Sony Pictures Entertainment is head over heels for Love Everlasting, the twisty comic book series from Tom King and illustrator Elsa Charretier. Room and Frank helmer Lenny Abrahamson directs Love Everlasting from a screenplay by Jane Goldman, with Emma Watts and Element’s Ed Guiney producing.
Tom King is a busy man these days. In addition to being a prolific writer, he’s the co-creator of HBO’s Lanterns, the upcoming series based on DC’s Green Lantern. His work at Marvel informed much of the studio’s WandaVision series, and he and Bilquis Evely created Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, soon to be a major motion picture with Craig Gillespie directing. As Deadline says, Love Everlasting is a wild ride! It’s part Groundhog Day and part Quantum Leap, but it’s also got mind-bending sci-fi elements and chilling horror vibes. Exclusive: Sony Pictures Entertainment has fallen hard for Love Everlasting. The film adaptation of the comic book series written by Tom King has Room helmer Lenny Abrahamson attached to direct and Jane Goldman writing the script. Emma Watts and Element’s Ed Guiney are producing.
King, the co-creator/EP of Lanterns and whose comic book work is the basis for WandaVision and the upcoming Craig Gillespie-directed Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, co-created the Love Everlasting comic series with illustrator Elsa Charretier. It is described as a mix of Groundhog Day and Quantum Leap with sci-fi and horror elements.
The protagonist is Joan Peterson, a heroine who begins in the mold of how women often are portrayed in romance comics: with the major goal to fall in love. Only here, each time she reaches that plateau, Joan finds herself abruptly shifted into a new time period and setting with new obstacles...

After reading the first issue of one of my most-anticipated titles of 2024, I'm not surprised to be saying that James Tynion IV and Elsa Charretier's new series The City Beneath Her Feet is definitely worth the wait. With a twisted take on classic romantic comedy tropes and stylish cartooning, Dstlry's next comic asks: what if Nora Ephron made a movie about a mysterious assassin?
I jest, but Tynion and Charretier's The City Beneath Her Feet is billed as "a bloody love letter to New York City," so rest assured: I'm not joking all that much. The first issue - with frequent Tynion collaborators Jordie Bellaire on colors and Aditya Bidikar on letters - follows the two leads, the mysterious assassin Jasper Jayne and the struggling writer Zara, as they make their separate ways across New York City, only for the paths to serendipitously collide after Jasper gets injured on one of her jobs.

Exclusive: Caylee Cowan (Willy’s Wonderland) and Brady Noon (The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers) have been tapped to lead Mother and Me, a psychological thriller marking the directorial debut of cinematographer Carson McKinnon, who also wrote the script.
The film tells the story of Casey (Cowan), a young woman confined to her home, living under the same roof as her mother. Struggling to write what’s poised to be a best-selling horror novel and living in the shadow of her late father, a renowned horror author, Casey grapples with the complexities of her relationship with her mother.
Appearing alongside Cowan and Noon, in the role of Mother, is newcomer Tara Janae Smith.
Mother and Me will be produced by the Utah-based Rob Diamond Films (Love Everlasting) and the director’s banner, McKinnon Media. Todd McKinnon is exec producing, with Samuel Goodrich, Seth Parkinson, and Kenadee Clark serving as associate producers. Production...

One of the most exciting comic book industry announcements this year has been the formation of Dstlry, a new creator-owned publisher where the creators own part of the company, including writers and artists such as James Tynion IV, Scott Snyder, Jock, and more. Taking its name after the whiskey aging process, the debut publication is cleverly titled The Devil's Cut, and is a collection of 11 short stories, eight of which lead into full series.
One of those teams creating a full series is James Tynion and Christian Ward, who have been working on a haunted house epic titled Spectregraph, which is also the first story in the collection. We're thrilled to exclusively reveal a new direct-to-consumer variant cover for The Devil's Cut from Christian Ward for "Spectregraph" available only through www.dstlry.co, along with some incredible concept art!

Love Everlasting #1 Written by Tom King | Art by Elsa Charretier
About a third of the way through Love Everlasting #1 it feels like King & Charretier are on a mission to bring back the Romance comics of 1960’s. Then things get a little weird….
1950’s – Joan loves George who is currently seeing her bestie Marta. Marta goes off with Jack so Joan and George get married 1970’s – Joan fancies singer Kit but recalls she was married to George 1890’s – Chad and Bill fight over Joan who rides off to find George, or Kit. She meets a masked stranger who shoots her and says ‘Love Is Everlasting’
Intriguing.
Rating: 8/10 Promethee...

The films will skip cinemas and instead launch on digital platforms.
