Mr. Satan
- "Bubu" for Buu
- "Kaito" for King Kai AKA Kaio-sama
- "Genius Turtle" for Master Roshi AKA Kame-Sennin
- "Chaos" for Chiaotzu
- "Tenshin Han" for Tien Shinhan
- "Macsek" (Pussycat) for Puar
- "Special Forces" for the Ginyu Force
- "Zsinö" for Ginyu, based on his name's French mispronunciation
- "Dermesztö" (Froster) for Frieza
- "Fagyasztó" (Freezer) for Frost
- "Salat" for Planet Salada
- "Kápszta" ("Cabbge") for Cabba
- "Karfila" for Caulifla
- "Kel" for Kale
- "Hagymágyú" (portmanteau of onion and cannon) for Galick Gun
- "Mindenek Ura" (Ruler of All) for Zeno, Goku nicknaming him "Mini"
- the old "Trunk" was corrected to Trunks
- "Gotrunk" was corrected to Gotenks
- Vegeta calls Goku by his Saiyan birth name "Kakarot", while in the old dubs he used "Songoku" like everyone else (and "Kashalo" in one episode)
- "Kamehame" was corrected to Kamehameha
- Final Flash is called "Végsö csapás" (Final Blow), whereas it had no name in the old dub
- Destructo Disk is called "Ki korong" (Ki Disc), while the old dubs gave it no name
- The Holy Dragon Sheron is called Shen Long
- Bubbles is referred to by name instead of just "monkey"
- the names "Neptune" and "Shibito" have been abandoned in favor of Kibito-Kai, but Supreme Kai is still called Neptune after the old French misitranslation of his Japanese name
- Elder Kaioshin is also called by his title instead of simply "master"
- "Dolong" was corrected to Oolong
- "Yairobe" was corrected to Yajirobe
